Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Completed the game with 100% achievement in almost 120 hours. This being my first Dragon Quest game I didn't expect much. As this is a remake of an older game I understand why the combat system and story being too simple but was more surprised how balanced the game is on Draconian Difficulty. I never felt it being too easy, completing the achievements takes a while and not too grindy. Classes were fun and great for building your own team the way you want. Visuals were really good and I'd always praise Akira Toriyama's art style for the characters. Added voice acting for certain scenes were a nice touch to more to the story. Now moving on to the next Dragon Quest game!
This remake is absolutely gorgeous and the best way to experience this old title in the present. Gameplay wise it was obviously influential for the time but in the modern day it feels quite dated. Party members having no character at all leaves things feeling quite soulless. While the story can appear basic its actually quite captivating with a few twists and turns. Visuals are incredible and the voice acting is very enjoyable, start the journey of Erdrick ASAP!

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 3: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

For me it was only fun once I got the 2x/5x EXP+Gold addon... otherwise its waaaaaay too grindy. If you 2x or 5x, the game is about 40-50 hours, if you modify nothing then it'll be a 90 hour game, with 60+ hours of just grinding monsters. I started the EXP addon about halfway through so maybe my time calc is a bit off. I don't mind grinding a little or a medium amount, but when grinding completely supercedes game progression and you need to spend 2+ hours just to get the next level of store bought armor thats where I personally draw the line. :)
This is the first Dragon Quest Game I have ever played and it is easily one of the most boring RPGs I have ever played. To be fair its a older game and the remake can only do so much. Not sure if I will beat the game, but its a slog with a ridiculous amount of battles. Fighting 6 enemies that can take two turns each is poor design. You can lose fights by simply walking slightly too far in one direction and encountering enemies you are not high enough level for. It doesn't even matter what choices you make in battle, you can get wiped out very quickly. Most of the time you might as well let the combat be automatic and set the hero to an AI setting. It's just not a good game and relies on nostalgia.
Dragon Quest is a synonym for RPGs in Japan ☆ This old game series is traditional and very very classic.... you played DQ once? you feel home regardless which part you play! My personal favorite is DQ5 but DQ3 is great too, I once played it on my gameboy color and its great to play as 2D-3D remaster it looks so beautiful and the bunch of QoL Updates help to jump into this old game. No technical issues for me on my steam deck, but the games bit grindy or very difficult, there were bosses I had to fight several times like in Souls-games lol Square Enix found a nice way to polish old games, DQ7 Remake (which I'm playing on PS5) is also fantastic ♡ Looking forward to play many other Dragon Quest games, they will always stay one of the best satisfying RPGs for me ♡♡♡
A bit long, and the characters don't have personalities, but still engaging throughout, even if the combat system could have more to desire.
If you can stomach random encounters its just as high-quality as the later games and will often make you forget it was originally on the NES
불편한 시스템은 왜 리메이크를 안했나요...
I really hope Square Enix removes the censorship of Akira Toriyama designs soon and restores the main characters genders. As soon as I heard Square Enix was firing all of the American developers responsible for ruining one of my all time favorite game I immediately bought the Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD 2d remake and Dragon Quest 3 HD 2d remake after waiting almost a year to buy Dragon Quest 3 remake.
