Very fun Arcade Shoot Them Up game from Orange_Juice. Using the game main mechanic which is "Rocket" that is capable to take out multiple enemies while also increase score multiplier and that score multiplier also increase the amount of rocket charge and score that can be obtained by collecting gold coin upon defeat an enemy. There are quite amount of depths for how you utilize the rocket mechanic. For an example, you can use rocket blast radius to defend yourself from an enemy attack which can be essential during overwhelming moment. Once you understand how rocket works, it will become the main fun factor that make this game very satisfy to play. I let you discover the rest of rocket mechanic by yourself. The gameplay is like traditional shoot them up which is doing optimal routing and speed kill enemy and boss as optimal as possible. The difficulty is very reasonable for easy, medium, and hard. Meaning that everyone with different experience can enjoy this game. The soundtrack is surprisingly great. Very enjoyable to listen as a background soundtrack while you are doing other stuff on your PC. If there are things to point out is that the game is quite short and not complex like other shoot them up which in a way i do find this to be a good thing because i think this game concept is simple and well realized with in its own concept that has been executed very well and not necessary need to be more complicate than what the game has already been accomplish from the vision that Orange_Juice want the game to be in the first place. Overall, i would say that this game is very good. (and i would personally say that this game is great.) Extremely Recommend.
Marc is a pretty sexy aviator... ;)
Sherry = 0/10 Otherwise, peak OJ shmup.
Gahhh, I thought this game would be a nice and easy introduction to the genre but NOPE. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I still recommend it but not to casual scrubs like me. It lured me in with its storybook artstyle and different story routes and kicked me in the nards with its difficulty.
A great bullet hell by the same people who made 100% Orange Juice. Its much harder than their other bullet hells, but the gameplay is very fun. The artwork is unique as well, and has a cool style to it. The multiple routes you can take also increase replayability.
This games music and theme is adorable and epic. The theme of a little biplane dropping down everything while everyone chats and taunts is a good style. The game will punish you for one small mistake but simple to get into and great overall.
We're up! Red barrel
I don't know what it is about this game compared to any other OJ game, but I absolutely love this one. It's a fun game that is really easy to just boot up when I'm bored and play for an hour or two. It is definitely a challenging game, but when you understand the mechanics, it's fun to try and master it!
This game reminds me in a sense of Psyviriar in that if the player doesnt play for score and /or doesn't know the mechanisms the game uses to chase score then the game will just appear bland and boring. The game, if you like chasing score, is brilliant , addictive fun. Asd others have said the game doesn't show a new player how the mechanisms work so watch a playthru on YT if you're interested.
Flying Red Barrel is a unique shmup that is both amazing and severly crippled. ***The Good*** - Cute art style - Good music - Neat setting and sounds - Cool bosses ***The Bad*** - The scoring system is obscure. They don't tell you too much about it. - The controls feel weird. The slow is almost too slow while the fast is lightning fast. - You can't shoot while moving fast without mashing fire, instead of holding it. So, that means to fire you have to keep mashing fire while moving. -Because of this, it plays better with a controller. However, that means the accuracy of using a controller D-pad instead of precise keyboard controls. This results in a lot of deaths and makes the game way harder than it should be. - The difficulty is tuned a little harshly. It feels like everything is tuned one rank more difficult than it should be. - Difficulty modes seem to mainly make enemies bullet sponges, which drags down the gameplay. ***The Preferential*** - The bomb system is not that of the traditional screen clear variety. It's just a superpowered shot. So, it's easy to get trapped in certain death situations, even with a full complement of bombs. ***OVERALL*** IS it a fun shmup? Absolutely. It's unique and fun to look at. However, if you have any other shmups you want to play, go play those first.
