Rhythm Sprout: Sick Beats & Bad Sweets

Pure garbage with no controls remapping, weird controller support and made impossible for the brain to react correctly. Colors don't make any sense since they don't match the buttons. Notes coming in the same row is confusing too. One of the worst rhythm games i've ever played.

The gameplay is like Stepmania with only 3 buttons, mostly only 2, but still gets very challenging! The story is about healthy vegetables fighting invading sweets. The dialogues are mostly cringe humor, very weird and often have movie/tv references for some reason. Even though the presentation is for kids the characters behave not family friendly quite often. The king doesn't care about his daughter, forgets that she exists the whole time and didn't care if she is dead at one point. Even our hero protagonist at one point is killing sweets characters even though they're not attacking him. Many characters behave unusual like they're crazy and made me feel uncomfortable. The music tracks are cool and vary the rhythm in good ways. Recommended if you like rhythm games!

I'll preface my review with Rhythm Fans should give this a go at $2.99 USD. Even full price may be worth it. Simple, addictive, and at times can be pretty challenging considering it only uses 3 buttons (any face button, any D-pad direction and any bumper is how you hit certain notes) this freedom also lets you spice things up a bit on your own if you want too for an added challenge as well as each level having an "Ex Mode" you can attempt after you complete it for the first time that add modifiers. You're an Onion sprout who happens to be a knight and serves the rude and never satisfied King Brock, you are tasked with defending the vegetable kingdom place from the 'sweets'. That's about as in depth the story gets but thats not why we play rhythm games. Each level has a funny little piece of the story that gives you a reason for going through the levels and not skipping the dialogue, as each level has it's own mini dialogue in the beginning the carries the 'story'.

Just enough buttons to be satisfying without being overwhelming

This game is a treat. Rhythm heads should run this one through at least once.

Seeing 88 hours on a game about a walking onion in a tracksuit might seem ridiculous, especially when I only have 10 out of 31 achievements unlocked. But that is the ultimate testament to how good Rhythm Sprout actually is. I didn't spend almost 90 hours hunting down arbitrary trophies or checking off a completionist list; I spent it replaying the exact same tracks on Turbo and Mirror modes purely because the music and the vibrant aesthetics are an absolute masterpiece. If you are a fan of rhythm action games with popping visuals and genuinely engaging original soundtracks, this is a hidden gem. It completely ditches the overly complex, multi-lane mechanics of traditional rhythm games and boils it down to three simple inputs: left, right, and dodge. But do not let that fool you. By the time you reach the later stages and EX levels, the note charts become a frantic, hyper-focused dance that will completely melt your brain in the best way possible. The genre variety is insane, flawlessly bouncing from high-energy EDM and K-Pop to chill Lo-Fi beats, making every single stage feel fresh. The story is delightfully self-aware and absurd, serving as a perfect little breather between the intense musical gauntlets. Is it a flawless game? Not quite. The difficulty spikes can be a bit jarring between stages, and if you aren't playing on a controller, the keyboard mapping can feel a little cramped during the faster BPM sections. But honestly, the sheer quality of the audio-visual experience completely overshadows any minor design flaws. It is an aggressively catchy, colorful rhythm brawler that will have you tapping your foot long after you close the game. Final Verdict: 8.5/10. Pure musical dopamine.
