Reviews
Positives: Visually the levels and the guns look great. Negatives: Cut scenes were laggy, frozen or otherwise bugged when playing 4 player cross platform for everyone at different times. When they did work voice work and models (specifically Johnson and Cortana) were off and didn't match the severity of the situations the characters were in. Johnson would smile at the camera constantly when talking about peoples deaths. It was off-putting. Cotana's model peaked at Halo 4 and has gone down significantly with every release which is weird because they have all been release by 343i. Enemy AI was crap, had many instance where we would walk into a room and 2-3 grenades were thrown at us other times we would just walk past enemies who didn't fire or were floating across the floor towards us. The extra missions added nothing to the over all story and were an actual determent to my experience of the game. Would have been better if they would have implemented levels based around The Fall of Reach novel to better lead into the Halo: CE campaign. Overall the gameplay is an issue at points but that could get fixed in updates if they plan further ones, but I highly doubt they will patch the cut scenes so if you are a huge fan of the universe and the lore I would not recommend this game. Better off playing the og on Halo MCC.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 4: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

This game is a terrible janky mirror image of a great game. It's only positive is that it looks nice. They made it clunky for no reason. Large delays when switching weapons or using melee before you can fire. Enemy melee attacks sometimes don't even have animations and will just kill you from ten feet away. The starting extra missions are just nothing. They read like fanfiction or ai generated slop. They added in extra dialogue where there didn't need to be and it most of the time just made things corny. Me and my friends had more fun reading funny/interesting sounding names in the end credits. TLDR Don't get it even on sale unless major changes are made and even then not at full price. Wait for a steep sale.
The sound seems muffled for the weapons along with the enemies being able to punch you from a distance and sometimes no animation at all. The cut scenes honestly felt AI generated and very...cringe? Graphics were nice but honestly the lighting in the game needs work and smoothing particle effects. Constant crashes will be fixed im sure as its very early. Overall would not recommend this to anyone in its current state. Even Nostalgia couldnt save it for me and my friends.
The good: - The Library was overworked a bit, and is more interesting. - The game is beautiful. - The game didn't crash. The bad: - The AI is terrible, they added more enemies to compensate, and some of the enemies, such as the Hunters, seem to cheat by always knowing where you are. - The dialogue was re-recorded and wasn't as good as the original. Imagine re-dubbing other masterpieces, such as The Lion King. Sgt. Johnson talked with more swagger, and less like a toughened military vet of the original. - The buildings in the original had a brutalist architecture, beautifying them (simply because the Unreal engine allowed 343 to), missed the point of the original art direction. - The game is unpolished, and its apparent deadlines drove the release. It would have been better if 343 had left out the prequel missions, and just focused on making Campaign Evolved a better game. And finally, 343 just haaaad to insert an unlikeable girl-boss in the prequel campaigns, who even disrespects Master Chief by insinuating his valor was actually propaganda. The current generation of writers are not very good at their jobs. If the employees at 343 are anything like the employees of Bethesda protesting after being let go, then its no wonder why games are struggling to appeal to gamers. If you want to sell games to gamers (your CUSTOMER) then hire gamers, and kick HR out of the room. Make games for the customers you have (who actually showed up on their own), not the customers you want. And unless you want to be let go 6 months from now, hire the best candidates for the job, not your pals from your own community.
Could have been a good game if they at least optimized it. Struggled to run on my desktop 7900 XTX at 1440p, and also struggled to run on my laptop RTX 5090 (just to test DLSS and frame gen). Both have similar performance, and I had around 50fps on low graphics, which is shocking. So according to Steam hardware statistics, most people will have a hard time running this game. After an hour of playing at a low framerate, with enemies getting stuck in walls and other AI bugs, I just refunded the game because I wasn't having very much fun. Also, aiming is set to toggle by default (instead of holding to aim) and there's no way to change it. It seems that they tried to give it a hybrid button layout, but what ended up happening is I would tap aim to quickly headshot an elite, but then get stuck in toggle aim because the game thought that's what I wanted. Performance and gameplay are both clunky. Would not recommend unless it's on sale and you have an RTX 5080 or better.
