About
Be the hero in your own cinematic epic of action, tension and terror. A mysterious paramilitary force infiltrates a multi-billion dollar aerospace compound, taking hostages but issuing no demands. The government responds by sending in a Special Forces team only to have them obliterated. Live footage of the massacre shows an inexplicable wave of destruction tearing the soldiers apart. With no other recourse, the elite F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault Recon) team is assembled to deal with the extraordinary circumstances. They are given one simple mission: Evaluate the threat and eliminate the intruders at any cost.
Extraction Point kicks off where the original game ended – with a bang. As the helicopter which the F.E.A.R. team is on attempts to leave the vicinity, it instead winds up crashing. The F.E.A.R. team is thus forced to seek out an alternate extraction point, all the way battling the now free Alma and her paranormal minions across a destroyed city.
As the first F.E.A.R. team and Delta Force fight for control of the situation, a second F.E.A.R. team is sent in to shed some light on Armacham Technology Corporation's (ATC) dark past. As a member of a secondary F.E.A.R. team, you are brought in to discover more information regarding the secret project at the ATC facilities. The multiplayer component for this expansion is no longer available.

thanks trepang2 for telling me about this
Atmosphere and gameplay are too similar to Half-Life. Since there are no hard puzzles and boss fights, I could enjoy the interesting and immersive story. Expansions were goodenough too.

13 on sale2 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 2 “not sold” markets are read from the Steam price pass of Sep 7: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price in those. The 13 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

F.E.A.R. is one of those games that instantly takes me back to a better time. It’s been over 20 years, and it still feels phenomenal to play. What.s even more impressive is how well it runs on modern hardware, perfectly smooth, with native ultrawide support, which is incredible for a game of its age. It really shows just how well made it is and why it stands out as one of the best PC games of its era. I still remember launching it for the first time on my old setup a Celeron 2.8 GHz, 256 MB of DDR1 RAM, and an FX 5200 128 MB, barely scraping 20 FPS on low settings at very low resolution. To this day, I'm still amazed by the quality of its physics, textures, and especially the lighting. Small details like dynamic shadows from muzzle flashes, and even a simple camera flash casting shadows, add so much to the atmosphere. It's those touches that make F.E.A.R. feel ahead of its time, even now.
game doesn't even launch. just a black screen for a couple minutes and then an error. spent over a half hour trying different community fixes and nothing works. idk why it's so hard to make a game that actually runs
'' You will be god among man''
To think we used this game as benchmark for our PCs back then... First of all, running this game in 2026 is not that difficult, just use echopatch and deactivate vsync and you should be ready to go. The game looks great even today. But, look, I'm gonna say it completely straight: The gameplay is straight up fire, but offers so little in terms of variation and movement it'll get stale sooner rather than later. This wouldn't be a problem if the game was shorter or the levels had more variation, but you only run through offices, backoffices, and really bland areas in general. Granted, this condensed level design actually helps the AI to behave correctly, but at the cost of having not so memorable places to fight in. Also speaking about movement, your only means to move around is with a light jog, which in all honesty, it makes me laugh because if you use bullet time, the enemies have to see you light jogging around the place while their bullets miss you. But I find it kind of odd how enemies can roll, jump through windows, crawl on the floor and have a somewhat healthy assortment of moves to navigate the levels but you're stuck with a light jog. But I think the biggest waste of potential here, are the scary moments. Because it is just that, scary moments. You don't get to fight monsters or something more out there. More sooner than later you're going to realize you're perfectly safe ESPECIALLY in the scary moments because no new enemies appear there, and the regular mobs won't interfere with the narrative, so... All in all, I like this game regardless of its faults because the gameplay loop and weapons feel great, but I still have my gripes with it. Buy the complete package in a sale, it is not the best game, but playing at least once in hard difficulty is enjoyable enough.
It's one of the quintessential shooters of the early 2000s. It's another classic. It's fun. FEAR is better than Half-Life 2. Uh oh, am I not allowed to say this here? Anyway, while I know that this game gets a lot of gamer praise and it has a rather high percentage of positive user reviews, it's rather underrated in the shadow of some of these overrated FPSs of the same era. Doom 3, Half-Life 2, Call of Duty, and some others received way more attention. And, not rightfully so necessarily. Honestly I think this is superior to those other titles, and many other popular shooters from the early 00s as well. There's an interesting juxtaposition with FEAR and other mainstream shooters, many of which seem overrated after all of these years. I had forgotten about how neat this was. It's also aged rather well compared to some other titles. I don't know exactly which game was the first to utilize what, but it seems like this was more sophisticated than some of its contemporaries. This is an even more solid shooter than I remembered. I don't really care for the plot & related stuff in some ways but I don't mind it either, the thing with Alma (the creepy little girl) is neat. The voice acting is great also. As many others suggest, make sure to install the echopatch. It was somewhat of a necessity for me, it's also there to correct performance issues -- it's weird but it happens with old games sometimes. Regardless, it's great to have the modernized quality of life enhancements. Some official remasters of other games have less features.
