Fun game play, but the characters and art are just so generic. Nothing seemed very authentic, and most of the songs were not licensed hits.

A great game to play through, *once*. It's like a Saturday morning cartoon in all the best ways. Cheesy, fun, and over the top with great set pieces. The combat and overall flow is really enjoyable and the soundtrack is great. The levels are a bit long, taking around an hour each. The first playthrough is a treat and while the post-game does present some additional challenges and content, it's probably best to quit after seeing the credits. Post-game content requires playing most stages again but all tutorials/cutscenes/dialog are present so it's actually a slog. The game was definitely designed as a single-playthrough experience (and a great one at that) with the post-game content not having quality of life features that you would expect, like being able to jump into discrete parts of the level or skipping all of the story content. Play it once, it will take around 10 hours, and will be a real fun experience.

One of the most fun and unique action games I've played in a long time, the rhythm mechanic is very addictive and satisfying once your brain gets attuned to the beat. The levels can be a bit long, but generally speaking this is a zero frills experience and just gets you right into the action 95% of the time. A must if you enjoy character action games.
