HLL: Vietnam < RS2:Vietnam Even though this game is nearly a decade older than HLL: Vietnam, it is magnitudes better especially if you're a fan of the historical aspects. 11/10
It's a few years old, so there are some things you will expect - certain buggy mechanics, weird glitching, and certain technical issues. Despite that, there has been a loyal fanbase that has kept the game alive, and for good reason. We see with the failure of other Cold War-era FPS games that many, old or new, come back to this classic. I do think despite it's "rust" as can be seen by some, it can easily be polished and has potential to grow well past it's age of release. What I wish most was a fix to VOIP and using voice chat. It's spotty at best, and negligible at worst. The game would move much smoother and easily more coordinated if people could communicate outside of the text box that fades away messages after a few seconds. You should definitely get it, but given its age and a player base at most of 300 people, definitely try around the time of a sale. But if you think the purpose and content of this game is up your alley, you definitely should give it a try. It might be confusing and a bit difficult to 'click' with the game, but you'll eventually see the hype behind it and why its player base keeps coming back to the game.
8 Years i've owned this game, and its the one i always keep coming back to. needs updating but is very fun.
If hell let loose and battlefield had a baby set in Vietnam this would be that baby. The servers are alive enough, play during the day and you'll have a few full servers, play at night and you'll maybe find two full; it's on the smaller side of a playerbase. It's as far as I know entirely online but has bots that fill servers; BUT if you play with a full lobby and do a campaign then there is no other large scale mil sim like this. From strategy to just running through the rice-fields this game captures the Vietnam war perfectly; The limb damage system and reactive ground system in this game helps add immersion too. Overall I'd recommend this game to anyone who has a interest in Vietnam and likes mil-sims, It is on sale often aswell.

Paranoid (2014 Remaster) Black Sabbath
This game will not replace Hell Let Loose Vietnam, not for the forseeable future. As far as I'm concerned, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is the definitive Vietnam War video game, a shooter that stood the test of time. I wish more people would play it :/ I've originally played this game on the Epic launcher as it was given out for free years ago, but following some strange bug where I couldn't level up, I bought the game here on Steam. I'm glad I did, I at least now have all the DLC.

got ptsd from the lack of servers and then I realized the Vietnam War ended many decades ago, I should have known
