Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.86/day in the week to Sep 10 → 2/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Amazing game. Made me remember why I loved jrpgs.

When people and dev said there was no missable. I dunno there's one missing character that will knock you out of reach of certain set of achievements.
The best story/graphics/voice in the world cannot compensate for this game's poor combat system. Nothing makes sense, the game is just attack-attack-attack and spam heal. No meaningful spells, support skills, tanking skills, non-existent character customization, and terrible design overall. Powerful hero combos do less damage than sum of individual attacks for the heroes. Some boss designs are so bad that the only way to win is keep reloading your save until you get lucky with rng.
dub people really destryed the dialogues
Had this game on my wishlist for a long time and was about to remove it. Anyway I gave it a try. This game is REALLY good! Enjoyed a lot checking out all the characters in the game Dont be like me and check this one!!!
後期沒在用的角色被硬推上去打怪, 沒等級、沒武器、沒裝備要怎麼打? 爛透了...
Very soft thumbs-up for diehard Suikoden fans looking for something
The game has a lot dragging it down, but riding in the wake of its forefathers and occasional glimpses of brilliance make it worth at least trying.
The Bad

Quality of Life / Playability
For many, the game has controller joystick drift issues because the programmers went too light on deadspaces so most players will have to figure out how to fix it themselves. Do that before buying a new controller. The fixed camera moves a lot in confusing ways that can make moving around and finding things challenging. Mechanics of gameplay aren't really explained well. Why is there a shield icon next to my character? Why are there so many potential rune slots? Is there something about elemental affinities? Odd forced choices -- you can't name your castle and have to choose from a handful of fixed names that you have to randomly toggle through, three at a time. Way too many annoying Kickstarter things that completely break immersion -- the aforementioned castle name, portraits in buildings, NPC names, and random casualty names in big battles read like a Twitch stream. Too many instances where you are given control of your character, take three steps, are thrust into a battle or a cutscene and the same loop happens three times in a row. Following on to the previous, I'm about ten hours in and still don't feel like I have control of playing the game. The new spin on duels and strategic war battles seem to be worse than the predecessors.
Localization / Story
The game refuses to take itself seriously -- almost any moments of true tension are broken with sarcastic quips, winks at the camera, and memes that were contemporary at time of localization. It's somewhere in the realm of Joss Whedon / Quirk Chungus / reddit fedora tipping that really breaks immersion when compared to the old Suikoden games. In other instances where the game doesn't resort to the above, it just... pulls back and doesn't take the choice that would make the story deep and compelling. Some spoiler examples:
When Eltisweiss is being taken by the Empire and Perrielle admits that there is no secret escape path and she was sacrificing herself to save others -- kinda sorta her Odessa moment, the game takes a complete 180 and she just... walks out and survives.
,
After the Empire burns Kyshiri Village, not only does everyone survive but the village is just built back like basically nothing ever happens.
It invalidates itself constantly. Most of the characters, at least up to when you get the castle, are simply annoying. They have accents that don't make sense, personalities that just grate, and almost none of them seem to be taking what is happening seriously. Calling the (good) gimmicks in boss battles gimmicks -- this just undercuts any seriousness and immersion in the game. There was so much potential but the story, at least in the English Localization, made the decision to be late 2010s cool and quirky with a very contemporary progressive sensibility.
The Questionable
Voice acting is an odd choice here because when executed less than great, it can really handicap the story and immersion. Similarly, with the campaign needing Kickstarter funding, not sure why time and resources were used here instead of almost anything else.
The Good
The story keeps trying to slide into Suikoden 2 in a good way. When it plays in that area, it succeeds. The dungeons are interesting and the gimmicks in the boss battles are a nice addition. The score is exceptional. Some moments like
the first duel with Seign
were elite and cinematic. A lot of the gameplay does stay pretty true to the first two Suikoden games.
Bottom Line
Previously I would've softly recommended this game if you love Suikoden and go in with low expectations. The more I play however, the less I can recommend this game to anyone. Even with a localization mod to fix the (mostly political) excesses of the team that was responsible for this fetid turd of a translation littered with personal politics and quirky sarcasm, the story still just straight up sucks when compared to any of its predecessors. Nothing you're doing really matters and you never feel like you might actually lose the war. The mechanics are mostly ♥♥♥♥. The game just... it sucks. I'm sorry. I wanted it to be at least decent but it fails at that.
