Featuring fully voiced dialogue, beautifully enhanced graphics, and countless gameplay improvements, the genre-defining tactical RPG makes its long-awaited return.

Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
Same day: best CA #52, worst AU #95 · 3 markets collected
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 3.67/day in the week to Aug 5 → 5.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

Ivalice—a kingdom blessed by the light of the gods and ruled by the Two-headed Lion. A year after her defeat to Ordallia in the Fifty Years' War, the king succumbed to malady, leaving a mere boy of two to ascend the throne.
Whoever was named regent would rule in truth, and thus emerged two rival candidates: dukes Goltanna and Larg, whose deeds during the war had earned them great renown. Goltanna the Black Lion and Larg the White Lion were destined to clash, and the resulting conflict would come to be known as the War of the Lions.
Against this backdrop appear Ramza, third son of House Beoulve, one of Ivalice's leading military families, and his childhood companion Delita, a commoner raised amongst nobles. As they endeavor to chart a course through this tumultuous age, a mighty current draws them ever closer to the abyss.

Lead your party in exhilarating encounters where strategic positioning and forward planning determine the outcome. Use the varied terrain of 3D battlefields to your advantage, skillfully manipulate the turn order, and victory will be yours for the taking.

Combine a wide variety of jobs and abilities to craft your very own strategies.
As your party members grow, they will gain access to more jobs, each with its own unique abilities. Once learned, abilities can be used even after changing to another job. With over 20 jobs to master—including white mage, black mage, dragoon, and many others from the FINAL FANTASY series—and hundreds of abilities to learn, you have the freedom to experiment and discover the combinations that best suit your party. Chocobos and other creatures can also be tamed and led into battle.

With improved graphics, fully voiced dialogue, and refined gameplay, the enhanced version provides the perfect way to immerse yourself in the world of Ivalice. Along with the fine-tuning of several features and battle mechanics, the inclusion of the more accessible "Squire" difficulty setting makes the enhanced version an excellent starting point for first-time players.
The classic version unites the graphics and gameplay of the original 1997 version with the renowned War of the Lions translation for a unique way to experience this beloved title.
The Enhanced version of the game supports a wide variety of controller options.
It also supports keyboard and mouse controls.
The Classic version of the game only supports XInput controllers.
Keyboard controls are also supported, but mouse controls are not supported.
Add-ons
Each DLC is estimated with the same model as a game, then summed — a modeled figure, not reported DLC sales.

***IMPORTANT*** GAME HAS DRM. IF YOU TRY TO PLAY IT OFFLINE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO. YOU MUST START WITH INTERNET FIRST! This is really sad. I had a positive review but after trying to play and finding out I need WiFi for the initial start up because of the DRM, it will not start. This game should never have had DRM. I would love to give a positive review again but honestly can’t unless this terrible feature is removed. Do better…
Insane amounts of dialogue speaking old english like a shakespearean play that nobody wants to see/hear. Reloading because enemies have "gear break" moves that shatter permanently your hard earned loot is not fun. Forced to pick classes that are broken to win, some specs are total duds. Annnndd boss fights start with turn 1 AoE team wipes ....also not cool.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 20: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

The Good: - Great voice acting for a game that I presume did not have any in 1997. - Dialogue is solid, proper medieval fantasy with knaves and curs. - Old school tile and turn based combat. The Bad: - It's a slog. The fights DRAG for 20-45 minutes at a time when there are only a dozen units on the field. - The guest characters are brain dead. By the time you get to the Sand Rat level their tactics boil down to suicide charges into the two entrance points of the enemies little fort and plugging the gap with their corpses. Incredible design, glad my tactics game comes with mandatory allies that hamper tactics. - In the harder difficulty the enemies are a good bit tougher than you, so you have to go grind out some levels in the generic fights. The enemies in those generic fights? Initially they will obliterate you and should you persevere, see the initial point about the fights dragging on. If you have a childhood fondness for this game, adore tactics games, or prefer playing in the easy or normal difficulties, then you will probably enjoy this.
What's sauce for the goose, is sauce for the gander.
While it is the original gameplay recipe, the graphics look like someone smeared Vaseline all over the screen and then added a grain filter for no reason. Either that or someone brand new to Photoshop discovered the "Smoothing" tool and decided to smudge everything into oblivion. It just does not look good at all with whatever they did to it. Outside of battle it looks fine but no one plays a game to look at it outside of the battles - battles are the heart of the game. The true best version of this game is War of the Lions on PSP Emulator with the speed mod fix to crank it up to 120 FPS instead of the 30 FPS laggy mess whenever you cast spells.
