My friends and I very much enjoyed this.
The end was so awesome, how often do you think, that would be cool if, but it never is.
I don't remember us getting super hung up on any area for more than a short while, though a few things had us confused. Nothing major. We had fun and hope we can find out more. Spoiler for the bonus story
So... um, yeah, I'm sure messing with the altars of all of those Eldritch Gods isn't going to come back and bite her at all.
i feel like this one gets way too complicated at some point - too many things to do at too many places and no chance of jumping back and forth between locations, have to go through all the bloody rooms and caves and stairs and remember where everything is
Anglais facile.
The first time I played this game, it was my first HOG. At that point in time, I didn't like it much; I wasn't used to that kind of gameplay, and it just seemed sort of "cheap" to me. Fast forward in time, they've now grown on me, and I no longer have problems with them (even when they are still not my favorite kind of games). For that reason, I wanted to revisit this one, and see how my perception of it has changed; as it turns out, I really enjoyed it. It's a fine little adaptation of The Case of Charles Dexter Ward. It really doesn't capture Lovecraft's atmosphere well enough, but it's very similar story-wise, and it has references and mentions to other elements from Lovecraft's lore (including some nice depictions of the main deities). Difficulty-wise, puzzles are quite simple, most hidden object screens aren't too hard (there's only one exception, I think), and mini-games range from quite simple to quite hard (so don't be surprised if you suddenly find a couple that require much more time and effort than most). It has some nice voice-acting (though not very much of it), eerie music, and some nice cinematics. It's clearly old, so don't expect many of the new, modern HOG features (although it does have achievements in-game, even when there are no steam achievements). I do recommend it, but I suggest you wait for a sale, for the previous reason. In the future, I may check the other Haunted Hotel games out; Specialbit games are quite nice, and up until now, I didn't know these were theirs (bear in mind, they are on steam as Specialbit, written together, and have some nice new games). In case anyone needs it, the savefiles for this game can be found in the C:\users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Specialbit folder.
i have played almost the whole series of Haunted House and i have found this one to be difficult to work out what to do next but when you take the time to think about it , it becomes clear nwhat to do next. Great on the story line and the theatricks are supherb . A very good game with puzzles everywhere whitch are in line with the game. You have to really think to as who are you going to trust yourself or the main charactor dont believe averything you see either { hint} . Well worth playing.
ONE OF THE BEST in early hidden object adventure era. Thanks for specialbit studio's work. The visual is my beloved, a grey and yellow crossed hotel under the sunset, a bleak and lackluster atmosphere, stands in the hotel. Various POI are set, such as the hut across the hedge maze, a chapel in the another side of lake, a underpass beneath the hotel, is connected with flooded church debris and smelly swamp. There is set separation between each chapter(in game it is called a day), A renovated dynamic weather was designed in ingenious. What's more I'll appraise, from the inspiration from H.P. Lovecraft, that some minigame textures are designed for Cthulhu-like, easy and theme-fitted. Also, storyline is so brief, just find a way to rescue your brother. Yet how brave does protagonist sleep in creepy and thrilled hotel. Gameplay is reasonable, all puzzles and minigames are not hard, even shouldn't read the strategy, every scene are few things to do, less items collect in first two days. In pity that a lot of empty rooms in hotel are not used for making puzzles(I was trying to make a way to open the right-wing upper hallway's double doors while playing). All in all, Good gameplay, good theme, good visual included, you never miss to play this game.(EASILY ALL ACHIEVEMENTS FINISH).
Great game keeps you intrigued all the way through. Puzzles are not too hard.
Meh, but exceptionally tedious as there's no instant travel map.
