DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!! it's basically abandonware and a scam, even if they have it on sale! Also the images on Steam are NOTHING like the actual game. They stopped giving updates 1 month after "release" in 2023 (released in April, stopped updates in May) I bought the game and did not play it at launch due to all the launch bugs & overwhelmingly negative reviews about available content, connection issues, bugs. etc. Turns out barely anything got fixed, and their promised content (additional chapters, zombie mode) never came. They also deleted all Gambit discord chat channels besides one and simply just...don't care about it. Additionally they (XREAL) released a video about Zero Caliber 2 (https://youtu.be/yEe2UqF3MGc?t=314) and said the following about Gambit: "...share our failed adventures as co-developers and publishers of Gambit". So even they see it as a fail. Unfortunately I can't get a refund anymore since the 2 week period after purchase is long over for me, but I honestly wish I never gave my money to XREAL. Never going to buy any of their games again

After 6 hours and completing the campaign I sadly can't recommend this game. Beginning with the advertisement of the game. If you look at the majority of the screenshots and the first promotional trailer you can see how the game es shadows, nice lighting (also on weapons), (volumetric) fog and it looks like what you would expect from a PCVR game. I even would say that's the minimum you should have in a game visually in 2023. But the game doesn't look anything advertised. Gambit feels it's in "full bright" mode, baked shadows and even those are spare, nothing else. Everything looks hollow and you see the mobile platform Quest 2 was the main focus. There are no graphic options inside the game as everything is already set to low. If you want to use scaling you need to rely on the super sampling provided by SteamVR or maybe Oculus too. This is 2023 and not a console game from 2000. The overall world looks empty, everyhting is just a square and corners everywhere, no real roundness, feels lifeless. Also here you see the pure optimization to make it work on a mobile platform. It IS a step back from Zero Caliber and even that wasn't the prettiest game. The gameplay is okayish. Your run of the mill coop shooter. Enter arena, shoot everyone until enemies stop spawning, search for hidden buttons, valves, switches for unlocks, move to next area. Enemies are pretty braindead. Hit detection on the player is lackluster and you get downed not even knowing from where as the indicator is barely noticable. But that's not that big of a deal since this game isn't difficult. There are doors where you need a keycard but this game does not explain where or how you get those. I found one keycard in the second last level of chapter one. Maybe you keep them and you need to replay the whole chapter? Who knows, the game doesn't tell you. It's a very generic shooter and the worst thing is the false advertisement on the store page. The game looks bad for a PCVR game. It really does. Also I heard that a complete game was promised but chapter 2 and 3 are locked. So it even feels like an Early Access title but it's released as a full version.

Sadly the game is very bad. Graphics are good but the fighting does not feel impactful at all, plus there is no proper story progression through the level but you are rather thrown in an arena where enemies keep spawning out of nowhere and you have to fight them. I forced myself to complete the 1st level but could not really struggle any more so I gave up 1 min into the 2nd level... the fights felt like a never ending loop of randomly spawning enemies with no indication of how much remains until the level completes. Booooring..... I would have refunded if I had not bought it during my vacation (due to summer sales) which made me test it after the refund period was over. I have not even completed 1 hour of play and do not intend to get back to it. uninstalled.

first things first i do not understand the hate on this game, yeah sure the game may be difficult as all hell but its fun asf. The game may be fairly unfinished but this is a small studio. this game is a solid 10/10 purely on the fact that it is entertaining

Наверное вам интересно, что не так с этой игрой? Откуда такие оценки? По трейлерам и скриншотам же выглядит здорово, правда? Чтож, перед вами бесконечное уныние, вас запирают на арене, насылают огромное количество одинаковых врагов которые надирают вам задницу, кое как их побеждаете, переходите в следующую область и по кругу. И всё это не заканчивается и не заканчивается, вроде как в этой игре должно быть разное оружие, но до него мы так и не дошли, за те ужасные два часа что мы с кентом это терпели, нам не дали ничего кроме убогих отвратительных пистолетов, которые даже урона не наносят. Вишенка на торте - у игры нет настроек графики, вообще никаких, отсутствует как данность. А добивающим - из неё нельзя выйти, так же не существует кнопки, только через диспетчер задач.

This game is underwhelming. If you want to experience quest 2 standalone graphics on a high end pc, buy it. XREAL, did you forget that pc configs are widely different? Where are the options to improve the graphics? You managed to publish a game that looks significantly worse, than its predecessor. The hit system looks like it was taken right out of the games of the last millenium.

If you wanna shoot things. it's good. Otherwise it lacks charm, it's very janky, and multiplayer crashes constantly. I like the game, but it needs some work.
