ADHD friends, beware…
…this game is more overwhelming and distracting than anything, at least for me. Plus there's some lack of transparency about the future of the game. I'm an idler and productivity tool lover. Having at the bottom of my screen or on my secondary monitor cute stuff doing their stuff while I do my stuff is greatly soothing, but with this one I have the complete opposite experience I've expected. What did I expected: an adorable bottom-of-the-screen idler with hamsters doing their activities, with slow progress over time, upgrades, etc. What I got: something irritating with grating sounds, overwhelming as heck with things popping everywhere all the time. No options to disable certain sounds, there's just music and SFX, no option to reduce motion and animated elements… nothing. Within 10 minutes, I turn all the game sounds off, and hide it in the corner (with this annoying "notification dot", popping all the time). This isn't an idle game, this is a chore requiring your attention at all time. It reminds more of some virtual pet (F2P) mobile game than a real cute idle game running on its own. Here's a copy/paste of my suggestions posted on the Discord, listing everything that are terribly distracting, even frustrating:
Hello! Would you consider adding "distraction-free" options to the game? For now, it seems not possible to just let the lil' hamsters doing their activity; I wish to be able to : • disable the speech bubbles • disable the working station bubbles • hide the notification "dot" (I think it's superfluous to always have one when collecting food/green gem, those are always getting collected, it make it looks there's something nice added to check but it's not and it's always there…) • muting specific sounds (not all SFX, but like the working station and especially the irritating helper sounds) This is a shame that I have to hide the whole game at the moment instead of letting it run at the bottom of my screen while doing other stuff, in addition to turning off all sounds, because it's overwhelming me instead of being relaxing and cute idling. Even my non-ADHD friends think the game is too much distracting. I'd be great if some sort of toggle options could be added, thanks you!
They've replied this was a great suggestion, that they'll discuss it internally, but that I should "understand that it might be difficult to develop and implement it right away." Doll, I didn't expect you to do it right now, or next week lol. And seeing the Discord is quite empty, I don't expect them to address what I wished for. Anyways… So yeah, in details, dear sweet Hamtaro, I'm sorry, but shush the heck up: the hamster talks ALL-THE-TIME, they don't shut up. They're not talking as they have a voice or something, there are several speech bubbles in a row popping on the screen every second at super speed (you don't even have the time to read them, but they do take half the area of your screen, that yes…). The working stations have popping bubbles as soon as there's ONE resource to collect, so they're popping in and out non-stop, and of course, with an annoying sound each time. There are new notifications every second as well, as soon as one ressource is collected, even automatically, even one you already know! Maybe a me-problem, but this is stressing me out as heck, I've already disabled that "red dot" on my phone, in games, I expect it to be at least revelant and useful, not telling me each second I've collected one more of the same crap I've already collected for the 10,000th time. Oh yeah, if you hide the whole game to just have its icon on the corner of your screen, that notification dot will still be there popping taunting you… The last straw that made me quit the game, fortunately under 2 hours, is the robot helper, making grating and overly irritating sounds ALL THE TIME, even when it's not working, and for some reason it's more loud than anthing else. Ugh! Yeah, I think this game pissed me off more than it should, but here we are… I couldn't possibly do anything else with this overstimulating distraction at the bottom of my screen, or on my secondary screen.

I don't like to downvote a game this cute, but aside all that, the lack of transparency about a mysterious in-game currency with supposedly no purpose as for now (why add it then?) is what makes me even more confident about not recommending this in game in its current state. Here's the reply of a member of the team on Discord (after they put a LMAO emoji on my question about it but whatever…): "The various essences [mysterious currency] might have an original purpose, but no one knows the truth. For now, they are simply exchanged for gold. 🙂" This is all they've been replying about this to people asking about it. No one knows the truth, yeah, right… Me thinks this might be some sort of "premium" currency like in F2P mobile games despite the game being paid, and not having (yet) the "in-app purchase" tag on the store page. Something that might be added in the future but they don't say anything now to not scare away potential players. I'm just making suppositions, but I find this very weird, suspicious, even sketchy, especially given this is LINE behind this game (yeah, this is not some indie game dev studio), this wouldn't be surprising, there are already gacha mechanics in the game working with real-time, so…

