This is dirt, right? Nope, it's ice. But that is surely pavement, correct? Nope, still ice. Cons: - Hate the inertia, aka sliding effect that is pleaguing this game. - Absolutely awful balancing of the game - would you like 10 flat damage that doesn't scale or 15% (!) crit chance that scales beautifully throughout the game. That's your first perk choice for all characters. - Unintuitive ranged class targeting - shall we make the archer shoot where the player is aiming and where the visual aiming line is pointing? No sir, let's make the archer shoot consistently above that point instead. - Absolutely bland gear and loot. Armor and weapons have 3 stats that are either objectively better or worse. You basically get Generic Sword -> Generic Sword +1 -> Generic Sword + 2... - Many more.. Pros: - Nice esthetics and animations. Visually really well done game. Props to the visual designer.
I like this game, and i have 0.3 hours only, this game is fun, but there is no tutorial/i have problem with game design/sometimes i just got stuck when i want to go to another stage. That's all.
I wanted to like Everpath for its simple but pleasing art but ended up bouncing off the obtuse controls. It's not simple, navigating menus. Buttons do different things at different times and although that's common it isn't used well here. Using the analog stick to purchase items and manage inventory is odd because you're moving a cursor across the screen to pick items, but it moves at full speed or not at all. The combat felt kind of easy in a fun way, but I could see it becoming repetitive. You can't move to a new screen while the map's open. Playing as the mage, you'll pick up spell books but they are called bows, clearly a mistake but not one that affects how fun the game feels. Too bad, it seemed like a fun twin stick roguelite with pretty medieval art but it's not going to hook me, with its clunky controls.
This game has problems and the lack of experience of the designer shine trough by some of the elements being counterintuitive. In the following i am using a 360 Controller as reference: The extra perk menu is utterly confusing popping up on the lower right even if i can't actually choose a new perk. The same counts for the map. All three elements have the same obscuring quality make it so you can't activate all three at the same time. Activating one should close the others. Or put them all into the inventory. Speaking of the inventory. Put the inventory on the Back Button, far away from accidental activation. I have huge sausage fingers and it keeps happening. There are a myriad of other slight adjustments and the combat physics have one massive problem that kind off ruins it but i don't think anyone is reading this. I didn't mention the atmosphere which is kind of neat but it doesn't have any use if the basic controls are so flawed.
this is EVERPATH!!!! THE GAME OF LEGEND! IT WAS SO MUCH FUN WATCH OUT FOR THE JELLY CUBE BOSS LOL
So I do like the game but have 1-2 complaints. My keyboard and mouse are kinda broken.. I cant use enter.. so I cant get past the first menu. I can move up and down.. with keys.. but enter is not working. It was working like 3-5 days ago. The slowness of the game sometimes.. I have to start it over and over a few times because it likes "slow motion" and I think its the engine or graphics.. is over loaded.. or something. so only 2 things.. keyboard n mouse fix.. and the slow motion/frame rate.. cause sometimes it works fine and sometimes it dont. thanks so much..
The character does not feel well. No graphics settings (impossible to play on 21x9 screen). Management is inconvenient. Broken perspective - hard to aim. And many other minor problems.
This game is great for a quick pick up and play. I enjoy the atmosphere and style. Boss fights are nice and hard. Issue I have with this game is the controller support. Controllers work, just at the beginning it isn't very intuitive on where the buttons are mapped. Pick this game up if you enjoy this genre and simplicity.
