Fight your way across the celestial world of Avalice where cats are green, motorcycles drive up walls and monster girls do most of the buttkicking! Freedom Planet is a cartoony, combat-based platform adventure that pits a spunky dragonoid and her friends against an alien attack force.

Reviews
i mean it's pretty good, and the graphics are charming
Sonic-like with very nice graphics. The controls feel really smooth and fun to play.

Sonic-like? Will that one day be a genre like Metroidvania or Rogue-like? Regardless of whatever this is called, Freedom Planet is an incredibly solid example of how to make a Sonic-like. It captures both the sense of speed and visual spectacle of the early Sonic games, while also crafting levels built upon a precise platforming focus. While I would more easily recommend the second game above this one (fr Freedom Planet 2 is so good and so underrated please play it if you have not done so already), this first game still offers more than enough to love of its own merits.
I loved this game! A nice and challenging platformer with fun characters, Freedom Planet has very pretty visuals that look as if they could have come from a 2D Saturn or PlayStation game. The soundtrack is also really good! I found almost every boss tough to defeat at first but once I finally beat them it felt glorious! Admittedly, there were a few moments in the game that felt like they dragged on (a couple of bosses spring to mind), but those are few. If you like classic Sonic, give this game a go, and hopefully you'll have just as good a time saving Avalice as I.
what if sonic hedgehog was chinese
love this game :)
It's like Sonic, but way better. It's a lot of fun and has cool levels.
Okay, there is something i have to admit. I just DESPISE Sonic, as much as i try to get into the series, every time i pick up the controller, the platforming makes it feel like i'm trying to swim across the Bermuda Triangle. Everything is spazzing towards me and before i can even react to getting thrown around by a spring or accelerator pad i hit a wall and the entire momentum of the game stops. Rinse and Repeat. I guess i'm just not built for it, maybe i should go back to calling my megaman-EX... But i just HAD TO try. I had to see if someone who loved Sonic to hell and back could share that love with me. This is probably not a good 'Sonic' game for the real diehard fans.. BUT I HAD SO MUCH FUN. Freedom Planet is delicately made. I just can't put into words how well you flow through this game. And they did this while having 3 very distinct characters you could play that change the walkthrough of every stage drastically. BIG hats off to.. Everything else the game has to offer too, really. The sprite-art, the music, the story, it's all so stellar. Stage 3 in particular is the most lively and charming thing i've seen in a platformer so far! Now i still don't have 100% completion as i'm writing this review, as part of the achievements are reserved to speedrunning levels, which means i have to git gud at a Sonic game, but this time around i'm very much excited to climb that hurdle.
