Another Halo 100% Completed. Even though I enjoyed a lot of the game I can't praise them for remaking a game that already had all it's core elements mapped out like story, weapons, enemies etc. They did a great job in remaking Halo CE, and I loved that they allowed players to use things that you couldn't in the original like using the wraith and energy sword. Implementing new weapons from other Halo games and a load of new and interesting skulls made for a refreshing experience. I also have to commend them for reworking the infamous Library level. They knew it was a slug fest and very repetitive and wouldn't hold up in a modern game. The change to the level while also keeping the integral parts of the mission intact was very good. My gripe with the game is mostly the price, new missions and some glitches that were not present in the original. - Firstly, price. Asking for $90 AUD is crazy when all it is is a campaign game. If you're gonna ask for $90 you better do more than remake a story that's already been told, add 3 new missions with a new unique story and some skulls/modifiers/gameplay features. - Secondly, the new missions are boring and uninteresting. A lot of the rooms and parts of the missions feel so similar. The gameplay loop was exactly the same. Run to room, shoot enemies, run to next room, shoot enemies. At least at the end they put together a space fighting segment. Too many times enemies spawn behind closed doors and won't move with the enemy randomizer skull, Johnson taking ages to press buttons for us. It was just not very interesting. People were way to harsh on Williams but man, the ending where Williams is sitting on a pile of brutes with her squad was so hilariously cringe and hard to watch. It just feels like it was written by a millennial that snuck into the office. Thirdly, glitches. It was pretty depressing to see some of the prominent glitches be removed like bridge fall on Control Room and door skip on Silent Cartographer but there's some new glitches like if you die right after getting off any elevator the checkpoint you got on the elevator doesn't work. Twice me and my friends had to restart our LASO run on 343 Guilty Spark and Control Room because it would spawn 2 people dead outside the map. It's almost like the game can't handle restarting 3 people onto a moving elevator. We've had people spawn inside walls (at least they didnt die and restart us), random disconnects and crashes. Too many times we had to restart our runs. and my favourite glitch that I just want to document... Me and my friend were running remix and we completed Pillar of Autumn. Then when the next mission Halo booted up we were both stuck in a void. Complete darkness. We could barely move like we were stuck inside a box and in the distance we could see 2 covenant portable shields, a door that you would see on the Pillar of Autumn and 2 sentinels flying pass us. Probably the most odd experience I've had in Halo and we had to double check "What the hell, what mission are we on, what did it try to load?" and we were on mission Halo. One restart and we were back on track. These glitches I like. It annoys me because I know Halo Studios can create a good campaign experience but the bonus missions don't have me in high hopes. At this rate I'd prefer remakes of older Halos (apparently it's confirmed Halo 2 and 3 are in development). As it currently stands, my favourite Halo campaign experince from 343/Halo Studios would have to be Infinite even though I'd likely not play it a second time but it wasn't the worse experince. The missions were quite unique and different from one another. At least better than these bonus missions.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 4: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

EDIT: I have never posted a review before, but for the love I have for this franchise, it just felt like I needed to say something. TLDR: Steer clear, just play MCC with the Ruby's Halo: RELOADED mod and you'll get most of the experience that this has to offer without all the brain trauma. I would have accepted this game is it was maybe 30$ and as far as I can see, all you're realistically getting is a shiny coat of paint (and boy is it shiny... people with astigmatisms watch out), a retuned sandbox, layout changes to the missions and "quality of life and modern gaming feature". I would be very hard pressed to say that this game has done anything particularly well that aren't all pieces that were taken from every other Bungie game. Between what changes were made with the original campaign and the absolute joke that are the 3 new bonus mission: is that this game looks gorgeous, from a pure fidelity perspective. Generic, sci-fi game, but gorgeous. However, like sprint, like QoL, they aren't what make games fun and enjoyable. I'm also not convinced there's a good argument to be made that any of the Halo Studios games look better than Halo 3, short of the lack of polygons and dated textures, Halo 3 absolutely blows this game out of the water, but I guess, more eye candy? Line dialogue delivery is often very awkward, has no weight to it, and worse than the