Game is totally broken. Lots of literally Gamebreaking bugs. Basic mechanics break, need to replay fights because i literally can't dammage opponents because the game breaks. Camera shifting and then not moving at all (my character isn't even on screen and its not possible to fix without closing and reopening the game). Cutscenes playing twice in a row. This is one of the worst and most buggy experiences I've had with a game.
Another game in the series where I’m not sure whether to recommend it or not, but let’s say I do. Pros: - The game has everything you’d expect from a JRPG. The combat system is pretty good. The characters have a variety of skills to choose from. The crystal system is pretty cool, but in the endgame you’ll be rerolling them endlessly while upgrading. It have also a few discrepancies like Spring I indicating existence of Spring II. - A fairly well-developed crafting system. Of course, you’ll find plenty of items along the way, but if you’re missing an ingredient, you can easily buy it. - Overall, the game rewards you for scouring every nook and cranny in search of chests and hidden loot. Mostly with some items and more importantly weapon recipes. - The music is catchy. - Graphically, it doesn’t look bad at all for a Unity engine game, although... Cons: - ...If you have an AMD graphics card, it’s highly likely that not all shaders will load. Including nearly all the foliage. In my case, I fixed this using DXVK. The developers seem to be blaming AMD for this issue... - Overall, the game is underpolished. VA in dialogue cuts, frozen interface elements, combat freezes, totally black screen on one boss, buggy puzzle mechanics, graphical artifacts, and occasional crashes to the desktop. - In addition to the above, there are design-related issues. Both the map and the minimap are useless. The map itself lacks detail and is too vague. It’s missing even something as basic as the ability to zoom out. Nekaroo tends to disappear after cutscenes forcing you to summon it again. UI navigating can be frustrating with controller (weapon crafting). Choosing teleportation destination jumps all around world map because these are sorted by story/unlock order. My first impression was that I was looking at a port of a mobile game but overall it's wasn't a bad experience. Play only if you have high tolerance for clunkiness.
Changed it from positive to negative due to Alot of buggs Update- Jesus christ this game really doesnt want me to play...i understand that its made by 8 people and that is a INSANE achivment and unbelivable but the game has SOOO many bugs and especially big battles where the turn gets locked and your only thing to do i pass the time and especiall when there is a turret or a AI companion cuz the turn is theres but shows your turn and then it gets locked and ure only thing u can do is make it autobattle and hope ai can pull it off. Lost 40 min of progression now when it locked my game 100% no button worked and alt+f4 was the only option to quit Cons-The progression is terrible and so badly designed i really hope they slop it for the sequal cuz darn is it a drag. Give me a skill tree and trait system so i can pick the what they get not having luck and have gems drop in battles thats so bad. The gear just stagnates at chapter 3-4 and u wont get better gear and the monsteres are so DARN TANKY, that Honey mob is insane.... . Why do they lock the teleportations devices for some places are a while even though u can manually go there which makes 0 sense. The mounts should have a faster move speed button or make it that every flower u pick up makes you run 10%/20 % faster and doesnt go away untill u jump off. easy fix Auto battle works great att the first couple hours by god does it get braindead past chapter 3 attack with normal attacks and walking in with the magician like what?. WHY DOES EVERY BOSS INCOUNTER HAVE SPROUTS THAT KEEP SPAWNING WITHOUT ANYONE SUMMINING IT, its not fun? Dont make it so u get the recipe for wepons but then dont sell that mats you need to craft it???? like who came upp with this and thought it was a good idea? The 3rd companion is so darn bad and does 0 dmg , atleast let me pick how it work and not do 10 dmg and zero abilities The game kinda doesnt start untill like 10 hours in and is okay, but having only 8 people make this kinda blows my mind but it does have some flaws and big ones The bad-The open zones was a mistake, they could have made the game so much better if they dident have them and focused on the story and having it all voiced. not being able to use mount straight away in zones is one of the weirdes choices ever. Having to run 1600 meter every time for quests is such a drag. Also they should have made a tree for lvling up like base stats 2% magic or 2% health so everytime u lvl up it matters and you could pick your own spells/attacks. The good- The story gets pretty good and the tower quest is great fun and was a great way to get gear
I really want to like this game, it has everything a good JRPG should have. but its really unpolished and now has been just dumped by the wayside by the developers in favour of a sequel. I bought this game when it first joined early access, but aside from a now slightly confusing prologue (before you fought your way out of a camp to desert, with some story and now you get dumped in a town with a few iffy markers) not much has really changed bar adding more content. The map quality is horrible, both minimap and larger. The voice acting in english is of mixed quality, the battle camera is an absolute joke - incessant popups on the HUD are an annoyance. I've got sound and lighting bugs. Stepping out of the first village onto the beach, the sun hitting the sand shows lines. the quality is just not there and wont ever be added.
