As a Deaf player who relies on visual clarity, this game hits instantly — clean cues, readable action, and zero audio‑dependence. Gigantes Ex Machina feels like Vampire Survivors fused with a Gundam simulator in the best way possible. Fast movement, flashy attacks, and a satisfying upgrade loop make every run feel alive. Even in Early Access, the visual design carries the whole experience without needing sound, and the pacing already feels tight. If the devs keep expanding enemy variety and meta progression, this could become a top‑tier mech roguelite. Loving the direction so far.
I barely got to play 30 minutes before I had to go to work but this scratches that Gundum esq itch I've always had that no Gundam game has every quite hit. Zipping around the battlefield with my minigun and MLRS like I'm Heavy Arms is a dream come true. This game absolutely nailed it and I can't wait to get off work to play more.
The gameplay and graphic is great. Hoping to have more stuff as the game go on
As of now I've just finished all the content up to the Protocol update. In the sense that I've completed all missions, gotten all current unlocks bar the stat increase meta progression, but why do that now when you've already completed all the content. However, I'll note that I haven't yet redone all missions in all mechs, of which there are 3 currently. They are different enough that's it's worth doing it. Firstly, I would like to talk about the new Protocol system, which I think is an interesting way of approaching the usual pollution of choices in such games beyond a ban system or reroll. There are several categories of gear, like primary, secondary, abilities and passives, and in each category, you can assign 4 different protocols, either all to one piece of gear, or to different ones. These things are like start with that piece of gear, always include that gear in your level up choices, auto level up where it auto level up as you level up as long as you currently have that gear equipped, and I guess double level up on first selection, i.e. the more boring one. You can combine them too, though note that some of them like auto level up, means you probably shouldn't combine them with things like double level up, since that's just a waste and would result you in getting less stuff in the long run. What this means is that even before a run, you can already start having a build as there would be at least several pieces of equipment you will be guaranteed to have. It does mean though that you'll be spiking your power pretty early, smoothing out the early game, but that depends on how much you like the RNG and gambling of the early game, I don't, so this is a pure positive. There are currently 3 mechs. The typical light, medium, heavy. You start with the medium, then you need to do a side mission, i.e. beat the mech to unlock the light and heavy ones. Note however that primary weapons for the most part aren't universal, each mech has their own weapon selection. The flamer is universal though, but that might change as they add more mechs. Haven't actually tried the heavy mech yet, the light was just too fun to play that I used it to clear everything else after unlocking it. Heavy does have dual weilding though. While medium has gun and shield, but the shield is a manual use "weapon". Light just has one gun, and a scope that I do not know the purpose of, you can see further in a direction when you click it? Maybe for snipers or something, but I don't see the point when you're gonna get swarmed in these kinds of games anyway. Maybe a good player can snipe the boss with the railgun's charge mode or something. Also speaking of meta progression, note that currently the boring stat gains are the only thing non-refundable. Everything else in the other section of meta progression, like unlocking weapons, banning an equipment from each category, using the Protocol system, all these need meta currency, but they aren't consumed and can be refunded, so you can just try stuff out. That's pretty good especially for weapons, as you can't test them out, so buying them to test them out, and then refunding if it sucks, is the only way. Also note that hard and very hard versions of the missions, while they have the same map, though with different/more enemies, they do actually have different stories, some of them are slight addendums, some of them have different new lore, and some of them even show you the other side. Like the water mission, the hard version despite being basically the same, explains all the weird stuff you see at the end. Some of them do have actual new bosses though, so it isn't just the stuff on normal, but with more stats. Well, some of the bosses are variants instead of brand new ones. Though speaking of bosses, I don't think I've seen the one from the demo yet. Mechs themselves also have customization, and your weapons too. To tune them towards your playstyle. And oh yeah, unlocking the customization here is another thing that is non-refundable, though the currency for that is super abundant if you complete a bunch of the missions. Some fun stuff, like regenerating armor. Which matters because there is a HP heal ability, but the only armor heal ability is a heal on kill ability, and it needs 10 kills... It's not bad, but when fighting bosses, you may not always have that luxury. Oh yeah, it has armor and HP. Armor good because it provides DR. Though... the game could really use a glossary or something, some of the stuff is too opaque. Like you can figure what it probably does from the name, but like whether it's actually suitable for your playstyle? Who knows. Keeping in mind that I bought it on the summer sale, I'll say it's 100% worth the price for the current level of content. Unless you hate stories that just cut off abruptly, because that part is still a WIP. But well, how many play these for the story anyway, it is simple but decent though. And before I forget, if you like mechs, that play like mechs and not like a sphere with a mech skin, this one is good, it has the good stuff like turn rate, and apparently acceleration going by one of the passives, though in the chaos of battle that one is harder to notice.
