About
Anuchard. It was known as a place of wonder and peace, a land of limitless bounty suspended in the heavens above. Five ancient Guardians kept it safe from all harm... Until they turned on the kingdom and its denizens. The Anuchardian paradise fell from the skies, crashing onto the surface of the world below. Only a tiny speck of an island survived the fall intact. The rest coalesced into a twisted mass of winding passages, wild magic, and vicious monsters, known simply as The Dungeon. Somewhere within, the five treasonous Guardians lay asleep.
Generations passed as the few survivors eked out an existence in the Orchard, the sole village on the island, maintaining what little remains of Anuchardian magic. Farmers tend to the fields, scavengers try to pick the bones of the kingdom in the Dungeon. All await the Chosen One, the Bellwielder who will take up the Audros Bell, enter the Dungeon, and wake the Guardians from their slumber, and bring back the paradise lost: Return Anuchard to the heavens.
Finally, you were judged worthy to take up the mantle of the Bellwielder. The Dungeon awaits!

Being compared to the Quintet trilogy is, in my opinion, one of the highest compliments a game could receive. Unfortunately, this wasn't it. I don't know what the reviews were thinking. The combat is very clunky, the weapon is not satisfying to use. There are some semblants of customization with recipes you can make, but because of the long animation there is little reason to experiment after you find a combo that works (for me that was cabbage first and potato second for more health and attack). As another review said the "heavy attack" is terrible to use because that button is actually used for a very unhelpful roll (the hitbox for the actual heavy attack is also very finnicky during combat and it never feels satisfying). Your character moves way too slowly, you'll be fighting the same few enemies through the entire course of the game with no variation to their gimmicks and behavior, and the dungeons are all very samey and short and huge at the same time (likely due to the abysmal walking speed). There are some interesting ideas for the plot but the writing is not good. There's some gratuitous swearing and the three sidekicks who accompany you have some MCU-style quips among themselves. The protagonist is almost literally a blank slate, with no personality or gender, leading to all the dialogue coming from the fellow villagers coming across as stiff and robotic (even the mother's way of referring to the protagonist makes it feel like there's a giant chasm of no emotional connection between them). The ending sequence is especially bad because
it brings up some shallow meta concepts from out nowhere
and the two different endings are obtained by a single choice that is spelled out to you in exhaustion before you make them. It's about as subtle as "Do you want ending A or B?". Actually, it's exactly that. There's no element of surprise due to the lack of characterization. Maybe if the protagonist was an actual character with some agency in this world then the true ending could have been made to be the only ending. I think that would have improved it somewhat instead of how the game presents it as some sort of thing that doesn't matter.
Not recommended because of the infuriating context-sensitive and character-rooting combat controls Get this: the move described as Heavy Attack will 90 % of the time do a DODGE ROLL. Unless you are close enough to touch the enemy, it will be a roll. This breaks the combat because enemy moving a little away will turn your planned Heavy Attack into a useless dodge roll. This will hamper you ALL THE TIME. It is risky to pull off a Heavy Attack, though you have to do it because some enemies take 0 damage unless you HA them first. The plot is really stupid and predictable. Unless you really like the pixel-s!!t graphics, this game has little redeeming value. It feels like a me-too project that is a lukewarm re-interpretation of game mechanics that have been done before much better. For example, the upgrades and the food buff thing. It lacks a lot of the modern QoL developments and forces you to go through the extensive end-game dialogues again just to see another ending. You are not going to anything in this game that you haven't seen in other games. It tries to be a dialogue-based product, though the dialogue is pretty basic and not good enough to be a selling point.
Sinopsis

This game really surprised me with how fun and satisfying its mechanics are. Using the Bell as both a weapon and a puzzle-solving tool makes the gameplay feel refreshing —there’s something really enjoyable about knocking enemies into obstacles and timing hits just right. Playing as the Bellwielder feels meaningful because every soul I rescued added more depth to the story. Each person in the village has their own little personality that makes the world feel alive. So it’s a short, cozy and charming game with mechanics that stay fun from start to finish. It’s definitely the kind of action RPG that sticks with you. Difficulty to 100% - (2/5) Tracking down every collectible, perfecting the dungeon runs and completing all the side objectives takes decent amount of effort and attention but is somewhat simple.
Amazing game. Please play it. It's so much more than it looks, and the ending is a whirlwind of emotions. Takes about 8h to finish.
