This is the type of game I like to play when I think all of my other games suck to remind myself that the other games don't really suck.
It actually blows my mind how EnsenaSoft ever got any funding at all to make these terrible games.
Murder Mystery Adventure is a game inspired by the game board game clue, where you try to solve a murder (duh). Story: You come across a mysterious mansion where inside you find that a murder has been committed and you need to figure who is the killer. Yep, that's about all that you get for the story, you can talk to the suspects which will give a detail which you log as evidence, but that's about it, which is incredibly disappointing for a MURDER MYSTERY. Graphics: Graphics wise, Murder Mystery Adventure is probably the only saving grace and even then, the game is not that good looking. First of all is something that caught me off guard immediately is how most of the so called "suspects" don't look like they belong in their own game. One woman looks like she jumped out of an anime, one looks she has come from Victorian London, another looks like she just got done serving beer in Oktoberfest. It's just a mish mash of character the developers seemingly found and put them together. When I first started playing, I was quite surprised by how well the mansion looks, but quickly that turned into anger, because I noticed how a lot of the items blend in with the walls and floors of the mansion. It's randomly generated, but it honestly feels like the important items will spawn in the room where it will be impossible to see. Audio: The audio design (if you can call it that) is just bland music, which for me at least got so draining that I muted it completely, which is something I very rarely do, so you know it's bad. There's not much sound effects, apart from you stomping from one room to the next and with just the stomping around it's just eerily quiet. Gameplay: Murder Mystery Adventure is basically a point and click adventure game, where you collect evidence, by solving puzzles and looking for items. The basic goal of yours is to find what items was used as the murder weapons, who is lying to you and in what room was the murder committed. You do this by exploring the mansion by every inch and talking to the suspects. At the start of your run it randomly generates the person that killed the owner of the mansion, so you can't really look up a walktrough to help you to look for items and stuff and this quickly becomes one of the biggest problems of the game. First of all the movement is so, so slow. It sometimes takes upwards to 30 seconds to go from place to place. Since the game is played mostly on rails, you usually have to click on the place you want to go for your character to move and then he will start moving there. But it only really takes a single click and you can easily misclick and then you're force to watch a 30 second cutscene of you walking. I already talked about how the items blend into the environment, but at some points it gets to the point where I was almost driven insane. In my playthrough I found who killed the guy and what weapon was used, but I needed to find the location where he was killed and you do this by looking for blood splatters. It took me roughly 30 minutes of going from room to room and looking into walls and floors like an absolute moron looking for a bloodstain, but as soon as I was going to call it, I found the splatter on a red carpet, which perfectly blended the colors, except when you slightly shift your head which glitched the stain upwards which was almost impossible to see. The puzzles are also more annoying than fun. One of them forces you to play a card game whose AI is insanely difficult and you have to win against him 4 times to get a crucial item you need to get evidence and while not as annoying, some of the other puzzles are just as bad. Verdict: Murder Mystery Adventure is a great concept with an absolutely dreadful execution and it makes the game a painful experience to go through once and that replay value with random set ups is not appealing to me. It's roughly 30 minutes per single run, but if you get a run like I did, you can get stuck for almost up to 2 hours. Just go play Clue and don't waste money on this. Final Rating: 1/10 Pros: N/A Cons: - Movement is insanely slow - Items blend into the environments so well, that it makes them impossible to see - Music is dreadful - Puzzle design is awful If you liked this review please consider following our groups and curator pages at https://steamcommunity.com/groups/completingthebacklog and https://steamcommunity.com/groups/ImperialReviews
- Bunshiin. Cons: - first thing that catches your eye is an awful optimization. Game didn't want to make a fullscreen mode and for such a weak graphics it shows FPS like games with photorealistic graphics; - almost everyone said about bad camera that make you nausea. It's point-and-click adventure from the first person perspective and it's very uncomfortable; - sleaze interface; - puzzles are not interesting and aimed to pixel-hunting.
Honestly a very poorly built out point and click murder mystery game. Every place you go, there are seemingly only at most 1 object and 1 person to click on before you go to the next place. The game is dry and even runs with lag sometimes (for a low quality game, why is there lag???). Would not recommend this game to play at all. Rating: 2.0/10 Recommend Price: $0.01
挺烂的点击解谜游戏 有些塑料质感的人物建模 硕大的场景哪里能点击完全没有提示,只能一个个尝试过来,搞得特费鼠标 切换场景虽然有一种走路视角切换的效果,但真的很浪费时间
Murder Mystery Adventure is an older game from 2016. It's a venerable 8 years old at the time of this review. It's a poor man's ripoff of games like Myst where you've got a static scene, you can look around a bit, but there's no real locomotion, you move by clicking on doors etc which gives you a little movement cutscene, then you're looking at the next static scene, where you do basic point and click adventure stuff. The title says it all, in terms of plot, you're in a charming manor (with low poly, shoddy assets and barely any shaders/shadows etc, it looks awful), and someone got a murder done on them, so you have to solve who done it. Which is fine if is's presented well, but it's not. It's from EnsenaSoft, and I was really surprised to find out they're asset flippers, but they are. EnsenaSoft have a known history of trying to scam people into paying them money for someone else's work, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. One example of EnsenaSoft doing this is Puzzles at Mystery Manor, which is really the "Abandoned Manor MegaPack v.2" asset, written by the actual developers, Man-Man. I think that might have been removed from Steam now. I guess it deserved it. Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game assets are fairly mediocre/low quality, in some places they appear mismatched... Ultimately the quality of these assets, and thus the overall visual is lower than average, and low quality always makes for a less than optimal gaming experience. Remember, we're looking for the best of the best of 100,000+ games on Steam. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the mid 2000s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just point and click stuff like a browser/Flash game. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a modest spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? Murder Mystery Adventure has the gamer gouging price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the unethical nature of the developer. For comparison, the $5 asking price for this game could get you games like "The Witcher 2", "Dragon Age: Origins" or "X-Com 2". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.
I have turned the music off, the music was still playing. I have seen bad games before, but this...
Back in the glorious days of DOS, there was a game called Sleuth. You played a detective solving a Cluedo-style murder mystery. You had to find the murder weapon, which room of the mansion the murder happened in, and question suspects to determine whose alibi didn't hold up. This is a 3D graphic, but far inferior, version of that game. Moving around the mansion in this terrible version is frustrating, tedious, and nauseating. You often have to sit through unskipable animations of multiple corridors passing by. The pixel-hunting for weapons is offensive. The graphics are mediocre. The music is wildly inappropriate for the setting. The victim is real world author of Sherlock Holmes stories Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (32 years before his real-life death), but the suspects have bat-dung crazy names like Quantum Lynx. In Sleuth, published as donationware back in 1983, the suspects move around the mansion, can refuse to talk to you, and the murderer will kill you if you're not fast enough. None of these features are present in Murder Mystery Adventure, published 33 whole years later. Replay value: 0. Replay value of Sleuth: IT'S OVER 9000. Do yourself a favour and check it out at https://classicreload.com/sleuth.html
