I seriously don't get the hate this game gets from the FF fandom. Is the story told in the cleanest way possible? Absolutely not. You can practically see where development hell took a few swings at it. But if you actually let yourself get invested instead of spending the entire playthrough looking for plot holes to post about online, there's a genuinely great story here. The best part isn't even saving the world. It's four guys going on what starts as the world's most expensive road trip and somehow becoming one of my favorite RPG parties ever. The random conversations, camping, terrible driving, fishing (why did I spend so much time fishing?), and Prompto filling my hard drive with 8,000 blurry photos somehow made the world feel more alive than a lot of games that are twice the size. Then the game remembers it's a Final Fantasy and emotionally dropkicks you. The soundtrack is incredible, the characters are ridiculously likable, and by the end I cared way more than I expected to. That's the part I think a lot of people miss. This game's biggest strength isn't its pacing or its open world—it's making you actually give a damn about the people you're traveling with. Is it perfect? Nope. Did I have an absolute blast anyway? Yep. Would I willingly spend another 80 hours listening to Ignis announce he's discovered a new recipe while pushing a broken-down car with the boys? Without a second thought.
I played this when it first came out on PS4, and decided to play it again years later. it really didn't dissapoint, i'm having the best time ever. Exploring is top tier to me, and characters are well developped if you want to focus on the lore
Great game and i've finished it before, but the game would be soooo insane if instead of just running in the desert, you have a motor bike and ride around the open world, this and better side quests and this game would be the best game of all time mate!
