About
SpaceSlog is a challenging and unique spaceship and colony simulator that focuses on shipbuilding, crew interaction, exploration and survival. Inspired by games such as Rimworld, Starship Theory, Dwarf Fortress and X-COM, as well as iconic media such as Firefly, Stargate Universe and The Expanse.
Your colony ship is destroyed, and with it humanity's final hope is lost to the dark, cold void. But somewhere, deep within the slog, drifts a barely functioning life pod. Alone, hungry, and lost in space, you command a motley crew of ragged survivors and must guide them through a time that has come to be known as the SpaceSlog era.
Explore. Trade. Battle. Survive. Thrive!
Build your ship any way you choose.
A new generated galaxy every time you play.
Meet other factions, friend or foe.
Manage your crews moods and needs.
Trade with passing ships and factions.
Electrical power simulation. Build cables, generators and batteries, or even solar panels to harvest energy from stars.
Atmospheric simulation. Place down gas generators, gas scrubbers, air tanks, ducting and air vents to carry gas around your ship. Wear the correct equipment when venturing outside of your ship.
Temperature simulation. Place down heat extractors and find other ways to keep your ship cool, especially when close to stars.
Lighting simulations. Ensure your crew have enough light. Stars will give off light in the darkness of space.
Develop your own story every time you play.
Combat and defence against alien creatures.
Deep health and anatomy modelling.
Breeding and farming. Collect eggs from hens or harvest plants from growing stations.
Extensive data driven Mod support.
Plus more…
This is a rough list of planned features though nothing is guaranteed and more may be added.
Ship to ship combat including ship boarding.
A huge galaxy to explore.
Visit planets with different atmospheres, factions and other anomalies.
Explore derelict ships and stations.
Research.
A living universe where faction interactions or player consequences matter.
Various types of crafting.
Animals - pets and husbandry.
A full immersive economic system.
Plus many other improvements across the board.
Whether you want to build a small but nimble ship with a small crew, or a large battleship with lots of crew, the choice is yours. Just ensure you have enough supplies to manage your crew and keep your ship functioning.
Careful consideration must be used when placing doors, power or atmospheric systems in case of breaches or other hazards.
Each time you play, the game's incident system will generate a different galaxy for you to explore. Whichever difficulty you choose will influence how this galaxy or incidents are generated.
Stay in one place for too long or get stranded and your crew will surely die. You must keep moving and find other ships or factions to trade with in order to survive.
The needs of your crew must be met in order to keep your ship fully functioning. An angry crew may rebel, decide not to work or give up completely. Ensure you have enough food and water to feed your crew. You must also choose your captain wisely.
Gear up and fight different species of aliens in melee or ranged combat. Cut off their limbs and allow them to bleed out so you can harvest their meat for food and skin for furniture. Build a medbay to heal your own sick and injured crew.
All the game's data is stored in JSON files. This means it is extremely easy to change anything currently in the game and even add new ones. In the future we plan to expand on this even further.
The author of SpaceSlog has spent over 10 years painstakingly developing a large and popular free modification for Mount&Blade Warband called A World of Ice and Fire. This is the reason for wanting extensive mod support and should hopefully give peace of mind for anyone wanting to purchase SpaceSlog, knowing the author is dedicated and willing to finish a project.

I'd say this is closer to a tech demo than even an early access game. There is almost nothing in the game right now besides the bones, which look like they've been pulled directly from RimWorld. I think there is a chance that this could be a game that's a fun alternative to RimWorld down the line, but that line looks to be a year or more long at least. If you like RimWorld, I'd suggest keeping an eye on this and checking back in a year or so to see what kind of state the game is in, but I can't recommend buying a game based on future potential. So, for now, a pass in its current state.
Very disappointing in it's current state. A bitter reminder that Rimworld was an absolute gem and better in every way. No research, hardly anything happens, silly enemies are near impossible to beat, no way to make fuel other than waiting hours for some ship that might pass by that is willing to trade some. Read the discussion page before buying. I should have. Extremely overpriced, there are far better proper finished games out there for a lot less that are fun.
Seems quite fun at first, like Rimworld in space. But the beginning is quite a bit of a struggle (even on easy), which can ruin it a bit, it becomes so frustrating when you spend an hour on your ship to then run out of power cells, and you just become stranded. I would recommend this game as it looks like it has great potential, but I think I will leave the game for now and pick it up after some more updates.
Good idea, but at the moment, the game takes too long to even get anywhere. Mechanics on how to do things are not very well explained, and ther is no real progression that I have seen (such as research). There needs to be a bit more time for this game to cook, as in the state it is in, the pricetag is too high for what it is... Which is a minimum viable product, with minimum content.
Didn't realise this was so early in it's development, if I had I wouldn't have bought it yet. What's there has potential but there's a LOT missing - more missing than you normally see in an EA game. I thought I just needed to do some random encounters or something to unlock tech, etc, but as far as I can tell, you've got everything you're going to get right at the start... I'll check it again in a few months - hopefully the dev sticks around and builds on what they've got. TLDR: Definitely can't recommend it in it's current state - came into EA too early.
The soundtrack is cool... (I made the soundtrack, I'm just supporting, sue me)
Ok, First thing first I will say that it is in need of more content. With that said, the developer has shown that he is actively been adding to the game every few weeks give or take with updates. Also he responds very quickly with issues and answers his player base. This holds weight with me. I believe that this will be a great game in time. I have no issue with buying the game with the understanding that the game developer is working on it and he needs to take care of his expanses as well. If you have the money to spend and are willing to take the risk, I would recommend the game. If you want to wait and see nothing wrong with being cautious. Hope this helps.
I really tried to like this one since it's right up my alley, but in its current state it's only barely playable. Even then it's only with some very generous save scumming to navigate the RNG events.
3 hours on steam, 10 hours on ITCH.io. Game is a solid foundation right now Produno is working hard at implementing new things into the game and fixing any of the bugs we run across. Tip for those who start off the game without watching anyone. Dont immediately build your generator if you are running solo. Get some resources then proceed and grab a few solar panels :D. Can't wait for the new stuff to come Produno <3
Ugly Rimworld clone with buggy tutorials and UI. Whomever dev'd this has no originality, and he does so many awkward things. Like you choose your starter traits? And because you're frugal, or maybe wasteful, this determines your starter resources... but wait, you're supposed to be on a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ escape pod?! The hell kind of sense does that make?? Tutorial says 'open the menu by clicking the button or F#' - okay, I use the keyboard shortcut. Nothing happens. Have to click, but the menu's already open, so have to re-click since the click closed it.. Want to cancel your orders using the cancel button? (no keyboard shortcut btw) ♥♥♥♥ you. Weird awkward glowing cursors shining through and obscuring UI elements because UI needed opacity for some reason? Too many art/UI assets duplicated from Rimworld, like the pawn art, and the targeting icon art, and health packs etc. You can listen to him in his weird streamer vid he posted along with the other stuff - making a game like 'uhm I dunno, just wanted to make y'know, your standard colony sim I guess? and sum space stuff too." Shamelessly unoriginal. Really is a slog.
