If war is the closest we get to hell on earth, it's because Earth harbours the worst of demons: humankind. In an isolated country ravaged by infighting, discover the secrets of your past and deal with the repercussions of a mysterious calamity.

About
Hell is Us is a 3rd-person action-adventure game that combines intense melee combat with the thrill of exploration. Explore a semi-open world to find answers to your questions and face mysterious creatures all along your journey.
As well as the civil war dividing the country, the region is suffering from a mysterious calamity, which has given rise to supernatural creatures that no modern weapon can defeat. Your drone and sword from a different age are your faithful allies as you cut a path through lands infested with terrifying chimeras and try to unravel the mystery of their appearance.
No map, no compass, no quest markers: following your instincts is part of the adventure. Enjoy a unique experience that uses innovative writing and level design to let you make your own decisions and follow your instincts as you explore. Your discoveries are yours alone.
Swords, spears and axes: a wide range of weapons forged specially for fighting these supernatural creatures is available. You will need to learn how to fight these monsters and use your drone wisely to stay alive.
''The central theme of Hell is Us is that human violence is a perpetual cycle fueled by human emotions and passions.'' – Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, Creative Director

Definitely, a hidden gem of 2025. Period. If you liked Control, Prey, Dead Space, Weird West (not in terms of their genres but *atmosphere*) then you'll probably like this one. Don't listen to the media: this is NOT souls-like, this is NOT action-oriented "RPG". Absolutely not. This game is something between action-adventure with focus on environmental clues/puzzles under some heavy influence of immersive sim. Extremely addictive, feels good, feels great if you are tired of modern AAA slop when every minute every character yaps about everything like "it is behind you" and "there is a button somewhere", the map is covered with check boxes and markers. What to like: - Extensive done in-game lore, writers did great there; it is both interesting to uncover and get deep dive into; - Environmental storytelling gives chills due to how depressing and realistic it paints the whole picture; - In-game lore and events draw inspiration from some real-world events but don't not tell what is right and what is wrong; - In-game factions done great: architecture, paintings on the walls, symbols -- every element is crafted with attention to details; - Main quest itself is good and gives 80s sci-fi fantasy vibes; do not spoil the story if you want to enjoy it; - Side-quests are optional but very satisfying to solve as they feel like they really affect in-game NPCs' lives; - Every location is different, hand-made and play-tested well: at first they feel like a maze but then you remember how to navigate them by local POIs; - No garbage "collect them all" quests, no garbage "slay N monsters" quests; - There are just 2 or 3 "somewhat boring" side-quests but most of them are really interesting; - NPCs do look like normal people and there is no sugarcoating at all, even the protagonist has no special powers or abilities, neither he is the chosen one or something supernatural himself; - Graphics are great, yes, there are some "greasy" UE5 looks here and there but overall it is nicely done; also performance is good (comparable to E33 as it uses the same engine); - Audio/sound design, reminds Prey (2020) in terms of "retro-future" feel and transitional effects; also OST is available to purchase in Steam and I'd recommend to do that (full 4 albums in great quality). What not to like: - Combat is clunky at first BUT enjoyable later, this feels like it is almost good but needed some polishing before release (focus mechanic is PITA when you are weak at first gear level, some weapons are not responsive and feel non-impactful); - Some quests ARE time-locked at Act 1 but you won't get any clue about this because some other quests that you'll get are NOT solvable in Act 1, this feels little unfair; - Maps are clever and very well done in terms of pacing but there are places when a fallen tree becomes a roadblock just because you can't jump in the game. Neutral: - Enemy variety: I actually liked the fact there are no thousands of enemy types, just 3 or 4 classes that get somewhat more and more powerful later in the game; combat is NOT the focus of this game and that's great as it has much more to give to the player; - Almost zero boss fights: finally, NOT a game when the whole design team eats their monthly budget just to make some boss "more interesting" while catering to souls connoisseurs; yes, there are some bossfights and this is alright; - No NG+ and replayability: you can miss some minor items, NPCs and quests but overall there is nothing new to do next time in the game; this is OK as it feels as a complete, solid story to "read once and enjoy it".

Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Absoluter Banger!!!
It's like combining Tomb Raider with Dark Souls. Lots and LOTS of running around trying hundreds of different keys in different shaped doors, often in stone underground tombs and such. The combat leans more to the Souls style where attacks are somewhat slow and most can't be animation cancelled, which often punishes button mashing. While there aren't very many weapons to pick from, there is quite a bit of variety in how you set each weapon up, from different upgrade paths to different relics to change your playstyle. It was neat to see each weapon look different based on how you upgrade it. The story is interesting if not a bit depressing. The majority of the story explores the horrors of war and the lowest of the low that humanity can reach. Plenty of focus on the main plot line of figuring out what happened in the past, and the mystery of the creatures invading the area. The game does have a few issues to note, however. The combat has a few kinks and glitches to work around. The enemy UI in combat is not always accurate, and sometimes enemies can do some really strange things if you stun them out of actions. Enemies also have a tendency to be inconsistent. Sometimes stunning them stops them from summoning help. Sometimes, they simply ignore the stun and do it anyways. Sometimes, a single hit will stagger an enemy, while other times a full combo to the face just has them shrug and hit right back. The exploration also tends to be a bit slow in some of the larger maps. Expect a lot of running to one side of the map, finding a key/code, then running all the way to the other side of the map only to realize you needed one more piece of the puzzle and have to go all the way back again. Overall, this game rewards patience and punishes recklessness. Every detail you see matters. Every book you pick up, every email you read, it all has some relevance or clues. I know there's a LOT more to do in the game with finding all the research, and digging up all the lore but I'll leave that to people who are much sharper at finding details than me.
Easily the best worldbuilding in a game I've seen in years. Reading is the most fun part of the game. Every new information you gather puts the world, the gameplay, the characters, etc. more and more into perspective. They made up a whole country and its history and you're here to explore it. Absolutely amazing. 100% recommended.
Altamente sconsigliato. Peccato.
I enjoyed the game. First of all, the story is good and hooking. And that's, what is missing in a lot of games nowadays. Although the criticiced combat mechanics aren't that bad. The AI could be more varied, and the combat focus is annoying, but despite of this, Hell is Us is recommendable ( 7.5 / 10 ).
I do not recommend this game.
