Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Having only played this to the end for the first time in 2026, it aged very well. Great, dark story that is often lacking in games these days. Uplifted by unique banter between your party. I'll probably return one day to play again, and select different characters to be in my party to listen to the various conversations

EA keeps ruining everything we love and turning it into garbage. I hope a good studio takes over the franchise and make a perfect game like this again.

Others have asked on my sparse other reviews: this is my favorite game. I have put the archdemon (Archie to my friends) in the ground 21 times. I have romanced every character, sometimes four at once. I have killed every companion except Alistair, Dog, and Roland. I have drunk of the forbidden blood magic potion and encouraged a mother to let her child die of exposure. Most of the time, though, I'm the monogamous dual-wield assassin and Hero of Ferelden. I choose all the best and moral options on most playthroughs, but the game made me curious enough to see what evil looked like. This game is endlessly moddable. You can play it however you like. If you want the dog with you all the time, that's a (highly recommended) option. Want the bad guy on your team? The base game allows that (for a price). Want to lead a dragon cult, become a blood mage, or summon druidic creatures from the aether? Go for it. People have created fully voiced companions for this game (Roland being the best, and recommended). There are new maps to explore, fan-made puzzles and armors and locations and tavern music. Even past its heyday, the Dragon Age Nexus Mods forum is hoppin' with options to customize your play experience to exactly what you want it to be. This game is about 60% cutscene. You are in a slow apocalypse, trying to save the world with your friends (or enemies). The only choice you have to make is kill Archie. Everything else is completely up to you. A villain can save the world, if that's what you choose. Or you can marry Alistair, return to Antiva with Zev, join Leliana on her pilgrimages... there are many kinds of happy ending for you and your companions, who are uniformly well-written and likable, with their own mechanics; getting to know them makes them stronger and more capable throughout the game. Morrigan, Alistair, Leliana, Zevran, Sten, Wynne, and Shale were the friends I made in quarantine, and I feel no shame over it. Game writing does not get much better than this. It is a time suck. (See my play time? It's actually more; I started on a different account.) It is a wonderful distraction that will likely keep you up until midnight at least once. It is what every grimdark fantasy thing wants to be, only bursting with hope. If you've never played this game, your life is missing something.

Yep, this is in my top 3 best rpgs that i have ever played. Where do i even start... Like even the least "good" aspect of this game is still pretty damn good imo. The quality of the dialogue is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing, wich makes the characters feel real and quite "human". The story is grand and epic wich is what i really wanted before starting the game, there are a lot of heroic and sad moments that hits hard. The song that liliana sings in the camp is so so good, it's this simple and beautiful moments that makes games eternal in my memory. Alistair you are my G.
