friendly headsup for nividia gpu owners, turn off shaders in the nvidia control panel, otherwise your saves wont load definitley say the game is worth it, first final fantasy i played as a kid back 2 decades ago, nostalgia for the win!

very underated
Among the best of the franchise. gambit system is 300% chefs kiss, this version has all the content released for the game, along with the japanese version stuff. if square could stop eating glue and do the same to their other remasters and remakes, there would be world peace.
Fantastic story. Probably my favorite FF story of all so far. The remaster helps a lot with the outdated graphics, and the cutscenes are well done. The action and general gameplay are pretty outdated, but the turbo option helps with this. Honestly, the story carries one through these segments as well. FFX basically killed my interest in FF for a while as the series started leaning into the "porcelain-doll-like-beauty" design of the characters. This entry is super-heavy with this, to the point of nearly being "yaoi manga" level. They also introduce an entire race of "playboy bunnies..." smh... still, the story carries one through these odd design choices as well.
I did get the infamous awful crashing and white screen runtime issue. Game worked fine until i got about 4 hours in. Then started the issues. Took an hour to figure out. Try disabling your shader cache before trying any other fixes. Doing this is the only thing that ended up mattering for me and I tried everything before hand. Disabling vsync also reduced tearing which started after the fix. Im using an nvidia rtx 4050 btw. Couldnt say for sure regarding any other hardware. Also the game kept making 2gb dmp files every time it crashed. Had to get rid of that. Pointless to keep all that after crashing 30 times. Great game so far. I'm enjoying it very much. Vaan is pretty annoying but the other characters are great. Very interesting. Battles are very different than the usual turn based stuff but more engaging than I imagined. Graphics are decent, considering its a very old game. My only complaint is everyone looks like they got a tan while wearing goggles. I guess the highlights, around the eyes, in the textures work from a distance but during close-ups it looks awful and distracting. Not a deal breaker though. Story is the usual Final Fantasy stuff so if youre a fan you will like it. If you don't like political story lines you might find it boring. Ivalice is such a great setting. I adore all the variety in characters. The environments are really nice considering the games age. The music is wonderful as well. Good luck!

Grandioses Spiel, liebe die Welt Ivalice so sehr. So verschieden und abwechslungsreich. Läuft sehr gut auf dem Steam Deck
