This is like if you turned Inaturalist into a game. You just go around the island and find critters and clean up the place. There's a wholesome and heartwarming story through it, and even thought the game is a little naive, it still comes from a very good intention. Plus the art and music are both absolutely phenomenal. It's crazy that they stuffed so many places and so many critters into a tiny island, and it really feels like a real, lived in world, which is a big achievement. Super fun game that had me smiling the entire time.
This game is 3-4 hours in play, so I recommend a sale, for my own preference. However, it's a lovely 3-4 hour game with mellow and enjoyable exploration with a great sense of place. Regional bits of music, bird song everywhere you go. The area was very reminiscent of the coastal areas of Italy I visited, and the story and controls flowed simply and well. (Though I would love a teensy jump, just because.) I encourage going from day to day in order to unlock more ways to fix things up quickly. Also, as a heads up, this has an ongoing message of nature cleanup and nature stewardship.
Charming island town in danger!
Alba is a charming and well-rounded adventure game aimed primarily at younger players, while also teaching important lessons about animals, nature, and protecting the environment. The island setting is beautiful and full of personality, with plenty of lovable animals and memorable characters to meet along the way. The gameplay is fairly linear and straightforward, making it easy to relax and simply enjoy exploring the world. The story and dialogue are both surprisingly well written and help give the game a cozy, heartfelt atmosphere. Overall, it’s a wonderful experience for kids, but even as an adult I genuinely enjoyed spending time in its world. The developers did a fantastic job, and I’d love to see them tackle even larger projects in the future. Charming game that's short and fun. Given the price though, get it on sale. Pros: - Lot of fun - Great music - Fun, charming story and characters Cons: - When you are prompted to nod or shake your head, there's occasionally a bug that prevents you from doing it. A bit of button mashing and/or waiting gets passed it though. - Not having any sort of info or 'neat facts' about the animals you picture seems like a missed opportunity. - A bit expensive for less than 4 hours of playtime. Verdict: 9/10
A cute game about protecting wildlife, has a nice message and a really beautiful art style, but I do feel like it's a bit too slow at times especially with the lack of a sprint button which even if it was not that fast I would've appreciated. It does get more entertaining as it progresses once you have access to more tools and I did enjoy myself.
This game is short but sweet. I did everything you could in the game in just under 6 hours of leisurely play, and it doesn't really have any replay value. However, it was very relaxing, delightful, and wholesome in the extreme. It shows the importance of nature and community, without ever being preachy. It is a lovely game, and comes well recommended.
A cute, short and relaxing game
Alba is a relaxing, cozy game about exploring a Mediterranean island and helping local wildlife. Instead of action or difficult challenges, it focuses on simple activities like photographing animals, cleaning up and supporting conservation efforts. The colorful visuals and calm atmosphere make the experience enjoyable, while its message about caring for nature feels sincere and uplifting. Although the gameplay can feel repetitive, its warmth and simplicity make it memorable.
