Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
Same day: best CA #52, worst AU #95 · 3 markets collected
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 3.67/day in the week to Aug 5 → 5.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

Ivalice—a kingdom blessed by the light of the gods and ruled by the Two-headed Lion. A year after her defeat to Ordallia in the Fifty Years' War, the king succumbed to malady, leaving a mere boy of two to ascend the throne.
Whoever was named regent would rule in truth, and thus emerged two rival candidates: dukes Goltanna and Larg, whose deeds during the war had earned them great renown. Goltanna the Black Lion and Larg the White Lion were destined to clash, and the resulting conflict would come to be known as the War of the Lions.
Against this backdrop appear Ramza, third son of House Beoulve, one of Ivalice's leading military families, and his childhood companion Delita, a commoner raised amongst nobles. As they endeavor to chart a course through this tumultuous age, a mighty current draws them ever closer to the abyss.

Lead your party in exhilarating encounters where strategic positioning and forward planning determine the outcome. Use the varied terrain of 3D battlefields to your advantage, skillfully manipulate the turn order, and victory will be yours for the taking.

Combine a wide variety of jobs and abilities to craft your very own strategies.
As your party members grow, they will gain access to more jobs, each with its own unique abilities. Once learned, abilities can be used even after changing to another job. With over 20 jobs to master—including white mage, black mage, dragoon, and many others from the FINAL FANTASY series—and hundreds of abilities to learn, you have the freedom to experiment and discover the combinations that best suit your party. Chocobos and other creatures can also be tamed and led into battle.

With improved graphics, fully voiced dialogue, and refined gameplay, the enhanced version provides the perfect way to immerse yourself in the world of Ivalice. Along with the fine-tuning of several features and battle mechanics, the inclusion of the more accessible "Squire" difficulty setting makes the enhanced version an excellent starting point for first-time players.
The classic version unites the graphics and gameplay of the original 1997 version with the renowned War of the Lions translation for a unique way to experience this beloved title.
The Enhanced version of the game supports a wide variety of controller options.
It also supports keyboard and mouse controls.
The Classic version of the game only supports XInput controllers.
Keyboard controls are also supported, but mouse controls are not supported.

To this day I love the aesthetics of FFT even more than Matsuno's other classics, and it is the game that's once and for all made Hitoshi Sakimoto my absolute favourite video game composer. 28 years after I first played the game, the Cuchulainn fight is one of my fondest gaming memories. I think that the latter half of the story is a bit jumbled, Ovelia's role in the ending is not easy to parse, and the difficulty curve swings from almost unwinnable to unlosable in the blink of an eye (which is typical of Matsuno's game design), but all this reckless open-endedness in game design and storytelling alike only serves to make the experience all the more memorable and unique. I love FFT. This flashy port, though, is worse than it should have been. + The little sound novels have finally been translated and added to the Western release of the game for the first time. Finally! + The trashy PSP bonus content has been expunged. Thank Ajora. That stuff was extremely low quality, dragging the whole experience down. + The new user interface really is quite alright. ~ The English script is the overwritten PSP one. It's far from good. I'd even take l i t t l e m o n e y over it, but there should have been a full retranslation. ~ Voice acting is alright. Some characters are better than others, e.g. I really like Alma's ever-pouty English performance. ~ The upscaled graphics are passable at best. - Additions to the script are often too long and intrusive. Remember how characters used to talk mid-battle and it was fantastic? Now they do it even more! And more and more... and more... and more and more and more... and more and more still. Oh god, Agrias, I get it already, please stop, you're talking in circles, you've already said your piece last turn, now you sound like a Final Fantasy XIII character, Agrias, please, no. Even dead characters pop up to soliloquy. - The additional hard difficulty cracks on "protect the guest" missions and duels. Ok, I can plan around Wiegraf taking two turns in a row, dealing 170 damage every time. But it is much less fun to work around an extremely aggressive Rafa acting first and running into a 260-damage Ultima over 195 max HP. I know, I know, a naked White Mage solves the issue (doesn't it always?), but look. I've been beating Riovanes since 1997 without Auto-Potion and low-HP decoys and now I had to resort to this unexciting nonsense for the first time in decades to get through the fight. Meh. - Why the heck was the soundtrack not orchestrated?

