About

Enter the explosive conflict of the Vietnam War and fight your way through some of the fiercest clashes in modern history. Join the battle raging across an extreme landscape of vast mountain gorges and thick jungle, where the North Vietnamese Armies clash with the military strength of the US Armed Forces. Build tunnels, fly helicopters, drive patrol boats, use historically accurate weapons and work with your team to achieve victory.

Take the battle to the enemy across 6 large-scale maps inspired by real world locations. Play as either the North Vietnamese Army or US Armed Forces and choose from one of 17 specialised roles within a 50-strong team made up of multiple squads. Join or lead infantry, recon, armour, mortar squads and helicopter units, using communication and teamwork with your fellow players to identify objectives and ruthlessly exploit your opponent’s weaknesses. Emergent gameplay features bring intensity and realism to the conflict, as players tackle each battle with authentic weapons, orders and tactics. Follow the chain of command and work together as a team to meet your objectives and achieve victory.

In the heat and fury of the Vietnam War, the battle is more dynamic than ever. New US aerial units feature fully operational helicopters for fire support and supply drops. NVA forces can build extensive tunnel networks to gain the upper hand with surprise attacks. Both sides can hunt the enemy through Vietnam’s complex river network with heavily armed patrol boats built and launched to seek and destroy. Enhanced player movement, including swimming, climbing and fast crawling, and interactions such as dragging co-combatants away from active fire to give them a chance to heal and re-engage, all adds to the immersive battle experience.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam features multiple distinct gameplay modes pitting players against each other in epic 50 vs 50 multiplayer battles. Warfare mode is a 50 vs 50 tug-of-war style confrontation where two teams fight for control over 5 sectors. Offensive breaks down the opposing forces into an attacking side and a defending side. Alternating new game modes mix up the gameplay parameters to maximise the battlefield experience. This is as immersive as warfare gets!

The tutorials are absolute ♥♥♥♥. Why are they even required, so close to refunding this ♥♥♥♥. If you die in tutorials you have to restart the entire thing. GFY.
not even close to what i expected. Immediatley refunded. needs another year or 2 in development. I'm not sure why they thought this was okay to release. It's basically a janky version of hell let loose with a vietnam theme to it and a 2010 looking graphics. Looks nothing like the steam images. Pretty upsetting.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 4: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

idk why peopel are hating its peak PTSD
This is a partially biased review as I really dont think a Vietnam game has much potential of being enjoyable. I'm very familiar with the original Hell Let Loose with about 950 hours on record at the time of writing. The OG is by far one of my most played games and I love it dearly. With the main gameplay consisting of creeping through bushes, getting shot at from other bushes and firing blindly back at all the foliage hoping for a random hit, I just cannot see how that is enjoyable. So it me it is fundamentally flawed and I dont think a Vietnam game has much potential of being fun, not for me at least. That aside though, there are also a variety of other issues with this game. Some deliberate gameplay and design choices, and some bugs. It is really hard to tell the difference between friendlies and enemies at range as the little blue dot will not appear until you actually put your sights directly on them, and even then the blue dot will take a second to appear. There have been many instances of friendly fire due to this. People will be skipping about at range, similar to what was happening during the open beta prior to release, but to a much lesser degree. However still enough to be disruptive. The hit registration is all over the place and hard to predict. The sniper role is one of my most played on HLL WW2, and I have tried it here too, but find it inconsistent. Unsure how far I need to lead my shots as at the same rage I will sometimes have to aim a whole person ahead of someone, whereas other times I can aim right at them and still hit. Sometimes you'll be shooting at someone and wonder why none of your bullets are landing, only to realise that the flimsy wooden fence made entirely of twigs and is 90% holes and see-through is eating every single bullet. A more deliberate design I have an issue with is the map. The 3D map is a really cool and neat idea, however I dont think it works, and I am not a fan. First off, when fully zoomed out, you still can't see the entire map without moving it around, unlike in WW2 where you got a great overview of the entire map at a glance just by zooming it out. The 3D map also has momentum when moving it around. Why? Move the map, let go of the mouse, map keeps gliding. While we're on the map, I find it often more difficult and less clear to read where the red and blue sections are as the whole map has a red tint. Your territory is just slightly less red than the enemy. Similarly, a different UI difference I find annoying is how you can't quickly see who has what classes in your squad when you're dead and looking at the map to deploy. In WW2, you had a little thing in the bottom left where you saw you squad, but here you either gotta open the scoreboard and scroll til you find your squad, spawn in, or go into the roles screen to see what is available. Lastly I'd like to touch on the visuals and performance. This game does run worse than WW2, but that might be as expected seeing as this is many years newer and also looks a lot better from a purely cinematic POV. However, that is also one of my personal gripes with it. It just doesn't feel good to look at. It's not clear, it's not sharp. It feels blurry. That's one of the things I noticed straight away with the open beta, and I hated it. Still on release I thought it still looked very blurry and couldn't get it to look sharp. Every map also has some sort of "piss-filter" with beautiful lighting and long shadows and cinematic fog. All elements that make it EVEN harder to see your enemy in a game where you're already mostly shooting at bushes. Additionally, the performance is not great. I run at 4k on a 4090 and 7800X3D and have every setting set to the lowest possible, and no frame gen or upscaling ( to try to counteract the blurriness) and I hover somewhere between 60 and 130fps depending on the map and scene. For context, I also run WW2 at 4K, but with everything at maximum and get better performance, sitting somewhere between 140 to 160fps for the most part. I might be more likely to recommend this game if the bugs get ironed out and the annoyances get changed, but at the time of writing, I just can't find any joy or fun in this miserable experience.
FPS bad optimization.
