CAUTION: THIS GAME IS HARD AND FULL OF JUMP SCARES!
OPERATION FOSSILFUEL
Deep under the Great Sitkin Island in Alaska, you find yourself in the heart of one of the greatest scientific research facilities on Earth! Genetic researchers have bred mutant dinosaurs! But things go bad when the base is invaded by shadowy special forces, looking to steal the dino DNA. You grab your guns and your ammo and prepare for a fight...
At its core, Fossilfuel is a survival horror game. The player is trapped in a massive underground facility, Sierra, located in a remote location in Alaska. The player must use their head to find clues and solve puzzles to escape the facility.
The game features several massive maps that the player can play in any way they want. Their decisions will decide the ending of the game. Once the player escapes the depths of Sierra, they are faced with the sprawling landscape that is, the Great Sitkin Island. The main story campaign will be a solid length of around 6 to 10 hours of gameplay depending on your skill level.
Experience a massive arsenal of weapons as you plow through a huge library of enemies. The game features a wide range of weapons that are not just traditional firearms, your standard FPS arsenal of Shotguns and rifles, but also weapons of science fiction! Weapons that can warp physics and crush your enemies' bones in seconds! The game runs on the power of the Unreal Engine, enabling crazy particle effects and physics as well as difficult enemy squad AI that tries to flank the player and calls for reinforcements as the situation dynamically calls for it. Enemy dinosaurs will use all their sense to track the player as well. A Velociraptor on the other side of the base is there...hunting you...always coming.
The game enemies also span into our Homosapien brothers. The enemy soldiers will call for reinforcements, radio ahead to comrades on the other side of the map to prep for the player, talk to each other, provide covering fire, flank manoeuvers, can spot dead comrades, watch and listen for the player to make sounds, and even spot the player clicking on their flashlight. These guys are tough but the player can cut them down with fun weapons like the black hole gun!
The Dinosaur AI is likewise very aggressive. Velociraptors have incredible eyesight and can hear every move you make. They tend to travel in pairs and love to perform flanking maneuvers as well. Raptors, however, are not the only baddies you will encounter. But you will have to play to find out!

A fun survival horror game. Good gameplay and a storyline. If you like survival horror and jurassic park vibes, definitely buy it. The only negative thing is you can't get all secret weapons, I searched in the game, eventually online, but I can't find the code for one secret weapon. A bit frustrating but otherwise a fun to play game. *Sounds 8/10 *Gameplay 8.5/10 *Graphics 7.5/10 *Old school horror vibes 7.5/10
It's a good game, but not a great game. Has some lag issues throughout. Also stopped giving me achievements partway for some reason, so completionists be mindful of this. If you're looking for a true stealth game like Alien Isolation, this is NOT it. I beat the entire game in one sitting, and I pretty much just gave it the guns blazing approach. Slightly more spoiler-y notes: If you're having trouble with the first encounter (as many people seem to):
Get the fire axe. Don't fight the raptor when you first see it. Sneak away and let its scripted feast continue until it starts roaming the facility in pursuit of you. When it comes at you just axe it. There's no point trying to stealth, it is going to find you no matter what, for some reason.
Other notes,
-Dinosaurs are increasingly less relevant as the game goes on, which was a major bummer for me. -Made minimal use of health items, as getting hit by any dinosaur was often just a death sentence anyway. -While it does seem like you could go for a stealth approach after the first encounter if you wanted, the NPCs are quite stupid, the axe is powerful, and ammo is plentiful.
For my fellow Linux users, I played through using: Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon Proton 8.0-5
The game is janky but I expected that going into it. After fighting through a few bugs and glitches, I started to make some sense of it all. By the end, I managed to beat the game on hard and unlock a few decent achievements. I was mostly just curious about the game and if it offered anything special. I did like some of the weapons and there are a good amount of them too. At some parts the graphics were not too bad. During the factory part my computer started running hard and hot. It's not a polished game by any means but at least it's playable all the way through. Not too bad just don't expect much but $20 is pretty funny.
It wasn't a bad game. I felt like it leaned more towards Turok as it was more action based towards the middle and end of the game. The sound track was good and I detected the famous 'Wilhelm' scream, which made me laugh. It had a great variety of dinosaurs and weapons. As far as I can tell, there are two endings. I may revisit the game at a later time to try to get the other ending. I did notice that in my second stream, the achievements seemed to stop working after the Boa fight as I didn't get anything after that fight. The game is also kind of short, I managed to beat it in under 3 hours, with most of that being me dying over and over again trying to figure things out.
Love this game for its scary style and dinosaurs but boy can it be really Funny by accident really enjoyed it streamed 1 & 2 recently and going to stream ff3 demo looking Forward to it Keep making Dino shooters
I purchased FossilFuel for $7.99 while it was on sale. I played the 2nd game first of this series, because it happened to catch my attention, and so I went back to play the first one. Fossilfuel is a game where you'll find yourself on a random research facility called Sierra. You get into the story and learn that the dinos contained in this research facility break out and you're forced to fight, survive, and escape. While it is a short game, it was a blast and fun to play. The story of the game is pretty straightforward and does leave some room for questions, but works well. I will say my play through did glitch out and for some reason I just stopped being awarded achievements and stuff, but was able to still play and complete the game, which was annoying but its okay. Love this game and this series. If you want the best experience for the least amount of money I just recommend buying the 2nd Fossilfuel game and playing that one through to see if you enjoy it, because it is basically a better version of the first one with better graphics, performance, and flow, as well as different dinos and a different story, after that then play this one. 9/10 recommend this game!
Interesting little game, it has very good jump scares, lots of weapons, too many weapons for my taste and many of the achievements are bugged. If you die too often or reload too often you just can't get any more achievements but still a good game
it fun
Shorter than I would like but still fun. The T-Rex fight at the end needed some work as it is SO SLOW
