Despite what the hours say, I played most of this offline on a laptop, I have beat the game a couple of times, and I am currently playing through on the hardest difficulty. I wanted to set the record straight, many reviews say this is an RNG mess, I view that as nothing but a skill issue. The game is hard genuinely, it is demanding and the "puzzles" require you to spread your attention across multiple facets. The RNG elements I never felt were unfair, for example spoilers for one level
There is a level were everyone has been poisoned, you must dig out of a cave, find a cure, and resuscitate members as they experience symptoms of the disease. The RNG is which members are affected and the sequence for the virus. You can prepare the device for the afflicted, and the sequence is so if you have to restart or just want the answer you can't.
Also there is a much more lax difficulty if you only want the story and no puzzles. The story, music, art, and general vibe are superb. I adore this game. It's ok to not be good at games
This game isn't for everyone. It's hard. Brutally hard. They added a mode to make it easier, which is good since people with brains don't like smashing their head against a brick wall like I do. But the game rewards extremely hard resource and time management, with RNG thrown into the mix to gum things up even if your plan was perfect. I love the story, I like the characters, and Sgt. Abraham Burden is a character who fascinated me as the story unfolded. It is a game that not only expects you to lose, but demands you lose to gain better understanding of what to do, when, and why to reinforce some very important story messages I won't spoil. It is not a perfect game by any means, but it is a game you either see as a challenge to overcome, or you don't like what the game has to offer, and that's okay.
This game could be better. My biggest issue with it is the sluggishness of the gameplay of a point-and-click style but in scenarios that call for quick thinking and decision-making. I like difficult games, but the difficulty for me came more from trying to react to something but needing to wait for dialogue to end and the menu to open, then waiting for the dialogue to end again and on and on and on, rather than from the decisions and mechanics of the game. The RNG fest is kinda bad too, but if the game were less sluggish, this wouldn't be such a problem
(Played on Steam Deck) In many ways this game is heartbreakingly almost-good. The story is rather intriguing, but getting to experience it can be a slog of RNG. The difficulty is intentionally brutal (at least on the normal mode, which you need to unlock extras & concept art). While I don't mind a game forcing me to retry many times, some of the chapters are brutal slogs where a single unlucky event can lead to large amounts of lost progress. Then there is the major problem of stability/crashes. There is no mid-level saving, only when you complete a chapter. This means that when the game crashes, which it is unfortunately prone to, you can be forced to restart entire chapters. I've never actually completed the final mountain-climbing DLC chapter, not because I am put off by the difficulty, but because I've had 2 separate runs make it far, only for the game to crash and everything is gone. The story just couldn't keep me pushing through hours of repetition due to annoying RNG and crashes. Clearly, the most appealing part of this game is the story, which is of course subjective for many people. I found it very interesting to follow, when I could, but having completed the game I am left somewhat disappointed. There is great world-building and I was invested in the characters, and I deeply enjoyed the meta-twist in the final chapter. This is where my compliments for the story end, however, as what the story has in creativity, it lacks in actual depth/exploration. I actually enjoy more philosophical/abstract game stories, but this tries to straddle the line between literal & engaging, and philosophical, and I think it falls short. I just didn't find this game to be very profound, even when it was trying to be. Lastly, the unlockable extras are kinda just... lame? I just wasn't impressed by the extra lore writing, concept art, and music. I don't think it was worth playing through the normal (hard) difficulty. This game doesn't suck. I had some fun and enjoyed some parts of the story. If it was more stable I might even recommend playing through the easy difficulty. Compared to many other narrative-heavy games though, it isn't something special. If you want a profound story which really makes you reflect, look somewhere else.
God watched me kill a man.

Also the games difficulty settings are very accessible so you can always lower it if you struggle.
A huge waste of time.
When your buddy dies in torturing you can still talk to him as if he's alive. This is like mission 2 of the game. That is the level of polish that this has. Also you need to survive 20 days of torture and each day is at least 3 mins of hearing the same dialogue over and over again and if you misclick a response and die you start the 20 days from the start. Not fun don't buy.
I don't really get this game. It's a resource/time management game disguised as a "puzzle" game, but the puzzle is that you need to know the solution/patterns ahead of time to survive.
