About
Exogate Initiative is a management/base-building game that’ll take you from a humble rec room to the edge of creation. In the near future, a new technology allows us to travel instantly to anywhere in the universe via portals known as Exogates. An international initiative is created to develop these portals and explore the worlds beyond.
As head of the initiative, you’ll lead mankind into the vast unknown, where we never dreamed to tread.

Plan, excavate and build a sprawling underground research facility.
Dig anywhere on the map & add new rooms and specialised equipment as the initiative grows in scope.
Make a home away from home! You will need to provide for your team's emotional and physical needs.
Defend your base from hostile aliens and study them to unlock new weapons

Recruit, train and manage specialists from all around the universe.
Recruit explorers, known as ‘Gaters’ (humans or aliens), to explore and study the universe. Gaters are fully autonomous and come with a unique background.
Unlock new classes as you play. You’ll need scientists to study flora and fauna, scholars to decipher, soldiers to keep everyone safe and more.
Care for your team as they face the unknown. Ensure they have the right equipment, as well as food, shelter and emotional support.
Team members will develop relationships with each other and will mourn when someone dies.

Assemble a team of experts and send them across the universe through the Exogate.
Resist, defeat and negotiate with other factions thanks to a dedicated 4X gameplay.
Gaters perform missions autonomously but will check in with you for crucial decisions. Interact with our explorers, make life-to-death decisions and discover endless possible outcomes
Make contact with alien life, and write reports about your discovery to secure financing.
Teams will return with samples that can be developed into valuable new technology. Earn money for your investors and help the initiative grow.

East to pick up, harder to put it down. The writing has good humour with lots of little stories told through gate exploration, in place of an of over-arching main story.
Vielen lieben Dank! Ich habe dieses Spiel gerne gespielt und muss sagen - als Fan des Film Stargate war es mir ein vergnügen. Normalerweise habe ich immer ein paar Verbesserungsvorschläge, aber das hier... super!
I found out about this game around 2-3 years ago from a youtuber called SplatterCatGaming. Honestly this is not the type of game I usually play so I waited for a sale before eventually buying it, After putting in around 13 hours I can honestly say that this game has me hooked! It starts off relatively slow (which I like) but eventually it picks up and there is a lot more to do and pay attention to. Everything going on at once may be a little intimidating at first but once you get used to the mechanics and start to understand how everything works it becomes a lot easier and enjoyable to play. Again, this is not the kind of game I usually play, so it was probably more overwhelming for someone like me than it is for someone who plays Kenshi, Rimworld, etc. But overall I'm really enjoying it so far, and I plan to sink many more hours into it.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

tl;dr: not perfect but ~22h fun for a fair price Well, I am huge fan of all Stargate series and films. Nice: I like the story writing and the decisions in the mission dialogs have a lot of RPG feeling. May at one point in Time we get some AI generate Scenes of the events ;). Okay features: Lot of mechanics - base building, combat, attack, diplomacy, research, credits fundings, ... This game does a lot and sadly most "decision" are not giving you the impression that you are "in control" E. g. Manage fundings and patent research which is driven by the random monthly bonuses while you can not really control which samples you have or stockpile.... Or finding artifacts.... and so on Annoying: Round based combat in dialog vs. other clients
I suspected this game would be problematic for me when the opening sentence from the devs told me that they appreciate how much their customers enjoy figuring things out on their own, so they won't bore me with a long tutorial... what a crock of S#*t. As a result of "finding things out on my own" I've had to restart the game three times because I wasn't provided with much needed information. Now, after investing a decent amount of time, I may need to restart yet again because the devs know that I love "figuring things out on my own."
Sympathique.
It's a cool concept that's unfortunately not executed all that well. It was probably fun for maybe the first 2 hours or so where I hadn't really figured out the game mechanics yet, but after about 10 hours it started to get pretty tedious. The game is never really all that hard, even once combat begins in earnest. There's no difficult choices. Where you might normally consider the tech tree to be a source of difficult choice, instead the game puts tech tree choice on rails by having the committee spell out what you should do next. Power allocation ends up being the closest thing in the game to an actual source of choices matter and it's just tedious. Money grows on trees apparently, so you just need to build as much power as you possibly can stuff into your base. Team composition requires two brain cells to figure out. I don't know, there just wasn't enough to hold my interest.
Exogate Initiative is a game that while very limited in base visual design and character customization, offers a very interesting and surprisingly addictive exploration cycle that has you going out and uncharting new worlds to mine, research and to expand your influence across the wider galaxy, all while making sure you don't get overrun by hostile species via the management of peace, war, alliances and trade. It's all in all a decent little game, and one I hope the developers expand upon in a future DLC or even better, sequel.
I like the game, but the management UI could definitely be better. Managing teams is a hassle in the mid-late game. There is no easy way to track how many exosuits, exoskeletons, body armor or other pieces of equipment you have. Assigning them to gaters can be time consuming.
