STAKES. GUNS. SLOW-MO. Fight werewolves and vampires in a reality-shifting motel. Dive through barricades to escape the grasp of evil puppets. Destroy the villain you loved. A new, third-person love letter to classic shooters. Neo-noir never looked so good.

Solid game.
It would be worth recommending if it was a quarter of the length. 50 levels is far too many when none of them are particularly standout in layout or design, and all 6 - very simple - enemy types + 1 equally simple recurring miniboss are introduced before the halfway point. The game also never really raises the enemy density to throw an actual challenge at you, so it just gets really boring really fast. And then the final boss is a reactionary fight against a single bullet sponge with no ads at all...questionable choice at best. The game's vocal tracks are great and the highlight of the playthrough, but because of the inane number of levels, they end up feeling really few and far between.

[th]WHEN[/th] Your ex, Draculae, and her vampiric brood is literally going to end the world

[th]WHERE[/th] A motel outside of El Paso and the void underneath. Room after room of warped reality.

[th]WHO ARE YOU[/th] James Savage, an addict in relapse, on the way to the bottom to stop her.

[th]WHAT DO YOU DO[/th] Delve deep into the void, floor after bloody floor. Merciless mobs of her monsters writhe and ragdoll in hails of hot lead. Blind corners and claustrophobic corridors are your foe’s undoing; your lightning quick reflexes ripping them apart.

[th]WHY IT'S WORTH PLAYING[/th] YOU KEEP GOING. Up. Down. Time slows, distorts, bullets fly, bodies fall. Fast, fierce, frenetic, you mow them down, one after the next, to stop her. Pills pop, beats drop, and YOU KEEP GOING.

I should have played this game sooner. As a huge fan of Max Payne, I've had this game on my radar for awhile. I can say that this game does a great job of replicating the fun of Max Payne's bullet time combat. With the main difference being an abundance of melee based enemies. But honestly the story and presentation are what make this game. I won't spoil it, but James Savage's character is a lot more intriguing as a protagonist than I was expecting. The voice acting and soundtrack both do a great job of elevating the game beyond just a series of combat hallways. I'm so glad this game is getting a sequel.
I don't think I have ever liked a shooter this much. El Paso is an addictive, arcadey, gun blazing Max Payne like with a wayyy better story and atmosphere. I'm not sure what more to say. The script is so good that I hope the feature film rumors are true. This game is really fun.
For €10, you’re in for a fun weekend (sale price). The gameplay is almost 100% Max Payne. Unfortunately, Max Payne-style slow-motion jumps are a suicide move. Most enemies catch up to you before you can get back on your feet. Even in boss fights, you have to roll to survive. The atmosphere is top-notch. The story might feel like a fanfiction self-insert from the developer, but I have seen worse in bigger titles. A few levels are really well done in terms of design and structure. However, there are also a few filler levels mixed in. Without the filler levels and the very fragmented cutscenes, I think it would have a more tight package. As it is, though, it gets a bit boring halfway through. Still, I’m looking forward to Part 2.
Nice boomer shooter with Max Payne vibes and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Nice guns. Nice music. Goosebumps.
Finally a game like max payne, amazing stuff, the rap in the beginning was legendary, hope I hear more in the rest of the game.
A fun little game, the gameplay is a little rough around the edges but the overall vibe and the strong voice acting made this an enjoyable game to go through. Plus a less than ten hour run time makes this game a no brainer for those who are missing Max Payne or other classic third person shooters. Excited for the sequel
