Your Personality plays the game! Help strange spirits solve their Unfinished Business... or leave them to Despair. In this highly-branching narrative adventure you'll only see about 1/3 of the full story in each playthrough, but the end is whenever you want it to be.

About
You'll never know when the game is watching your actions.
You'll never be judged in terms of Good or Evil.
You'll simply have to live with the consequences of your actions... Whether you intended them or not.

FREERIDE's story reacts to your Subconscious Personality, so each person's first 4-6 hour playthrough will be different.
In fact, you will only see ~1/3 of the full story in a loop, so playing again is recommended to experience to full narrative.
Life is always easier with experience, you know. *)
A Hint>> Each Act can be Solved in 4 ways.
Use the magic of the Gods to rearrange furniture.
Also other things.
Like Basketball!
And don't forget...
But no stress, there are no good or bad way to play the game.

For a game about making choices this game sure is set on confusing the player. I was not aware of any choices I was making until Act 3, I was just playing the game how I would normally and the game would compliment me on finding Lepida in Act 1, but being passive. I just broke into the building like any other game would expect you to. The story is convoluted to the point where I didn't like either of the two options at the end and just chose to leave. All the main characters have a weird attachment to the player that isn't set up except for Dakuiri and Kad, but once again I had no idea how to side with them and had to fight them. Most of the game was less of a choice and more of a test of if I knew what the game wanted out of me. Combat is another system that isn't presented to the player well. You're taught how to move a basketball around, but never shown that this is actually how to fight enemies. On top of that my first combat encounter was a boss where my weapons kept getting stuck on the wall where I couldn't reach them. So it was a sink or swim moment that might turn other players away. The game is a really ambitious second game from the developer and I'd be interested to see what they do in the future, but even as a game with multiple endings I don't feel like I want to play through this one again. With the ending I didn't think either choice was good and I just chose to leave instead. I didn't talk to many train passengers in the later Acts because I didn't have a reason to be invested in them. I tried out a few storylines in Act 1 and 2 and they were just fetch quests I could've gotten from nameless NPCs instead, and it didn't affect later dialogue. The game will also chastise you for doing something like telling an NPC1 to talk to NPC2 because you didn't talk to NPC2 yourself. *I* don't have prior history with NPC2, why should I talk to them? Also weird things continue to happen that go unaddressed. Like someone turning into a werewolf, how a hamster turned into a person, the
time loop (how did I end up back at the titlescreen for a new game?)
, and why your character turns into a furaffinity OC halfway through the story. I think that last one's supposed to be a twist.. but you can put the pieces together yourself pretty early in the story.
Controls are super finicky and given that its kind of a physics props based game it makes it hard to get into if they update it to make it easier and more intuitive to control it'd be a great game otherwise very wholesome.
detection of choices is average at it best so all of the personality component is kinda screwed. not recommended.
a really fun and really pretty game!! it can take some getting used to on certain mechanics (combat in this game is painful unless you just *get* it), but the art and design is killer, and the story itself is really interesting with actually good plot twists. plus the community for this game is amazing :)
Albion is so peak
i havent even finished the game yet but it has somehow, against all odds, given me more inspiration to make art for myself than ive ever gotten in YEARS. im the type who LOVES a good story and if you do too then PLAY THIS GAME, PLEAAASE!!! replayablity is consciously integrated in a way that encourages curiosity about what other choices you could have made, not to mentions the multitude of secrets and lore hidden around every corner. one run of the game isnt so long that you end up feeling dragged around, each character is charming and has just enough mystery to them that you feel compelled to find out as much as you can about them, and the CHARACTER DESIGNS ALONE CAN TELL YOU SO MUCH ABOUT THEM, BECAUSE IT PLAYS AN ACTIVE ROLE IN WHY EACH CHARACTER IS STILL IN THE SPIRIT WORLD. its games like FREERIDE that make me even more sure in my quest to pursue a career in the gaming industry. not to mention the discord server ehehe the community is smol but the energy is wild. (rip dakuiri's dignity it goes down the drain at least once a week with how much we make fun of him over there hahaha)
One of the only games i've been truly dedicated to completing. Even with a horrible attention span this game is able to grab your attention and make you want to seek more. I hope more storylines come out or even a sequel. I'd buy it a dozen times over. The characters are all bright and fun with a good touch of angst. The story is creative yet linear enough that as you repeat it you're able to learn more and more each time. there are so many secrets to discover and fun bits of hidden dialog. I have gotten so attached to the characters at this point that i hope plushies come out so i can keep them with me. (i think i might try to make a ana plush). Designs are stunning especially later in the game. I hope this studio continues to grow <3
I actually had a lot of fun with this game. The characters are interesting and multidimensional and every time I play a new loop I find something new. I wish there was more to this game because of how much I enjoyed it. I definitely recommend this game if you are looking for something to get lost in for a few hours.
