Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Great game, old school. I played this million times, worthy each one of them. And is the best game of the Dragon Ages ones, dark, serious and great characters.

Aunque gráficos desfasados, para mi es uno de los mejores juegos de rol que se han hecho. Las decisiones que tomas tienen un peso real en el mundo. Y la cantidad de tácticas en combate y posibilidad de automatización de tus compañeros es enorme.

Do not buy this on Steam if you are running Windows 10/11. The game launches to the main menu, but crashes to desktop immediately every time you try to start a game. If you want to play DA, buy it on GOG instead, where these stability issues are already patched. Steam sells a broken, outdated file.

Bugs ohne Ende, warum muss ich erst lauter Mods und Fixes im Internet zusammensuchen um das Spiel zu spielen? z. B. 4GB Patch und Qwinn's Fixpack und Dain's Fixes und der integrierte Awakening-DLC ist auch noch buggy und braucht wieder eigene Fixes… Da verbringt man mehr Zeit mit patchen als mit spielen! Qwinn's Fixpack versaut übrigens die deutsche Lokalisierung komplett. Und spielerisch konnte ich dem Spiel auch nichts abgewinnen, weil es mich komplett erschlägt. Da sind bücherweise Texte, die man wohl lesen sollte, um die Welt zu verstehen, und außerdem komplexe Character-Fähigkeiten, die das Spiel unzureichend erklärt. Richtig nervig finde ich die Unsitte, komplexe Dialogbäume zu simulieren – die dann aber nicht selten das exakt gleiche Ergebnis zur Folge haben. Wozu dann so ein komplexer Dialog? Dann noch die Sache mit dem Taktik-Menü, das nirgendwo im Spiel erklärt wird und… Ach, dieses Spiel ist keine Entspannung, sondern Arbeit.

DAO is a fantastic rpg that stands the test of time. Combat feels good and can be as easy or complicated as you want it to be. Harder difficulty levels are very challenging and require a lot of pausing and giving commands or you can run through on easy and play in over-the-shoulder view MMO style. The writing and dialogue between characters is where the game really shines. If you want a game that lets you really "get to know" characters and become involved in their stories - this is a great choice. The camp and relationship mechanics feel similar to BG3. This game absolutely holds up 17 years after its release. You may need to take a few steps to get it to run smoothly on current hardware as it was built for x32 bit systems but there are numerous guides to get you through it. Lot's of mods out there to make it feel more modern but I prefer the nostalgia of the OG game.

I highly recommend this one. I’ve finished Dragon Age: Origins 10 times now. I first played it on a pirated version back in high school, then bought it when I was in college and played through it again. And now, I’m about to start another playthrough. If you’re reading this and you haven’t played Dragon Age: Origins yet, do yourself a favor and play it. You won’t regret it.
