Spirit City: Lofi Sessions

I wrote my entire masters thesis using this app to keep track of stuff, pomodoro technique and most importantly, providing great writing/reading music. Thanks for making my thesis experience a bit more fun =)

[/b] In this game you create your character and enjoy some good lofi tunes while doing idle things. [/b] Yes I would argue this game is very beginner player friendly. There is not much going on and there is no need really for any tutorial. [b] Game Play: [/b] There is not much game play to this game as it is made for you to sit and listen to good lofi tunes and to watch your character while you do different idle things. I would argue that there is a good rewards system however, as with each level up you have the ability to unlock many different types of things. This game also helps you with different time management tasks. Like making to-do lists, timers, and different styles of daily tasks. [b] Graphics: [/b] The graphics in this game are honestly beautiful. Its similar to lofi girl, which they have done a collab with. However the only difference with that is this game is three demensional. The graphics are detailed and make your little world feel like your very own enviornment. I believe this game could run on medium end systems. [b] Community: [/b] The community that play this game are all lovely. I have personally interacted with a few people who have played and everyone so far is very kind and helpful. [b] How long can you play? [/b] This game has very long idleing play time potential. I have already put almost 6 hours into this game just to catch the little spirits while I am writing my reviews or my book. I think this game you can easily spend hours in it just while working or watching youtube. [b] My Opinion: [/b] In my opinion this game is perfect for people looking for something that has a gaming aspect with a more time management style. I believe this game is super fun in the sense that I really enjoy unlocking everything I possibly can. Things in the game that I think would be nice to know before buying: [h3] Sounds [/h3] Rain, Fireplace, Vinyl Record Player, Thunder, Wind, "Night Forest" (crickets), and Snowstorm. These have visual effects that can be turned on and off even if the sound isn't playing. Train, Coffeeshop Chatter, Underwater Echoes, Pan Sizzle, Soup Bubbling, Kitchen Knives and Plate Clinking, Keyboard Typing, Birdsong, Cat Purring, Rushing Creek, Beach Wooshing, "Distant Cityscape" (sirens and other vehicle sounds mostly), Dishwashing, "Holiday Melodies," Seagulls, Windchimes, Summer & Japanese Cicadas, and, finally, White, Pink, & Brown Noise. [h3] Radios [/h3] There are Lofi Girl playlists with fun little themes like Christmas, Halloween, and their most popular songs and also Homework Radio with the similar themed playlists. You can also favorite songs and play only those or de-select individual songs that you don't like in a playlist. You can search YouTube inside the game and play any YouTube video in the background. For weirdos like me, you can also play your own downloaded music via this app. Like purchased albums and the like. .flac and mp3 files are compatible. Apologies, I can't list more, I don't use them. You have to organize your songs via playlists or the albums themselves in your file explorer since there's no way to do do that in the app. There is a shuffle, previous song, pause, next song, song repeat, and additional, music specific volume slider too. [h3] Productivity [/h3] To-Do lists where you can add categories and tasks within them Timer where you can customize your work sessions and breaks Weekly Task tracker where you can add tasks like vacuum, take morning meds, etc. The Journal where you can just write whatever or answer different mindfulness/meditation prompts. [h3] Everything Else [/h3] There are little puzzles/riddles to find the right combination of environment settings to summon the spirits. Something like "This spirit likes it when this other spirit around, it's dark and raining out, and your typing on your computer." The companions have different looks/skins that can match most vibes (though I do wish the train DLC lil guys had more skins). Some companions get more love than others like the dog and cat. There are so many different outfit options and most of the clothes have an option to change their colors via a color wheel and sliders. Character customization is fairly detailed, too. This includes a decent portion of dreadlock/curly hair options. There are also five preset options if you wanted to make a summer, winter, and fall outfit and keep them. You can also toggle the UI on and off and change the UI color in the settings. I also like the DLC's. They add a little flavor if one setting is getting too same-y. Though I will say I wish the Train DLC spirits got a little more love in the skins department. You also have five preset options for the settings as well. If it isn't clear enough, I love the game since it allows me to play something so my pets are listening to something other than abject silence whenever I'm out and about and lets me have cozy rainstorm sounds whenever I am home.

