Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour

First playthrough review time. The 20th Anniversary version of Duke Nukem is a first-person shooter game that follows a classic action style with shooting and exploration. This version stands out as the most visually refined release. The updated rendering gives a proper 3D look, and the depth is clearly improved compared to earlier releases. The overall presentation shows a clear step forward. However, the gameplay response is not smooth. Mouse aiming is not responsive and makes precise adjustment difficult. Movement also has a delayed reaction, so starting, stopping, and changing direction does not happen instantly. Weapon switching can also act inconsistently, sometimes selecting the wrong option during quick input. In conclusion, while the visual side has been improved in a clear way, the control system holds the game back. The lack of sharp response in movement and aiming reduces the overall quality of interaction, making the experience uneven despite the strong graphical update.

There are so many issues with this cursed source port. Trash mouse aiming, rewind feature keeps thinking I've died when I still have over 100 health, unable to use keys on doors, constant issues with resolution changing randomly, and those are just the recurring issues. Outside of this, the sound effects are compressed, the game lacks native access to a large amount of official content, and John St. John's re-recorded voice lines lack the enthusiasm of his original delivery. Honestly, find a copy of Megaton Edition, use eDuke, or find some way to play the game that doesn't involve Randy's screwing things up

It's Duke 3d. Why not? I get why a lot of people don't care for this version of the game, so I'll get the negative out of the way first. It was lame to pull Megaton Edition and not include the additional episodes in this version. We should get an update to this version to include those. Hands down, I agree with everyone that has this critique. Other than that, I like the updated lighting. I also like Alien World Order. It is quite challenging and will put just about any old school duke 3d pro to the test on higher difficulty. Final boss was lame, though, but I'm not going to let that flaw get in the way of what I thought was creative level design and tons of challenge. I feel like a follow up to Duke Nukem Forever would be kind of rad in the build engine. Seeing what can be done with it (Ion Fury), it should be an easy way to bring duke back. Eh, what do I know?

This is a perfect example of how old single player fps games used to be, this game is a timeless classic that blows most modern games out the water. It took me some time to get the hang of it and to start really enjoying it.

I would explain this game as: Doom but you're a badass dude that gets all the women. The music in this game is very good, the map design is my favorite, the bosses are kind of meh and most of the levels are super fun. This game got me interested a lot and didn't bore me. I genuinely prefer this game over Doom.
