About

Frostpunk 2 elevates the city-survival genre to a new level. Take the role of a Steward and lead your city through a cascade of calamities taking place in a postapocalyptic, snowy setting. Build large city districts with their string of endless needs and demands. Navigate through conflicting interests of factions that populate your metropolis. As the needs of the city grow and factional power at its core rises, only you can steer the society towards an uncertain future.

The world is overtaken by an ever present winter, which makes expansion of the city the only way for the survival of mankind. In order to grow, the metropolis needs resources like coal and oil, just like its citizens require food and warmth. In Frostpunk 2, it's your job to tackle this never ending circle of supply and demand.

The number of your citizens steadily grows, making the task of governing them and satisfying their demands all the more challenging. As the Steward you will have to maneuver carefully across the interests of many groups inhabiting the city.

People of your city want to have a voice in how you run things. Each faction has its own ideology and ideas for the future, yet they also have one thing in common - insatiable thirst for power. Choose your allies in the Council Hall wisely.

Make tough life-and-death decisions as you allocate heat across your city, supported by new research topics and heat-oriented laws. Choose districts that need the most warmth with the help of the Heat Management system with a detailed temperature overlay.

The story of Frostpunk 2 introduces a multi-chapter saga set in the frozen wastes. Spanning across the life of the Steward this campaign lets you feel the burden of leadership as you take the responsibility for thousands of lives. At the same time, the sandbox mode called Utopia Builder with infinite play time leaves you room for boundless social and infrastructural experiments.

Frostpunk 2 comes with a comprehensive and versatile modding tool. FrostKit will let you create your own maps, models, and scenarios inside the game. Now, only your imagination can limit the destination your city is heading to!

My hours played on this are going to skyrocket. This is a perfect example of taking a (semi)original idea and expanding it in meaningful ways in the sequel. Examples: - Coal is the only source of fuel in FP1, now you have Coal, Oil, and Steam in FP2 - Wood and Steel are the primary means of constructing buildings in FP1, now you have a nebulous 'Prefab' resource in FP2 - Wood and Steel were also the primary means of research in FP1, now you have 'Heatstamps' in FP2 - The aforementioned Heatstamps are in-game currency, used from constructing districts and buildings, funding research, exploring the Frostlands, and even used for political favor - This is a thinly-veiled political simulator wrapped in the cloak of an civilization simulator wrapped in the cloak of a city survival simulator, where as FP1 is a city survival only The list is expansive but you get the idea. Frostpunk 2 takes the ideas from FP1 and expands their scope for a unique challenge not found among other city builder games. That being said, the difficulty curve is a bit annoying because a lot of the interface is left for you to experiment without making it clear when something is wrong (example: I had a handful of districts with lowered efficiency and it took me way too long to realize the districts were not fully staffed with workers). Additionally, research was clear with its different levels in FP1 but FP2 research is a bit of an amalgam of technologies that either add potential laws, new buildings, or radical abilities. Regardless, FP2 is a great sequel that meaningfully builds on its predecessor and gives you a glimpse into what humanity might need to accomplish in order to survive. The city grows.
ok so its my second review on steam ever on all steam accoynts i ve had and i ve played a lot of games i tought this gonna be a boring game but damn bro the feelings this game gives you are insane, at some point i was even sorry for some decision that got burgees killed didnt even know why the rush when u are on the edge for a city builder its so much of a city builder more of a like economical management and i love it, love the politics wars like factions nah man this is in my top 3 games and i ve played lots of them love what you guys did i hope to see more things comming up or more games like this from you amazing much love
Perfect treat for the fans of 4X strategy games, city builders, and resource management fanatics. Some original Frostpunk 1 players found the new scale of the game in a negative/mixed perspective, due to the survival aspect and individual population control being replaced by the grand scheme of things. I, however, applaud the decision of the development team in this direction and find most of its new features fitting to what would be the future for the people who survived the Great Storm and their descendants. This is a good direction both for the lore and the gameplay, everything makes so much sense. Utopia mode is also an incredible addition to the game. I highly recommend.
