This game is every bit as good as the last developer's game Cannibal Abduction, bigger in every aspect but a bit more puzzle orientated and loose around the edges. Instead of having a cannibal follow you around a house, you have a crazy cultist in a Goat Mask chase you around a huge mansion full of secrets. This game took me 2.5 hours to finish, I was stuck for a while trying to figure out what to do in certain parts. Playing with a controller really helps as opposed to playing with the keyboard. + Fun retro game aesthetic of movies from the 1970s / 1980s era + The mansion is well designed and fun to explore, lots of secrets to find and hidden passageways + Many puzzles to solve, some are original and interesting + The stealth sections are balanced and fair. You can run away from the enemy quite easily if you don't make a silly mistake + Running from the enemy is very fun and tense unlike most stealth games + The mansion getting darker as the game goes on was an interesting mechanic, and finding the lamp + The ending was surprising and a bit of a twist + The sound effects of the enemy walking around on headphones was well done, I could figure out where he was just by listening. - There should be more endings. Highly missed opportunity to do a second different ending if you collect all the evidence on your camera. Also I think the camera should have been used more in general. - I was stuck for about 30 mins trying to figure out what to do at one point, read your notes! and check back on your friend that is chained up... - The VHS aesthetic can be a bit too intrusive and hard on the eyes at some points after playing for over an hour. Looking forward to the developer's next game, they keep getting bigger and more ambitious. Overall 9/ 10
I’ve played the developer’s previous titles (Night of the Scissors and Cannibal Abduction) and went into The Fear Business with some expectations. I felt Cannibal Abduction was a genuine improvement over their first release, but this one didn’t really move things forward in the same way. If anything, it felt like a step back. The main issue for me was the antagonist, “Goat Face.” He often appears without clear audio cues, which makes his presence feel more frustrating than tense, and once he’s on you, he takes a long time to shake off. Combined with some very aggressive VHS effects, these encounters crossed the line from atmospheric into outright annoying. That said, I still respect what the devs are doing with these short-form VHS horror experiences. They’ve nailed the style and atmosphere, but I’d really like to see them take more time with their next project, something longer, with deeper survival horror elements and more developed mechanics. They’ve proven they can deliver on mood, now it’s about evolving beyond the comfort zone. Verdict: Neutral. Worth a look if you enjoy the VHS horror niche, but I’d consider this the weaker entry compared to the dev’s earlier work.
Well worth the sacrifice.
Another certified banger from this dev, really enjoyed Cannibal Abduction + Night of The Scissors and I think this one is even better. Super tense and nail biting on the edge type of game, cool retro vibes and likeable Protag. Story is meh but it fits the gameplay well enough, decent puzzles. Supports UW and I didn't experience any bugs or technical issues ect. Sound design is immersive, was always listening intently for those foot steps. Kinda hard to see during chase I have the same issue with Puppet Combo games, i get it's a design choice I just find it hard on the eyes im old. I liked how it gets darker every time you save that's a neat idea. I love found footage films so I was pleasantly surprised by those elements, recording evidence is simple but adds to the immersion. It's short and has a little replayability with the higher difficulties being unlocked but is prob a one and done for most. Looking forward to next one! 8.1/10

this game is so good but so flawed firsly i wanna say that this game had a cheap quality to it idk how to explain it, probably due to the game being longer and being set in a larger location meaning that any issues i had with the previous two titles werent as notable due to the games being far shorter it played like the devs other games but its much longer (at least for me jt was) my issue comes with how challenging the late game becomes due to the cultist chasing u so far until u either die, or he loses sight of u i understand that the game has items to help u locate the cultist such as a sensor that beeps each time he steps on it but i found it redundant. i also hated the save system instead of having save items like vhs tapes that u can keep track of ink ribbon style u instead have candles that only let u save at them once per candle… unless u have an item that lets u relight them but i only found like 1 or 2 my entire playthrough meaning late game i was struggling not to waste saves. as for what i enjoyed… everything i loved the story of trying to get a scoop but being trapped with the people ur tryna document. the gameplay is the standard run, hide, solve puzzles, sometimes fight, survive. however it does it well, puzzles were at times challenging but overall manageable the cultists wete scary due to the lack of saves in the game inwas genuinely scared everytime one popped up i also like the progression of the game where u unlock more rooms as u go creating new passageways and shortcuts would 100000% reccomend
WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY !!!!
