Reviews
4/10 with another statement for neutral review button. I´d like to thank Ubi-slop for making massmurder of bad people fun and engaging, also for giving me what I call FarCry-brain. I played 3,Primal,5 and New Dawn...not in that perticular order. By the time of the wrinting of this review, I am empty inside and I question my sanity. You know the trope: have you played one Ubisoft game, you have played them all. Now, I realise even my review itself to my fith Far Cry game is reduced to same formula as I again complain about the same flaws in every FarCry game. The loop is definately fun: Explosions, pew pew pew, massmurder of people with different attire and annoying wildlife, earning money and gaining exp for said massmurder and other slop activities. Until this loop fries your brain and you just want to rush through the map to conquer that outpost, to reveal that last location and that last collectable or register that you picked up that note for that 100% ingame progression. Everything is so detached from a coherend game that you almost forgot there is neither good story, good worldbuilding nor good chracters in this game. To be fair, Ubisoft loves to smuggle some good bits or meta into it, but everything is hidden behind notes and letters , some people wont even care to find or read after hours and hours of that infamous loop. Only in my last cutscene, there was a bit of genius, but the loop destroyed this too. Even you as a character are detached from everything. You got apprehended by the villain, you flee and meet the "Good Guys" on your way out, now you fight for them. But the avarage gamer will say, yeah they throw you in the action right from the start. But just that you won´t have the time to question, why you as the main character should fight for the Golden Path. Oh yeah, they are the opressed. But I detest my allies and their motivations more than that main villain, because both have this one trait of their future plans, which makes their paths unbearable. It should make your decitions difficult and meaningful, but at the end, I wanted to kill them both, because at no point they would compromise. Maybe, its another small bit of genius Ubislop´s meta ideas? And than thres is the villain himself, whom you see twice in the game and just know, were once engaged with your mother, has more depth then the two. But hey..he´s awesome because he has the same voice as the magnificent Troy Baker. Some goes actually for Sabal und Amita too. As in every FarCry game main quests are locked behind your overall progression. Repetition until your next main quest maker appear and then you have already forgotten, what you did in the previous quest, besides murdering hundreds of soldiers, annoying wildlife and the occational Guerilla, who run infront of your car, while you rush to the next waypoint. You engage in secondary villains, you haven´t even heart the names of before, only that one of them, were with you at the table in the prolog or was present in a cutscene for 2 seconds. You don´t know why they are evil until you are told they are and or read two sentences about them, but its up to you to "decide their fates". Side aktivities are again repetitive, boring and often insulting. (For example you engage in fetch quests for supplies for your allies
only to realise it was all a ruse from another faction. Yeah, nobody of the Golden Path notices someone they don´t knowis sending you out via radio.
And don´t get me started on that radio DJ. who is obsessed with your butt and how you wipe. Yes! In a game in an indian inspired fictional country, where everyone talks like Apu from The Simpsons. But no Far Cry game is complete with a sidequest about literal sh*t. Oh, and Hurk is also there.) Yees, yeesss! I finished it anyway, because I have Far Cry brain. Hopefully, my future wife will be thankfull for my willingness for doing repetetive tasks from a list. If you enjoyed it, good for you. That´s maybe all what´s important. I enjoyed it too.. until it became stale and i realised, i played everything before... in FarCry 3, Primal, 5 and New Dawn. So i rushed to write this review, nobody would read. Oh, the meta here. Btw. On my first playthrough I waited for Pegan Min 15 minutes at the diner table. It has the Best ending (right before my second Ending) and sums this game up very good.
Thousends of deaths, chaosand destruction would be avoided, and the Antagonist and I would part happy and in peace. Oh yeah, once again, we shall have peace!!!! That meta.
Gameplay feels like a homework, guns feels like shooting with an imaginary rifle, takedown as consistent as ubisoft's quality control, story about as deep as a spilled tequilla, characters just as likable as benjamin netanyahu, protagonist about as blank as a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ isekai insert power fantasy anime with little to no dialogue, moves like an absolute drama queen shaking and flailing his arms around like a final destination victim.
한참 재미나게 하고 있어요
33 hours later and I can confidently say the real villains of Far Cry 4 aren't the enemies... they're the eagles. I survived armies, explosions, and questionable life choices, but one angry bird still had me fighting for my life. The story is genuinely one of the best in the Far Cry series, and Ajay somehow goes from "just visiting" to solving literally everyone's problems. Playing solo is the best way to enjoy the story—take it slow, be sneaky, and you'll have a blast. Or ignore all that, grab a friend in co-op, go full "guns blazing," and accidentally depopulate an entire city. 10/10. Came for the story, stayed because an eagle refused to let me know peace.