As an adult with ADHD, this game actually helped me a LOT with scheduling things that needed doing, helping me set timers to make sure I got everything done, and not let me forget. All while being entertaining and relaxing, and honestly just fun to dig into. It's exciting to unlock the new Spirits, and the new DLC content helps add a little more to the game. Being able to customize nearly everything is wonderful! From outfits to decor, it can be changed to match your mood or the season! I'm grateful to the developers for everything they've put into the game so far, and that they still give it love now.

Everything about this game that is good is packed in it, but all of the issues are with the absolute garbage Epic Games web system. From AI slop sneaking in to remote lists to excessive connections to a remote server and jank af web helpers that don't proper exit (I'd bet that's intended, since it's Epic who makes it, and they are foul enough to make me miss EA) when you close the game. I'd love to see this with the online junk removed, or shifted to a free DLC so people who want it can keep it but folks who want quality content and no BS aren't stuck with it, because pretty much every problem I have with this game is not with this game but with the "extras" that are shoved into it. I didn't buy a game, and pay for three DLCs, because I want internet freebies and YouTube inside my games. I want quality included packaged content offline and local. Also, it seems to trigger some sort of interaction with servers on unlocks, which can crash the game for me, I'd unlocked the same spirit three times because it would crash every time it unlocked. If the internet is totally blocked and everything is in offline mode running from a cache things work great. Let it see, or touch, the Internet and things go wrong.

BANGER ALERT. As a person with ADHD it's been an absolute lifesaver to have on a second screen while I work. Simple gameplay with a satisfying loop, I would totally recommend! Thanks for making my freshmen year of undergrad much more manageable.

In love with this game so much! My only "complaint" if you can even call it that, is i wish there was a jewllery option for earrings, rings or braclets. thats it. I love how cozy this game is and every single option i can wind down with, while i enjoy a hobby myself. <3 thank you for making this game! :)

Great productivity game, really helps me stay on track. We need a MULTIPLAYER, if not massive multiplayer online version of this game!

Spirit city: Lofi sessions is one of those games I got trying to gaslight myself into thinking I needed to finally get productive. But as it turns out, productiveness comes from within, not from a game. That said, did Lofi have some cool options! You can decorate your own virtual bedroom and assign your character tasks. If you are reading in real life, you can for example make your character read too. And of course you can dress said character and with tickets you can buy new stuff for your room and your avatar. Lofi also has this cool planner where you can enter tasks and set timers for. For example, I used to set timers when to walk the dog, so I wouldn’t forget. Or would for fun to set timers to try and see if I could write 5k words within 10 minutes. Definitely no biggie for a yapper as me, but with time pressure under it seemed like nothing really sticked. Anyhow: I think if you have inner discipline mastered and can commit to your own goals, Lofi will only help you master this skill. Even if you have the attention span of a potato like me, it can help planning, but as I said, this must also come from within. Lofi is a tool to work with, not a solution to undiagnosed ADHD issues, I found out. (I got the diagnosis a few months after beginning this game)) But alas, we degress: The best part gotta be the spirits. These little adorable fellas you unlock through hints (or the steam guides if you’re stuck) and collect them! One is hiding in the fireplace, others only come at special times (you can luckly set this) or when its raining (you can also set this) so have fun collecting them! DLC: Another game that added dlcs without achievements. Another GOAT. I hate it when games add dlc with achievements to hold me hostage to it. The DLC looks cute, has new spirits and activities and rooms but I don’t own them, so…cannot say much! OVERRAL: Cute spirits, adorable outfits and cozy rooms. This planner and game is a fun addition to the collection, but keep in mind what I said: If you are bad at planning, no this game won’t fix this xD. The Bad:
