I like this game very much and have to give it a 'Thumbs Up' mainly 'cause I love weird games! However, personally I wouldn't pay full price for this game.
Just... not fun
by far one of the best HOGs i have ever played! this game requires a huge amount of riddle solving and not all are easy. pros VERY DIFFICULT! very long gameplay time around six and half hours. good voice acting decent graphics nice story cons too many text riddles for my taste music not running throughout all the game? no hi resolution option very very bad ending....not rewarding at all :( i highly recommend this game for all HOG fans and hardcore thinkers :P i give this game 8/10 +1 for the cards 9/10
Tags: Adventure - WC - Hidden Object Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Walk clicker manor with halloween decorations everywhere. Thin to absent plot. Minigames of shoddy execution. Sometimes stuck with unhelpful hint. This is mostly just an inventory puzzle game. The fact that items can be observed and interacted with further complicates this process further. There is also a significant amount of pixelhunting for items and hotspots. Most of the time the in-game hints are not sufficient to provide answers and an external guide is suggested. The game makes sense on basic tasks such as using locks. While in other instances puzzles are really just arbitrary such as a minigame in which you have to play with a clock's numbers around. I lost interest fairly early on, without a plot, with mostly skipped minigames, confusing items to examine and combine, rarely intuitive walk clicker scripted sequence and a mostly non-spooky, non esoteric manor with a few haloween props without much soul in them it just becomes too hard to invest into. Otherwise either drags on or lasts a while but given the entertainment value I will give it a hard pass in favor of better titles. Removed local content and moved to hidden library for declutter.
This is actually the best game on steam plz buy it for me
I really enjoyed this game. It's funny, halloween-y and challenging. You play as a small boy you stole a Halloween-book from his dad and is trying to find out what this Halloween is all about. In his quest he meets new, strange friends, solve puzzles, talk to animals and throw garbage at socks. The game has a lot of humour in the dialogues, and imo the voice acting was decent, it felt a bit like a childrens cartoon or so, but that's the feel of the entire game so I didn't mind too much. It did have a feel of "Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy" with a touch of "Beetlejuice", so if that is what you enjoy, and you also like point&click games, this game is for you. The soundtrack I liked, but it's a bit short and doesn't loop all the time, so you'll have long periods of silence before the soundtrack starts over again. I quite liked the artstyle and animations, they're not AAA quality, but that's not really what you expect from this type of game anyways. Some of the puzzles I just did not even and had to youtube to get past. In the hardest mode, which I started out in, there is NO hint or skip button and, for some reason, no HO scenes; those are only in the easier difficulties. I'd recommend playing in one of the easier modes as there is no achievement for playing the hardest. If you want the challenge; just don't use the buttons when they're there. The only achievement involved in this is the one for not skipping any minipuzzles, so you might need to google/youtube as some of them are either so obscurely referenced, poorly explained, or I, and quite a few other people according to the reviews, are just dumb. I'm gonna go with one of the first ones. The labyrinth puzzle for the first room really confused me as I got different symbols from the guide using the same puzzle. I'm not sure if this game is not bugfree or what. Also not a fan of achievements that either you have to the puzzle perfectly for the first time as you probably don't know wtf you're supposed to be doing on your first go, or achievements you get for doing something other than solving the puzzle (looking at you, "shortcutter"). For completists; there is no achievement for getting all the candy or buying all the items for the backyard, so don't worry about it \o/ TL;DR: worth it on sale, and I enjoyed it enough to play it through once; start all over again going for an achievement 4/5ths into the game; fail; start all over again and complete the game after getting it right.
It is an enjoyable point n click with an interesting story and not too shabby pictures. My suggestion here though, don't go casual, pick adventure and say goodbye to 99% of the hidden object sessions in it. Only one you can't avoid, but the point of that one cleanup of an area, so it's not that bad.
One of the best Point & Click Very nice game <3