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 20: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

No War of the Lions content,
I purchased this having remember playing the game in early 2000s on my GameBoy Advance. So i bought it to only find out it is controller only, no mouse or keyboard setup. Can not play, it is totally useless to me, could not play and i dont want or desire a controller. Will not buy from Steam again until they include key/mouse in the description
This is one of my all-time favorite games. I played it on PS2 (PS1 disk version), I played it on PS Vita (Downloaded PSP version.), and now I finally had the chance to replay it yet again with the modern remaster. So much was done right, no lag, enhanced graphics, remastered soundtrack, amazing voice acting, reload during combat, skip combat, force combat, zodiac chart, improved poaching, and new game +. The things I miss are the job select wheel, instead it's a grid that looks a lot like the character roster. Annnd, the War of the Lions characters, jobs, and items. I understand that the team wanted to release the original version of Tactics, but I'm praying for a War of the Lions DLC pack later. I'd be willing to pay up to $40 to just get that content back into the game. Additionally, I think it would be great if they took it a step further by adding even more content as DLC, characters, quests, items, monsters, maps, jobs... A great number of people I know would love Gaffgarion to be playable. I can imagine a side quest where you go back in time and convice him to join your cause. That would be awesome...not canon of course, just DLC. Oh, they would have to expand the roster from 50 to 100 as well.
The title has really aged. For today standards it is a very poor tactics with moderately engaging story that doesn't "hit" as well as general FFs despite having more mature themes, it's not Xenogears. Buy for the culture on very deep discount.
If you are buying just for nostalgia's sake, just wait for sale. Cutting content from the PSP version of War of the Lions and doubling the price compared to a mobile app port just doesnt make sense. New voice acting or monster calls is not THAT spectacular to the point it greatly enhances the gameplay experience.
I’m starting to worry the writer thought storytelling was an RPG selection menu.
The gameplay was pretty fun - but I tend to play Final Fantasy titles for the plot as well. Here, the plot is limited to approximately three story progression possibilities: at every major event, someone is either kidnapped, betrayed, or gets teleported away. And literally that's it...resulting in a story that often feels like it is cycling through a small set of preset narrative devices rather than building organically from its world or characters. In 1997, this may have been enough to stand out. And I acknowledge that. However, by modern standards it does not really hold up. I have a feeling that the praise this game receives is in large part due to childhood nostalgia. FFT also leans heavily into lore dumping at the onset. Dozens of noble houses, factions, and names are introduced before the player has any emotional anchors to them. Only towards the end of the game, when you grow more attached to the characters, (not by merit of the story, but due to the natural bond that comes from EXP grinding your party) does the game somewhat make up for this... This structure might have worked better with more tonal variety. Even serious stories benefit from moments of levity or comic relief - but The Ivalice Chronicles takes itself too seriously and becomes a little preachy with peasant and court politics...Almost like a PG-13 Game of Thrones with characters lacking depth. Only after the final battle could I somewhat appreciate the journey's end. But unlike the best J/RPGs, I did not appreciate the journey itself...
This game was pretty disappointing, especially for $50. I was a huge fan of the grid-based shining force games, and so I thought I would love this. Pros: Incredible story and voice acting. Charming graphics. Cons: QOL: This has to be some of the worst QOL I have ever seen, especially for a game remade so recently, and one as famous as this. Literally just moving and attacking every single turn is a chore. Items can be destroyed by common mobs, so you consistently have to travel to each town trying to figure out which one sells that item you need to replace. And don't even get me started on the abysmal loot collection process or the bravery/faith stats. The whole game is just extremely overcomplicated. About 4 hours in, I realized this wasn't going to be a fun experience, so I just turned the difficulty down to the lowest setting to try and just finish it faster. Even then, I ran into some fights that nearly killed some of my people, and it just got too annoying to keep bothering with it.
Alguns jogos são divertidos. Outros envelhecem.
***IMPORTANT*** GAME HAS DRM. IF YOU TRY TO PLAY IT OFFLINE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO. YOU MUST START WITH INTERNET FIRST! This is really sad. I had a positive review but after trying to play and finding out I need WiFi for the initial start up because of the DRM, it will not start. This game should never have had DRM. I would love to give a positive review again but honestly can’t unless this terrible feature is removed. Do better…
