This sucks even for kid standards which I assume is the main audience the game was made for. There are couple things that grind my gears like why in the tutorial there is no mention of the drift feature, by playing the game you wouldn't know you can drift in the first place. Another thing is the auto-pilot, who wants to watch a game being played for them? Also the short ~1 hour long advanture (campaign/story) doesn't make the game much better. Last thing is the repetitive gameplay, but that goes for all kart racing games in general so you be the judge of that if you're into this genre. I appreciate the colorful graphics, a bit of story and up to 4 player split screen support. I guess, when you're high with your friends this game could be fun. 3/10
Really really fun kart racer full of charm. Really like what they’ve done here and am thoroughly enjoying it. Pros: -Looks great with detailed maps -plays really well on Steam Deck at Epic settings -Drifting is perfection -Decent sense of speed mainly when boosting -Good voice acting with enough to make the story a pleasant addition in adventure mode -Split screen play -Absolutely love the perfect start system where you can hold and release A to keep the gauge within the green zone to get a boost at the start of the match. Don’t know why but it’s an enjoyable experience. Cons: -Really needs a setting to disable the game reading every menu option to you as you scroll through the menus -would be great to be able to disable in race dialogue separately from adventure mode dialogue/story narratives -would be nice to be able to shoot all weapons backwards vs only one weapon that does so -desperately needs Steam Cloud support -Crystal Cave map has really bad performance issue, low 20s on the Steam Deck while other maps are 60fps on Epic
Doesn't feel wholly fair to review an obvious kids game when I'm not a kid, but the auto-pilot being on by default, the drift mechanics left unexplained, the terribly easy difficulty, the constant announcer, the inability to rebind the controls. I can't really say it's 'good'. Easy to pick up and play though, likely can get competitive with friends, but I cannot say it's worth the asking price. It's also really high spec for a kids game so that's also a potential deterrent for a child given the budget or hand-me-down PC to play on.
Review After 100% Achievements Achievement Count: 23 Time to 100%: ~3hr Difficulty: ★✩✩✩✩ Genre: Racing, Adventure, Cartoon Fun Rating: 6/10 Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart is a pretty fun cartoon racing game that has resemblances to Mario Kart. Most of the achievements can be obtained almost afk’d by putting the game into easy mode and letting the cpu race for you. If you need a guide, I have one posted! I enjoyed playing this racing game even though I really haven’t played a lot of them the past couple years. The controls feel nice, especially the drifting. The graphics are nice to look at and the map variety is a big plus. The price may be a little steep in my opinion, but catching this game on sale will grant you a great time and an easy perfect game.
Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart is a Nintendo Switch game that somehow ended up on Steam. It's a somewhat dumbed down ripoff of Mario Kart but with dinosaurs that look like they were ripped off from an Ice Age ripoff... not to put too fine a point on it, but this game is really derivative. The game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. The cartoony graphics are not exactly bleeding edge, but they are tolerable. In fact there's very little from a direct technical perspective where this fails apart from the Nintendo Switch centric game design. Because this is designed for handheld/portable gaming appliances, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the low power handheld gaming appliances that the game was designed for. These are unfortunate compromises and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was a second thought for the mobile game developers. The game is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for low power handhelds forces upon a game. While this might run well on a Steam Deck, we must remember the vast majority of gamers here are gaming on PC. The gameplay here is dumbed down even for a kart racer, making this appear to be designed more for younger kids, which is also fine, but it's going to limit the appeal to most gamers, especially given this review is evaluating Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart as a PC game, not as a Nintendo Switch game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 8 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this Nintendo Switch game is to be expected. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart has the gamer gouging price of $40 USD, for which you could easily get any number of contemporary AAA games. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. They're seriously charging AAA pricing for something that is definitely not a AAA game. If this was $5 I'd probably say it was even borderline recommendable... but the price here must be some kind of joke.
My kids and I have enjoyed this game so far. I've had a hard time finding games with Auto Steer. My son has mild cp and is just learning video games, and this was at the perfect level for him with the bonus that I can race with him. If anyone has other suggestions on games that hold your hand as much as this game I am interested in more options.
Ok tier one, 15 tracks, but NOT worth at all 40 € because campaign mode can be completed in 1.5 hours ...< Final Note : 11 / 20
Had a great time playing this game with my friends but this is a terrible game. The drifting is just a speed boost button as the direction does not matter. Its laggy and if you play with 4 player it will crash, it happened every time i booted the game up. Just get Mario Kart if you have a Nintendo System or Sonic Team Racing on steam as it is the same price and significantly better. The alternative is Sonic All-Stars Racing which is $10 on steam. I got this game for $1 and i would not pay anymore than that. P.S. If you look at their other games they all are copy and pasted with the same racing format just with a different coat of paint.
this game feels unfinished and it probably is... I tried to 100% the game but i cant seem to connect controllers to get the last two achievements
4/10 needs more content - game auto drives for you + very basic in game drift + 4 player local co-op 8 drivers to choose from, they dont appear to make a difference + voice acting + works on windows 7 15 tracks 5 items in game 1 coconut to throw forward a roar to hit things ahead of you an explosion onion thing to toss in front a trap plant to leave on track and a shield decent game for children to play oooh its its 40$?? yeah, way better racing games on steam for far less 1 other item that i dont know what it is, im guessing a last place boost catch up item of some kind. played 7 races and never got it or saw it