As long as the game isn't more ADHD friendly (and I do think it currently could piss off people without ADHD as well), and that this mysterious in-game currency purpose isn't officially disclosed, with transparency and honesty, I can't recommend it as for now, even if it's cheap. I'll check once in a while if this situation has evolved, and may reconsider buying it again.
Played since the demo and its finally here!!!
It's so cuteee, especially the interactions they have with the items in game and other ways to earn more coins for getting more furniture! I'll be recommending this to my friends! Dev's did a great job from the beta till the release to improve it.
Playing this game is a major stress reliever! It's like watching Hamtaro, except you get to guide your little buddies on how to live! I don't mind playing this game for hours on end, as there's so many things to discover as you play and level up more.
I've really been enjoying Hamster Talk! One of the reasons I decided to try it was because I've been playing Bongo Cat, and the two games have a similar fun and casual vibe. Like Bongo Cat, Hamster Talk is simple to pick up, relaxing to play, and surprisingly entertaining. The hamster characters are cute, the interactions are enjoyable, and it's the kind of game you can play for a few minutes or much longer without getting bored. If you like lighthearted games with charming animations and satisfying gameplay, Hamster Talk is definitely worth checking out. As someone who already enjoys Bongo Cat, Hamster Talk felt familiar in a good way while still offering its own unique charm. Overall, it's a fun and adorable game that I've had a great time playing.
Fun and cute idle game to have on the side while you are playing a different game or while doing something important. I wish I get to keep my progress from the demo :<
If you're looking for a low-maintenance, maximum-coziness desktop companion, this is it. Hamster Talk sits perfectly in the background of your screen while you work, study, or do other tasks. The hamsters are incredibly cute and highly reactive when you click on them. It requires very little attention but brings an immediate smile every time you look over and see them spinning on wheels or wandering around their town. A perfect "second monitor" casual game!
Cute and relaxing idle game! The hamsters are adorable, and I love having them on my screen while working or gaming. The interactions are fun, and the room-building aspect gives me something to work toward without feeling stressful. Great game for cozy-game fans!

Hamster Talk, developed and published by LINE Games Corporation, takes a simple concept and transforms it into a surprisingly engaging idle simulation centered around adorable virtual hamsters that live directly on your desktop. Rather than focusing on traditional goals, combat, or story-driven progression, the game is designed to accompany players throughout their daily computer use. Whether you are working, browsing the internet, or enjoying other games, your tiny hamster companions continue to explore, interact, and go about their routines in the background. This creates an experience that feels less like a conventional game and more like a charming digital pet ecosystem that exists alongside your everyday activities. The most appealing aspect of Hamster Talk is its ability to create attachment through small but meaningful interactions. Players can feed, pet, and care for a growing collection of hamsters, each displaying cute animations and behaviors that give them distinct personalities. The game successfully captures the appeal of keeping virtual pets by making every interaction feel rewarding without becoming overly complicated. Watching the hamsters wander around the desktop, react to attention, and interact with various objects gives the experience a cozy and comforting atmosphere. The visual presentation reinforces this feeling through colorful artwork and expressive animations that make every hamster look lively and lovable. While the desktop companion feature is the centerpiece, Hamster Talk offers more depth than its premise initially suggests. Players gradually expand their activities through the farming systems found in Popo Farm. Hamsters can be assigned to cultivate crops, gather resources, and contribute to a steady flow of materials that support further progression. Growing produce and managing production tasks add a layer of light strategy without disrupting the game's relaxed nature. The farming mechanics serve as a satisfying progression system that rewards occasional check-ins while remaining true to the idle design philosophy. Customization also plays a significant role in keeping the experience engaging over time. Players can decorate and personalize their hamster village with a variety of structures, decorations, and interactive objects. What makes this feature particularly enjoyable is that the hamsters actively use and interact with these items, making the town feel alive rather than merely decorative. As players unlock additional customization options, they gain the freedom to create unique layouts and environments that reflect their personal preferences. This sense of ownership encourages long-term investment and gives players reasons to continue expanding their virtual community. The social components further strengthen the game's appeal. Hamster Talk allows players to visit the towns of others, interact with fellow hamster enthusiasts, and participate in a shared community space. These features add a welcome layer of connectivity without introducing competitive pressure. Instead of focusing on leaderboards or aggressive progression races, the game encourages friendly interactions and appreciation of other players' creativity. This social structure complements the overall relaxing tone and helps create a welcoming environment for casual players. Of course, Hamster Talk is not intended for everyone. Players who prefer fast-paced action, deep strategy systems, or extensive narrative content may find its deliberately slow progression lacking excitement. Much of the enjoyment comes from observing, collecting, decorating, and occasionally checking in on your hamster companions. However, this slower pace is also what makes the game effective. It understands its audience and delivers exactly the type of stress-free experience many players seek when looking for a relaxing companion game. From a technical standpoint, the game remains accessible thanks to modest system requirements and a lightweight design that allows it to comfortably run alongside other applications. This accessibility reinforces the core concept of maintaining a persistent virtual hamster world that quietly accompanies players throughout the day. The game's user-friendly approach ensures that virtually anyone can jump in and begin building their hamster community without a steep learning curve. Overall, Hamster Talk succeeds by embracing simplicity and executing its ideas with charm and consistency. The combination of desktop companion features, virtual pet care, farming progression, customization systems, and community interaction creates an experience that feels warm, inviting, and surprisingly rewarding over long periods. It may not offer the excitement of larger simulation games, but it excels at providing comfort, companionship, and lighthearted entertainment. For players who enjoy idle games, virtual pets, and cozy management experiences, Hamster Talk stands out as a delightful addition to the genre. Rating: 8/10
