Refunding. AI Human grabs you through walls when trying to hide from him when you first encounter the dog outside the window. i tried for 10-20 minutes to do that part and gave up and alt f4'd uninstalled and refunded Maybe il check it out some time down the line
I really wanted to enjoy this game as I had seen many people play it, however, I cannot recommend this game. At the very start I was excited to get a taste for myself and began the journey of Chapter 1. I was very quickly grabbing hold of the mechanics as they're fairly easy to understand and follow, especially when going against the owner as you can use your sense to see where he was heading and just follow suit behind him at a safe distance until he leaves. I continued to bark for points and just ended the Chapter when I had enough of doing the same thing over and over again. At the clearance screen, I saw the score as well as the points I received for each stat gained, hoping it did a lot or I got something for it. As the chapters progressed on Chapter 2, I encountered my first bug of the game that I would have hoped would fix itself, until I had to restart the entire second chapter every time I died, as the respawn point bugged the Neighbor's Dog (Enemy dog I will call it from here on out as it will stay the same dog through the 'story'). Once I finally got passed, after finding the strategy to hide in the bedroom on the left side, ensuring I took care of hallucinations as quickly as possible before hiding within the room, I then farmed some points, and completed the Chapter. I won't be going over every chapter as it's the same thing over and over with some differences here and there as even the 'lose control' mechanic barely came into play, nor was a major threat what-so-ever. The main gameplay loop of farming points to get some slight stat increases almost felt pointless as I had felt no different then I did the first chapter, especially towards the end as you can use your sense to sprint then sprint again once you run out of your Senses bar. The only time I got a single perk was towards the end when I died and got the 'Failed' ending. There is suppose to be multiple endings, one of which I assume is tied to getting all of the treats in every mission and possibly how many points you get. The only issue is, the game doesn't give me enough reasoning for another play-through as after spending 3 hours doing the same mechanic with little reward besides some stat increases and possible other perks I haven't seen yet, I see no reason to go through it again, because it doesn't hold my attention enough nor give incentive for me to replay it- there is no replay value; the points are not enough. There is a story to the game through the radios in the house, however, it doesn't impact the game in the slightest besides when there is a shooting in the neighborhood. If there were more lore bits that were to assume the owner was apart of it, I honestly didn't notice personally. To be perfectly honest, all the Youtuber achievements, albeit cute, I would have preferred them not to be in there and saved for the credits as this game is trying to express a serious message about animal abuse. If this game had it's old pricing of $20.00USD, I would ask for you to wait for a sale as the amount of content within the game is not of value of time within it. The current price the game is at now is $9.99USD which is more of a fair price as there is not enough substance within the game for it being worth the old price of $20.00USD. There is not enough content in the game to have it be placed at $9.99USD, personally, it should be $5.00USD or $4.99USD. - Now to speak more upfront about the animal abuse section that the game is meant to be about. Besides the dog starving to death and being neglected, it doesn't show enough of the horrible reality of such situations that the game depicts. It's very unrealistic that the neighbor's dog jumps over the fence to kill you as such situations don't really happen enough nor is that really so much animal abuse and more so unlucky. Just to state, I don't condone animal abuse, I just think the game doesn't depict the reality and harshness of it.