original delivery. In the bonus missions, most of it utterly unbearable, cutscenes seem poorly acted, constant audio desyncing issues, terrible scripting (both the voice acting and the programming kind), and truly cements that 343 (erm, acktually, halo studios), has no idea with these characters. Soundtracks are from previous games are recycled and queued in in such inappropriate and bizarre moment, repetitively looping in obnoxious and infuriating ways, weapons feel anemic and a far cry of the crisp refinement that we saw over years of Bungie games, weird animation locks, reused assets from previous Bungie titles and worse AI. The best way I can describe it is it all just feels like a terribly put together kit bash of someone else's ideas forced into UE5 tacked on with some "modern features". But hey the water looks good. I guess. There are pockets of goodness in this remake but so much of it marred by the fact that you didn't do most of the work. You copied someone else's homework, used different ink, different paper, replaced some words by looking up synonyms in a thesaurus, rubber stamping it and called it yours. This game is a hollow shell of the what it's attempting to remake and is a worse version of it in almost every way, made by a team that has no idea what their doing with the IP and will continue to forever drive this franchise into the ground until there is nothing left of it but dust and echoes. I was really hoping there was going to be something here, literally anything, but all I am left with is apathy and absolutely no hope for the future of this franchise. The only reason why I will be continuing to play this game is almost certainly some form of Stockholm syndrome and a compulsion to 100% the achievements. Also the MCC MP achievements are a drag send help please.
Buggy, crashes disconnects
Prequal mission bad, game run bad on 50 series card, voice acting bad, gameplay changes decent. MCC less money and have 6 games. Just play MCC
Enjoy re-logging into Microsoft EVERY TIME you go to play the game! At least thats the case for me. So annoying. Also some of the cut scenes are blurry and AI junky. Clearly relying on AI to make this happen, and not doing it well. At some moments its fun and feels like Halo again. Great graphics but thats not enough to make me stop raging over having to log into microsoft EVERY TIME!!!! Please fix this. Also no local co-op play, very disappointing. A few times now the frame gen or something gets really screwy and the input lag is so terrible the game is unplayable. Lots to be upset about and not enough pretty graphics to make up for it. Feels like are really cheap AI remake for the money. Sad...
Halo: Campaign Devolved
Preface: Go get Halo: Master Chief Collection and play this campaign there if you're thinking of buying this. Do not buy this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The only thing it has is nostalgia. The engine sucks. The game is horribly desynced online. Enemies literally just disappear and rubber band around. The consistency of enemy health and their damage doesn't seem to be there. Like, why does a flood brute take 3 rockets to kill but they also take 8 shotgun shells to the face and 3 rockets to kill? In a lot of cases, when fighting the flood especially, shotgun shots go straight through them doing nothing. The sentinels are obviously bugged doing way more damage than intended without even showing them shooting a beam at you. Idk how many times sentinels were looking away from me and I'd come out of cover to immediately start taking damage like they're shooting a laser at me. I mean, one time I had just applied an over shield, came out of cover by jumping and was dead before I hit the ground. The Warthogs float and slide across the ground much more than they ever have. The inputs have delay when driving the warthog. Idk if it's the newer graphic engines devs are using but games just feel like clunky ♥♥♥♥ nowadays. A lot of times I don't have a frame of reference to compare it to so It's harder to notice, but I played the original 3 Halo games many times, none of them felt like this. I don't think they bothered testing this for playability on Legendary, and I firmly believe if you just go play the original Halo CE you'll enjoy it more than this, if you can get past the graphics, I swear the older games are worth it. I've played plenty of wonky unfinished games and very seldom do they try to charge $50 for them, and I get way more playtime so it's fine. This is like 8 hours of mediocre gameplay for $50.... You'll have more fun playing any of the original 3 Halo campaigns, so like 90% of the world, they're making slop to fleece people. Capitalism is ruining everything. 3/10
A game that tries to wear the skin of Halo, tries to look like, sound like, play like, and feel like Halo, yet manages to fail miserably at everything it does. I get 40fps playing at native 1440p, and need to turn it to Quality to get a stable frame rate. Also, Kornman00 was the Digsite leaker (you ought to stop leaking HW:1 & 2 source code Sean you'll get in trouble, you silly little sausage).
Time to softly retire 343 studios.