Played it for 5 hours and requested a refund. The graphic redesign is very impressive but after foolishly realizing they released a near full price AAA game with only the now 25 year old campaign AND having bad technical issues the price does not equal the amount of content. It hit nostalgia for a little bit but after, the 0 replayability for $50 hit even harder. 6/10 Not enough content.
The game is good but not great. ✅ Is it an enjoyable Halo game where you fight aliens and engage in cool battles that you've done before in the past? Yes it is. It has everything in a Halo game you've seen before but just the campaign and in Unreal Engine. You may or may not like that look for it but the game looks really good a certain points in the remake. The game also includes all of the weapons from the original game plus some that are sensible additions. You don't see many guns outside of the original arsenal in the main campaign unless its campaign remix or bonus missions. There are also slight changes to levels but nothing too drastic where you'll be questioning where or what you're doing if you remember them from the original. ❌ Honestly, it is a GOOD game and I do understand people's criticisms of it as someone who has played Halo 1 many times throughout my life. I believe the only criticism I truly have for this game is really the performance or artistic choices. Not to specify but I'll just say there are moments where in the original game cutscenes or story moments just slap and it just falls really short in this remake for no reason at all. I also didn't enjoy swapping from the original health system. 👌Mostly I enjoyed the gameplay and not so much the cutscenes/acting and campaign remix makes it fun to go through again. If the creative direction or gameplay changes bother you then classic Halo isn't here but in MCC next door (or if you have the OG one go for that). This remake blends a lot of elements from throughout the franchise that works out for the most part but I'd say to pick it up for a $30 or less purchase and don't be like me unless you think it's really worth it.
This review is coming from an OG Halo nerd. I've been playing Halo none-stop since I was a kid, through all of the titles, and I continue to play Halo: Infinite on the regular. This title has some major flaws I hope they improve on them via patches in the coming months: -Animation Quality: During cutscenes ex. The first cutscene of the game in the bonus mission the facial animations are hardly present -Movement: One thing I've noticed about modern games if the movement feels so much smoother than old titles, this game's movement feels stiff -Dialog: If you're going to re-write dialog from an existing classic game at least make the dialog good. There is something about the inflection in the voices that doesn't feel right at all. The voices need more energy. -Cutscene Framerate: Maxed at 30 FPS for some reason -AI Bugs: Elites walk backward towards the player when the player is in a vehicle -Equipment Bugs: The OS straight up fails to work -Large Battles/Spaces: One thing that made Halo revolutionary was it's large open campaign maps and big battles. In the bonus missions you're largely in the cramped interior of a covenant ship fighting small encounter after smaller encounter. Would have been much more fun if there were larger spaces with more units both allies and enemies The game isn't "bad" but it has it's short comings, I hope the dev team continues to work on improvements.
A game that tries to wear the skin of Halo, tries to look like, sound like, play like, and feel like Halo, yet manages to fail miserably at everything it does. I get 40fps playing at native 1440p, and need to turn it to Quality to get a stable frame rate. Also, Kornman00 was the Digsite leaker (you ought to stop leaking HW:1 & 2 source code Sean you'll get in trouble, you silly little sausage).
Go play the original. The voice lines for this game were delivered poorly, they had inappropriate emotional inflections that didn't make since with the scene tone. ("OH NO, HE DIED!" the character Cheered!) Chief was an emotional party cannon, I didn't see the character in him at all, think Superman in armor, Chief is a stoic solider, not a caped wonder. The cut scenes were lazy, instead of having a walking dialog, they chop cut to a random cliff side or camera angle to avoid work. The animation they did do felt off, the Smiles were way to wide on Everyone's face. The story vaguely follows the original, but this felt more like a poor parody than a remaster. the Graphics don't make up for the poor execution of this game. GO GET MASTER CHEIF COLLECTION INSTEAD! 6 amazing games for the price of this travesty.
