Reviews
Honestly I don't feel like writing a whole review for this, so I'll keep it brief. I get the developers wanted to remove save scumming, but sometimes it'd down to complete RNG if you get put in a practically unwinnable situation. I'd end up spending 20 or so minutes getting almost to the end, just to have 5 intruders teleport to my ship and then blow up my medical and oxygen rooms. If you hate RNG dependent games, I don't think you'll find this very enjoyable. Maybe you will, who knows. But TLDR, you have to get very lucky to have an okay run. If you get unlucky, you have to restart the entire thing. Not recommended.
An absolute masterpiece, the best of every genre its a part of.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The original FTL is almost 14 years old, at the same time it never gets old. I enjoyed the original game for many hours, its core gameplay loop is fantastic and the game's difficulty (I play on normal or easy) is in the sweet spot to pose a challenge while it keeps the game being a fun and relaxing experience. And don't forget the music, it fits perfectly. My recommendation: Get the game, it's a blast! Nothing more to say here. That's it, as simple as that. No wait, there's one more thing. It's called "Multiverse". Technically you could call it a mod for FTL, but that wouldn't give the mod anywhere near enough credit. It is an incredible piece of work that extends the original game with an absolutely massive amount of additional content. Overwhelming in a positive way, guns galore! It adds tons of new player ships to unlock, an arsenal of new weapons, some of them quite special. It adds new races, new quests, new bosses, tons of secrets, options to further enhance your ship (and crew!) and much more. But it does not feel like someone tried to set a new world record by packing the most brain-dead features into a mod for the sake of quantity. They did it carefully with a lot of respect to the orginial mood of the game. It tastes the same as the original and integrates seamlessly into it. The writing, the jokes, the lore - everything is in the same spirit as the vanilla experience, just more and better. In every run there is stuff to unlock, paths too choose, opportunities and risks to take. Due to the heavily expanded content, the individual runs differ much more than before. As much as I loved the original, after getting used to the Multiverse mod, I would never switch back to vanilla. FTL with Multiverse is what I would call the best game I've ever played.
Could not fap. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here.
This game inspired me to write something amazing. That's how much I love it. Please play if you love sci-fi, blowing stuff up, and quirky alien friends.
I want to like the game, but i can't recomment it... For the amount of options avalible to you there is to much RNG.
I first got FTL around 2012 but didnt fully get into until 10 years later. I intially did not care for roguelike's. You die and have to restart the run. Combining this and how difficult it was really turned me off. Something pushed me to try this game again in 2022 and it just clicked. Learning how to fight enemy ships, what rooms to target and researching what weapons are good, it became very satisfying to play. From not being able to pass the 2nd sector to completing runs on hard difficulty. The challenge this game brings is equally matched with how rewarding it is to master. Aside from the strategy of FTL, it is also super comfy to immerse yourself in the galaxy. Commanding your crew in a variety of different ships traveling amoung the stars is super cozy. As simple as the visuals are for this game, the background of deep space and soundtrack brings it all together for me. This game can be very frustrating at times, but that is what also makes victory feel so good. Once you understand the mechanics it has so much replayability.
Good game! I would highly recommend playing through until you've unlocked most ships, then installing multiverse, as it is a fabulous addition to the base game.
I really enjoyed playing for the most part, right up until an event or RNG just completely destroyed my run with no hope of recovery. On the normal difficulty, I could barely make it far enough to make any progress. On the easiest difficulty, I can make it just far enough to become invested and then frustrated when something ends my run and it felt like there was nothing I could have done to prepare. I'll admit I'm not the best at games like these. So if you're more experienced, or if you grind until you get a run where luck is on your side, you'll have a great time. For me, each run felt like it had a fragility that was more unpleasant at times than exciting. I found myself wishing it wasn't a roguelike and that I had more time to build my ship up to its full potential. I've never played a game where I've wanted to save scum (but couldn't) more than this one. Don't be fooled by my complaints, though, as there are a lot of aspects of it that I think work really well. I like the variety in weapons, crew, and modifications and the various benefits/drawbacks they give. It makes for a different run every time and feels rewarding when you can get something particularly helpful. The bonus content is great and adds to the game in a subtle yet strong way. What it adds in difficulty it makes up for in versatility in your toolbox. The music is fantastic. There were no performance issues or bugs to speak of. There are a lot of points that feel incredibly satisfying, and ultimately it's those moments that are most memorable for me. I certainly prefer a game that's too difficult and leaves you feeling like you've learned how to improve (even if only little by little) over one that's too easy. While I think its unforgiving nature walks a fine line between challenging and demoralizing, the unexpected complexity and rewarding sense of discovery make it worth playing... and then playing again, because a solar flare set your O2 on fire while you were stuck in combat.
