One of the worst "puzzle" games I've ever played. It is over-written so poorly by someone whose first language was obviously not English that it's hard to follow anything in the story. The puzzles aren't consistent with each other or even themselves, the cursor doesn't change as it should when finding areas, it's stuck in a 4:3 resolution, the hidden object games incorrectly display clues, the puzzles are astoundingly obtuse, and the first thing you have to solve in the game is a godawful "sliding tile" puzzle.
I really wanted to like this game. Halloween-themed Point&Click? What could possibly go wrong? Well, while the story is nothing special but acceptable the game dynamics made me quit playing this game. It's annoying and buggy from the beginning but after some time I encountered a bug I wasn't able to work around. Reloading etc. didn't help either. Didn't start anew, just quit the game.
Το Evil Pumpkin: The Lost Halloween είναι απ' τα πιο δύσκολα hidden-object/puzzle παιχνίδια που έχω παίξει μέχρι στιγμής!
Very mediocre point & click adventure. Plenty of HOG elements, in some places got stuck so had to check out guide. Story is forgettable and characters a bit bland. For Halloween game it's ok, otherwise skip.
+1 🎃
I appreciate they tried to do something different. I like to give me an option to play as a hidden-object game or as a more classic adventure game. I also have to admit that the mini-games and other game mechanisms were pretty original, not copied from other games. However, the gameplay is just bad. Half of the game actions make no sense, items have no description and the boy's commentary is anything but useful. The game gives you so little information about what things are and what you are supposed to do that you're forced to constantly rely on the hint system, map clues and on using everything on everything. This is inexcusably in this genre.
This was finally a challenging game, which I had not have in a while. Not the HO scenes, but the riddles you had to solve to continue the story. Well done.
Interesting idea for a story that was very badly ruined by mechanics and jumps of logic that required use of inventory items that were less ideal for a solution than others. Expect to check a walkthrough (Braingames walkthrough on Youtube was especially helpful). Wish I could take back the time spent trying to slog my way through on my own.
Just... not fun
