Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 3: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

There's nothing technically wrong with this game, other than that it's an extremely lazy, cookie cutter, remake that someone at Square was desparately shoving out the door. There are a couple content additions that really aren't a huge deal, and tbh calling this a "remake" is a stretch. The best feature here is the faster move speed. This is a remaster of, despite it's influence, a very simple, small jrpg. It's insulting to sell this as a full price MSRP $60 game. It feels like it just reuses a bunch of assets from their other hd/2d games, and I'm not convinced some of the stuff in here like the paintings in the castle interiors aren't AI generated. Otherwise the game is fine. It's very dated, and ALL of its ideas have been redone in later games. Still it's enjoyable, not that Square knows with how little attention it paid to this product. I'm definitely not getting the DQ I & II remakes; to do such a cash grab on THE classic trilogy is so lame. This is like the bedrock of all JRPGS, you couldn't draw some trees that look like the old pixels for this? You couldn't draw some animation frames on the player characters? Or even, just leave them in frame during battle? 0 sauce. Sauceless game.
As someone who grew up with Dragon Quest IX on the Nintendo DS, this game means a lot to me on a personal level. DQIX was literally my childhood — a game I randomly found on a football field, damaged and barely working until my brother fixed it by putting the cartridge into a different case. Because of that, I’ve always had a huge amount of nostalgia for the Dragon Quest series. But despite all of that, this is actually my first time playing the classic Dragon Quest trilogy — and I am honestly blown away. Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is absolutely beautiful. The graphics are stunning, the world feels alive, the music hits perfectly, and even though I’m still early in the story, it’s already incredibly charming and emotional. The whole presentation shows so much love and care, and you can feel the soul of the original game in every moment. This remake is crafted with so much passion that I would recommend it to anyone — longtime fans and newcomers alike. If this is your first Dragon Quest game, you’ll fall in love. And if you’re already a fan, this remake is everything you could hope for. I am enjoying it so much, and I can’t wait to keep playing. After finishing III, I’ll definitely move on to the remakes of I and II as well. And honestly… I truly hope that one day Dragon Quest IX will come to PC too. That would be a dream come true. Dragon Quest III is a masterpiece — absolutely recommended. <3
I've never played any Dragon Quest games but I took a chance and got 1,2, and 3 on the sale a couple of weeks ago. Since 3 takes place first I started with that game and I got HOOKED! This is such a fun game. I love the atmosphere, the music, and the fact that the map is basically earth. The music does sound like it's going to be Star Wars music sometimes haha! Can't wait to play the whole Dragon Quest series. Hope 4,5,6,8&9 are remastered and released on PC sometime in the next year or two. Instant buy for me. Once I beat 1,2 & 3 I'll get 7 and 11.
Played on Dragon Quest Difficulty. Game is an actual snoozefest (see what i did there). As in literally all except 2 Boss requires snooze to be slayed easily. Became aware of some giant plot holes in the story of that game. About the performance of the Game, do note that the game will be locked to 60 FPS or less without external modifications (which cannot be guaranteed to be safe). This game is only worth it at 50% off or more at the very least.
If you can get past some repetitive gameplay and omega-cringe accents, this is an endearing old-school JRPG romp. I'll confess, I'm fairly new to 'Dragon Quest.' My first experience with the franchise was with the mobile versions of II-VI. At 'Dragon Quest III," I felt that the series was still trying to find its feet. The job class system is arguably the game's strongest point. Your hero will always be a Hero, but your three companions, which you recruit from a guild at the game's first town, can be a Warrior, Thief, Mage, Priest, Martial Artist, Merchant, Monster Wrangler, or Gadabout. Obviously, each of these classes has different abilities, skills, and equipment sets. Your stat growth can be tweaked further than what the class normally provides, however, by altering your characters' Personality type through the use of Books and Accessories. Eventually, you'll be able to mix and match classes too. Although two of the classes are pretty much useless beyond unlocking content later in the game. It should go without saying, given how old this game is, but don't expect epic-level storytelling. Like most early-JRPGs, you'll be doing little more than fetching macguffins and rescuing helpless NPCs for 50+ hours. Random battles are dialed up to 11. Grinding is required. But perhaps this remake's worst feature is the dialogue. Each town and race has had its own regional accent for a few iterations of 'DQIII,' but this is the first time you get to hear them, and after hearing a character speak in a borderline offensive faux-Indian accent, I wish I hadn't. Outdatedness aside, 'Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake' is still a solid choice for those looking to scratch that old-school RPG itch. The game kinda wears out its welcome after 30 or so hours, but the graphics and music are pretty, and the class system is fun to play around with. Just know what you're getting into before you do.
