This game is fantastic in every possible way! You are Thalya, the adopted, and evil, daughter of Tanos. Your job is to replace the good in the world with bad. Your home is an underground dungeon full of "little snots" who work in the dungeon, digging for gold and mana. As they dig, you have them build the rooms you need such as a graveyard, for your evil creatures to go when they die, a chicken coop so they have food, and of course a treasury room for all the gold the little snots dig up. The good people from the overworld will come down to your dungeon so it's a good idea to build traps. Spikes that pop up from the floor, or arrows that shoot out of walls, and even rolling boulders to crush your enemies are a few of the traps you'll build. However many games have similar mechanics, what sets Dungeons III ahead of those games is the interaction between the narrator and Thalya. They are both aware they're in a game, and poke fun at each other and the game itself. The narrator isn't there to help you so much as keep you entertained. The graphics are vibrant and very well done, and still look great on "average" hardware. It's strictly isometric.I'd call it a mix of fairy tale meets WarCraft III. The battles your evil creatures have with the good people aren't too hard, unless you select "hellish." Each chapter (at least that I've completed so far) take about an hour but you can easily spend much much longer if you want to build out the ultimate evil dungeon! The game is heaps entertaining, so even if you're not winning you're still having a fun time.
The overworld is a nice addition compared to the old dungeon keeper games, however while the overworld in every level is diverse and has different conditions/setups, the underworld is exactly the same every single game: A few big gold nodes, one diamond node, a few spiders here and there. It feels just like annoying micromanagement to manage the dungeon while doing battles above and switching back in between the two of them. The game isn't even hard (played on hellish mode) just stressful and annoying because you simply can't take care of both at the same time. The one mission where you took care of dungeon during day and fought on overworld during night was a bit nicer and more relaxed. But still a rather dull dungeon to discover. For me one of the cool things in dungeon keeper was always to discover the dungeon with nooks and rooms and everything nice (or not so nice). This is certainly not the case here. So if you expect a cool dungeon gameplay stay away from it.
Love this game, hearkens back to the old bull frog Dungeon Keeper. Heavily recommend!
Good game. For those of you expecting Dungeon Keeper - Don't, It's more of a DK-RTS hybrid. Story is meh but the narrator makes up for it :)
This game is a struggle with trying to manage everything, trying to set up your dungeon with the too frequent occasion of enemy heroes invading your dungeon when you're not ready, and timed objectives that you will most likely fail, unless the heroes you're not ready for manage to destroy your dungeonheart
The lack of possibility to permanently rotate the camera is driving me crazy. This should not be a difficult fix. Can it be fixed? Thank you.
since today suddenly the game wont start anymore. just keeps opening their launcher then goes back to the launcher each time in endless mode. the launcher looks like it has been programmed in the 90ies by someone with basic html knowledge anyways so i assume the launcher is the problem. since game became unplayable suddenly now without changes on my end i cannot recommend this game anymore.
