The gameplay makes my arms a bit sad, but the audio visual experience this game provided was well worth it. Love this kind of stuff, cheers to the dev for going out on a limb and trying something weird and wild. It's not for everyone. Like if you're epileptic this game will probably kill you. But if you like really strange minimalistic stuff and don't mind flashing colours, try it out.
BE AWARE of this game and developer. They are childish in the forums and even take to name calling and calling on fanatics top white knight for them in the forum to try to derail from legitimate criticism. The game is also hyper epileptic and did not mention it at one point. It's not just "some flashing lights" It's CONSTANT flashing and warping effects that even makes me, someone without epilepsy, have a huge headache and feel like I'm gonna puke and die. in short: DON'T BUY THIS GAME, THE DEVELOPER IS A SELF-RIGHTEOUS BULLY!

Textbook example of how poorly you can teach the player to play your game, even if it is as simple as pressing the spacebar. The game is also very passive-aggressive for some reason*. *as is the developer, mocking the players on the forums. So there's that I guess.
GAUGE is exactly what it promises: a stripped-down, experimental sport experience laser-focused on rhythm, timing, and psychedelic visuals. Played exclusively on my Steam Deck OLED (SteamOS/Linux), it ran flawlessly – even installed on a Micro SD card. No crashes, hitches, or compatibility issues whatsoever. The Good: Hypnotic & Unique: The minimalist visuals combined with intense psychedelic effects and pulsing electronic music create a genuinely unique, trance-like atmosphere. It feels more like an interactive art piece than a traditional game. Deck-Perfect: Runs like a dream on the Steam Deck. Simple controls suit the handheld perfectly. Variety: The 5 different game modes offer distinct challenges, and the achievements provide goals. Pure Challenge: It's undeniably difficult and requires precise focus. You will feel the tension. Be Aware: Brutally Hard: The difficulty curve is steep. I personally lost interest before finishing simply because it demanded more persistence than I had at the time. It's rewarding but punishing. Extremely Minimalist: "Simple graphics" is an understatement. The visuals are stark, relying entirely on the psychedelic effects for impact. This is core to its design but won't appeal to everyone. Heed the Warning: The flashing/psychedelic effects are intense and constant. Seriously consider the epilepsy warning before playing. Verdict: While GAUGE ultimately wasn't my personal cup of tea long-term due to its high difficulty and niche minimalism, I absolutely recommend it. It delivers a focused, challenging, and truly unique audio-visual experience that runs perfectly on the Steam Deck. If you enjoy experimental games, rhythm challenges, or minimalist aesthetics pushed to trippy extremes, GAUGE is absolutely worth checking out. Just know you're in for a tough ride!
i dont know how exactly this got into my library but for years i decide to reinstall it and play it a bit, its actually so stupidly fun, along with having really good music.
