Three thousand years in the future, mankind has carved a bloody path towards domination of the known universe. Self-proclaimed as a divine race and beyond reproach as a species, they view all alien races as inferior.

One of the first strategy games I ever owned back in the day. Still looks decent even now and has features even most modern RTS games still dont have. Story is good even though it gets hard. Now for the Elephant in the room... This game crashes, A LOT, if you dont follow the directions for getting the stable setup on it. Heck I think it didnt even work for me on Windows 10 until I followed the guide on it; however once I did that it stopped crashing completely. Overall I will keep my recommendation of it as long as you follow the stability steps since its such a unique and fun game.
Using the fixes mentioned in the discussions section of the game I managed to get the main menu working, which allowed me to adjust the usual things located there such as graphics, sounds, etc. and look at the possible tutorial/campaign missions you should be able to play. Sadly the slightest adjustment in the graphic options will result in a flurry of error messages (which I ignored while starting up the game) and trying to launch a tutorial, campaign or skirmish will promptly crash the game. -2/7 Not enough sci-fi space battles
So much potential, so little substance. I managed to actually play the game, through clicking error boxes, creating directories as suggested by Future2012. It was an interesting idea and I usually LOVE RTS type games see Star Trek: Armada 1 and 2, Homeworld 2. The genes and blood thing was pretty cool, but it just failed to deliver a playable game.
Yep, it's exactly as I remembered it. This is indeed Genesis Rising.
Can't even start the game without a ton of errors, and no sound.

Sadly, I cannot even play past part 2 of the campaign. Game fails to load the Mothership models and prevents the game from progressing. Has a neat idea of building mod-able turrets and accessories on the ships you can build but is crippled by an unfriendly user interface and riddled with bugs. I played the tutorials and two skirmish matches with the AI. It needed more glut removed. Warzone 2100 or Impossible Creatures are two games with similar concepts for anyone wanting to play a game with the cool idea this game wasn't able to utilize. I only recommend watching a Let's Play so you can see how the game is meant to work.
Tags: Tactical - Sci Fi Sandbox Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library (2.5GB) TLDR: First tutorial map was outright broken, no audio, trapped completely zoomed in on a ship, couldnt scroll the map, tutorial would not advance. Had to CTRL ALT DEL After reloading the game my mouse would refuse to move in diagonal, so I boosted sensitivity and launched second map, voice acting and the 3d was good enough, seemed like it was a tactical game about using special abilities with a genetic flavor to defeat enemies, explore and get more genes and whatnot. Unfortunately the gene tab wouldnt open and it was critical to defeating that mission, along with the janky mouse movement I decided that was far enough of a trial to axe this game permanently Too bad I kinda liked where this one was going conceptually
Sorry guys, i played this game when i was a teen and although the story line was a little lame the game play ideas where inventive and the scenarios really made u think strategically. this game however is loaded with bugs. straight from the start no ship enters the screen leaving u with nothing to play. havent found a fix for this yet. recommend buying actual disk. seen multiple people reviewing the same thing. wish i played this when i got it so that i knew it worked as i dont think i can return this now