A classic example of why Western devs should stay far away from JRPGs. This is nothing but regurgitated slop that the creator of this game puked back up after playing them. Never start your game off with an entire screen dedicated to "We're a small developer team" - please no bully. So now we all go into it expecting less, great thought process there, I'm primed for a disaster, or was that the plan all along? Who did the DeviantArt commissions for the art in this game? This game is a weeaboo emulation. I'd rather play Kingdom Hearts with a mod that makes Donald's voice 50% louder. I feel so bad for people who downvoted this game after 40 hours. You don't need a workweek to understand how terrible this game is going to be based on how it starts. A 7/11 slurpie is worth more than this on sale.
An average RPG that is not particularly good in many areas and generally does little better compared to games similar to its genre. Nevertheless, it is quite okay. The characters and the story save it a bit.
Started the game, the opening cutscene glitched out halfway and the game loaded while the cutscene was still trying to play with a cacophany of overlapping audio. Saved game, reloaded to spare my ears, picked up a quest that states: "Kill the rare and dangerous lizard in the mountains, who is much larger and more dangerous than the usual lizards" Only for the actual quest to be "Kill four baby lizards on the beach." Walked to the beach to first the first enemy in the game, walked into the clearly visible baby lizards on the beach, only to be greeted by a glitched invisible lizard with a ranged attack (that was also invisible)that couldnt be located no matter how much I moved the character around the battlefield, the game refused to let me run from battle, because it was a quest target so it slowly whittled my character down to zero hit points over the course of 10 minutes. I do commend the developers on selling the game for $45 with $40 of DLC, as it can't have been easy to upload to the steam store while smoking crack. This game is not even worth it for $5 on sale, its an incomplete, rushed buggy mess that was shoved out the door in hopes of a quick cash grab. Avoid.
More Final Fantasy than Final Fantasy
Done on a budget of 10 packs of noodles and a bit of energy drinks
Feels like a small/unpopular MMO that got converted into a turn-based jRPG in a couple of months.

The first thing you do is an MMO style fetch-quest in an open world.
Bland open world. Chests with junk are littered everywhere, much like trees or mineable rocks in an MMO are.
Controls are just a little too clunky (really resembles a cheaper MMO).
There are lots of small interactions that just feel unfinished (like rocks instantly vanishing if you hit/collect them or UI stretching in weird ways).
I could go on.... Anyways, I didn't even feel like giving it a proper chance because of how dated the game feels without offering anything even remotely interesting.
Edge of Eternity is a backwards attempt at making a JRPG by western developers who pretty clearly had no idea what they were doing. It looks and plays like an early Xbox 360 game despite being developed between around 2017 and 2023, and is a pastiche of things ripped from other, better games filled with mechanics that feel like they exist solely so that the developers could say they do. The game starts with a plot ripped directly from Star Ocean 2: you have a medieval fantasy realm at war with a spacefaring civilization that has dropped Galactic Ebola on them, and your plucky protagonist, a teenage idiot with hair that looks like it was welded on, is out to save his family from it and end the war. I knew at this point that it was not going to be a good game, but it gets so much worse. The gameplay is a frankensteined monstrosity of the first Xenoblade game and the PS1-era Final Fantasy games, except with even worse pacing issues than either of those games had. It's a game stuck in 1999 made in an era where even the companies who made the games that "inspired" this one were focused on streamlining their games and removing the boring parts. The game takes place entirely on one contiguous world map, which looks exactly like launch World of Warcraft in that it's overly large and empty. This is where things start getting stupid. The world map takes approximately forever to navigate if you use the default movement options, which include simply walking (very slow) and sprinting (slightly less slow but still too slow). You do get a mount, but it's also really slow even when sprinting. The fastest movement option is mashing R1, which makes your character do a sword lunge that's meant to be used on enemies to give you a pre-emptive attack against them but also launches him forward around 10 meters every time you do it. Mashing R1 is faster than the mount's sprint speed, which is one of the most backwards things I've ever seen in game design. The battles also make no sense because of how the game is balanced. You start each battle with full HP and MP, and so there's very little reason for you to ever use physical attacks given that you're almost never going to run out of MP unless you get into a boss fight. I'm not sure why they even had an option for physical attacks in the first place, nor am I sure why it takes three button presses to use a physical attack when there is no reason it should ever take more than two. I got bored of this half an hour in and I'm probably never going to come back to it until I uninstall it.