So... Dont get me wrong, I like the message of the game, I do, but when the game, that costs 20 Euro, has boring gameplay, incoherent mechanics, poor AI, bugs, and RNG? It makes for a soup that makes it sour, very sour, if I could refund it I would, but I have played too much for it to be refundable... and I couldn't even finish the game! It completely wasted my time, I wish I could recommend it... but right now? No, just no... Let's explore some things that happened to me while I played, shall we? It all started fine, I was smart with the gameplay and was able to hide well, it didn't feel unfair... then the halusinations happened, they teleport and can get to you in the most horrible of times, aka, when the owner is RIGHT NEXT TO YOU and you get a gameover for it, it's just RNG at this point here and horrible at that... The dev talks about wanting to make the resets fast? But the wake up animation is slow af, I was getting pissed off at how slow the dog would wake up, the part of the game where there wore people shooting outside and everthing went red with hallusinations and the owner? It was the last straw, you need to go outside to trigger the game to go back to the chasing, it would take precious seconds, or minutes because I didn't know wtf to do there the first times, and every time you would die because RNG, I was in a great hiding place, but if the owner was near me and I saw the halusinations come towards me.. it pissed me off... It's a cool premise, but hell if it isn't just LUCK. Now... about the ending, I had to go see one of them from a playthough, why? because I COULDN'T finish it... I arrived at the neighbourhood, I started running.... and running... and running... and running.... the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing is BIG too big and too aimless... then the game told me to find food... okay, sounds easy, there are a bunch of squirrels I can eat, no... trashcans, but oh, where in this HUGE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HUGE neighbourhood is a trashcan or bag? Just in one small place, I spent Minutes what felt like hours looking in a whole ass neighbourhood which are supposed to have a trashcan for every house I'm pretty sure only to fine only lonely trashbag... it was BORING so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boring, not intense at all since the german shepperd was easy to deal with, just run far enough and it will teleport away, Good game design eh? I thought the game would then guide me somewhere... to end finally the thing... it told me to investigate the noise which was a party... but nothing... I barked and long barked.... NOTHING, I tried running around again, especially since the damn german shepperd wanted by doggy ass and nothing... Only seeing the german shepperd.... TELEPORTING BEHIND ME, like really? I thought I was gonna fear being in the game, I thought It would make me cry, but instead? Instead it made me frustrated.... I had a part of the game BUG OUT, the german shepperd was supposed to come into the backyard but it didn't! I barked and it instakilled me, I got the owner STUCK while I was in the bathroom part, the pathing of the AI is terrible and gameplay, while fun in the beguinning, it got frustrating, I would try to turn off the sensing to bark but it wouldn't register my imputs, and why... WHY IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, can you only sense when the meter is full again? Understandable if it runs out and has to recharge, but if I use it for only a second but notice I actually needed it still? Nope, tough luck, gotta wait for it to recharge! .... To anyone thinking of buying this game... I dont know why it has so many good reviews since this was a horrible experience, not because it was hard! But because it was UNFAIR and BORING, I love dogs, I adore the message... but when the game actively wants you to hate it... how can you not? I suggest you look at gameplay first... I should have done that, Instead I wanted to go in blind... and now I am short 20 euro, which this game DOESN'T DESERVE, there are better games that are free or cost less... I am sorry, it must have taken alot of time to develop this, but people, go play Stray, or any other game other than this one... I feel bad saying this, especially since it was made by one guy... but truly, I dont recommend it at this much money, with the things I faced on my playthough. Thank you for reading, and have a good day people Edit: What Viski there said is very true... I tried playing again and I wandered the WHOLE neighbourhood now for 2 hours.... 2 HOURS I was going insane, I took every courve, I started to recognize everything and the game DIDN'T PROGRESS I have alot of patience but this... I might try restarting it but... if the game doesn't play well and punishes you actively for trying to do what you think you are supposed to do... seriously, people, dont get this, and developer please fix your game or at least lower the price because at this price it is ridiculous how you can charge for a game that doesn't feel finished, there are better games out there which you have to pay LESS for, good horror game example? Amnesia the dark descent, it's more scary with an awesome story, I am still horrified with the game, and guess what? In that game you HIDE AS WELL, look at that, the dev can take some notes form this game, who knew. I will eddit the review and add this to say on it, I still wish I had gotten my refund... SIDENOTE: If your comunity didnt find your third ending you keep saying on about, IT'S NOT SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF, means your game isn't replayable enough or the mechanics are SOOO BAD that players cant find everything in it, think about this next time you try to shame some on the reviews, I read most of the comments and wish I had read all before buying the game...
The game was actually very boring and repetitive, unless you want to bark at cats and hide from your owner for a solid 3 minutes don't play this game
At first I was very negative to some of the game play and how difficult it was at times, but I needed to see the game for what it was. Something completely different and it actually gave me a dog's point of view, especially how the dog saw and heard the owner. I think that if any dog were as terrified as this one it would see anyone in this form. The game may have its bug's, but it added something different. I'm excited to see more game from the developer.
Frustrating, repetitive and buggy. Don't waste your money
Game is really well done being made with only 1 person. I think this game has real potential if the small bugs were fixed here and there. My only complaint is the owner is a little too sensitive for my taste😂. But it was fun nonetheless. All in all, if you want a good horror free-range game, this is it people! 🔥
Perfect game if you want to ruin your entire existence. -69/10 would not play again XD
fun, but please add some sort of guide, cant even find this via a google search... unable to get past the fireworks
Played this game earlier when it came out because I thought this idea was beyond perfect and beautiful. I think it's honestly a very powerful experience that is kinda hindered by some of the gameplay. I admittedly am not great at games, but it felt very punishing learning how to sneak around and not in a way I wanted to get to the end. I enjoy the story and experience, but the gameplay I wasn't really feeling sadly.
