Taimumari: Definitive Edition is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. There's an anime girl theme and a couple of minigames, but basically the crux of the game is precision platforming with double jumps and wall jumping. The control handling is reasonable enough, with smooth and responsive controls, so at least they got one thing mostly right. The rest, however, is a failure. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. PC gamers will be insulted by the demand from the developer that a console peasant children's toy controller should be used, despite this being on PC. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're developing for, and must never, under any circumstances dictate to gamers how their games are to be experienced. This looks a lot like it was designed for consoles, but released on Steam instead by mistake. While this is on PC, it has all the hallmarks and deficiencies of a console game, from the clunkier than needed control scheme to the less than cutting edge graphics. There's 10's of thousands of PC games on Steam, and PC gamers deserve only the best. This might not appeal to many gamers due to the lack of PC-centric design. It's unclear why this never made it to the video game console appliances it seems to have been designed for. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the GameMaker Studio construction kit/toolset. This is a very poor quality toolset favoured by amateur developers as it's cheap and requires little in the way of development skill, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. GameMaker Studio is most commonly used to make retro pixel shovelware and cash grabs. A strong argument can be made that construction kits like GameMaker Studio should never be used to make games for profit, as the "developer", TERNOX has done here. These construction kits are intended to teach people some of the basic principles of game development, and to make small demos to pass around with friends. They're not intended to replace to actual work of real, professional game developers. So it's inappropriate when amateurs try to use these for profit, without any actual, real game development effort taking place. This doesn't result in products that have any real meaningful value for gamers. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Taimumari: Definitive Edition didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for killing a butterfly, trivial to get, but less than 14 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. Hardly a success story, gamers just weren't all that interested in the game. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, and isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show less than 14 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who didn't bother engaging with this game? Trading cards. People will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with little merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? Taimumari: Definitive Edition has the almost unethical price of around $8 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. For comparison, the $8 asking price for this game could get you games like "Ark: Survival Evolved", "Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel" or "Payday 2". No pixelcrap is worth $8. If developers want to get paid the same kind of money as real game developers who know how to do graphics properly, they need to learn how to do graphics properly.
Simple action platformer. Spam attack button to finish some pixel slimes and other monsters. Game feels basic with no much reason to play, some kids might like it though. Platforming is average so don't expect anything outstatnding here. Controls are ok. Music is a bit retro like. To be honest pick something better and skip this one.
If it werent for the bugs and glitches i wouldnt be so harsh, But the frequency where you die without getting hit way to high. You can get stuck in moving platforms (forcing a level restart), dissapearing bosses (2 times also forcing a level restart) and items that just do not get drawn by the game (witch hapenes at least once per level). The game itself is mid at best MegaMan clone, can get a little frustrating, but is not teribble or someting an certanly not as hard as the MegaMan series. I still would not reccomend it, even without the bugs, uninteressting dialogue, same texture for spikes that sometimes instakill you sometimes dont, really lazy stages in the later part of the game. Bad and frustrating level design in general containing the usual traps that for sure will kill you the first time around, wierd boss patterns that you have to memorise because nothing is telegraphed propperly at all. The movement itself is janky, anything related to moving platforms, imagine a platform moving up and down and every time you stand on it and its moving down the player is hopping around leaving you only a view frames every hop to jump, yeah its this sort of janck. I really do not want to be mean, its a little dev but the game simply isnt fun, bugs aside its passable, but thats it. If your are serching for a Mega Man clone and the bugs do not bother you as much, you can grab it on sale. But you're probbably better of getting other games like Mighty Gunvolt, Mighty Gunvolt Burst or UDONGEIN X (which is superb by the way and costs less than that).
It's very nice! I also love the music this game sure has! :D
rage quit attıran oyunlara bayılıyorum <3 2. oyunu bir an önce çıkar umarım
This is a Mega Man styled platformer where you have several bosses to choose from before reaching a big gauntlet stage at the end. Overall I found that the gameplay was solid. It wasn't anything crazy. The game tries to give you different attack types and a few abilities you can use on stages. I found that a lot of the attack types weren't particularly useful besides a few. From the abilities you unlock, I found that one ability specifically wasn't very useful, but the rest were okay. The art is okay. This is a very PC looking game, if you understand what I mean. Simple and somewhat under detailed art. Some of the music tracks are actually quite nice. The character portraits were okay, but nothing that I think stands out in any way. The game is buggy and this is probably my biggest gripe. The hitboxes for some things are very unfair and I wasn't fond when I took damage or died, because of the game behaving incorrectly. There's a stage with these moving spike platforms and you can get stuck in them quite easily too, leading to your death. And a confusing bug, but the game will refuse to launch after the first time and the way you fix this is by launching the classic edition of the game, closing the game and then launching the definitive edition. The stages themselves do try to vary things with game mechanics. Since the game is short, I never found that the stages were overstating their welcome. There were a few frustrating parts, especially at the end. But it wasn't enough to put me off from finishing the game. Overall I think this game is okay. It's not amazing by any means. But since finishing the game shouldn't take you longer than 2 to 3 hours, I think it might be worth a playthrough if you're getting the game during a sale.
