JOGÃO
Least favorite DOOM game I've ever played. Buy and play it when its $15 or something. Its so repetitive and I had to put the game down multiple times because of the tedious grind through of the same stuff. I will say, the LORE and story they told was super cool, but the playability was just upsetting.
Great base game. Even better DLC.
its just ok leaning tword mid, in trying to make every game different they shot themselves in the foot and removed everything players liked from the previous entry's. INCLUDING GLORY KILLS FOR SOME REASON. its just mid its fine, the dlc tho, that fixes almost every problem the base game had its peak as ♥♥♥♥. wait for a sale base game not worth 70 bucks, dlc is worth it tho.
Solid fun game. Sad to know a decent bit of the team that made this got laid off.
Peak!!!
I really love the game overall. I think the combat is largely excellent. I will say I'm not a huge fan of the "filler" sections tho. The turrets, mechs, and even the dragon sections. I personally prefer a more linear design over this semi open level structure as well, but I think that's more of a me problem. The new combat model is where this really shines. Shield mobility, blocking and parrying, lots of melee, and some very creative new guns. It all works together great. My only complaints is on higher difficulties, the shield can break in as little as 1 mistimed parry, meaning you just have to run away for few seconds, which feels lame. But the shield has all your defensive and mobility options in it. So no shield? You get to run away for now. I also think some super-heavy enemies are a bit TOO parry heavy, where it feels like you're parrying them 12 times in 3 seconds with an occasion melee or gun blast thrown in-between.
Not as good as Eternal, but still a very fun and unique approach to the series. A li'l slower but much more "stand-and-deliver"; it's obvious they took away the quick-swapping mechanic to get you to lean more in to various weapons and specialize a bit, although with some monsters very much being weaker to certain weapons than others, it does beg the question of why this was chosen. Still, it's fun all the same, and the difficulty sliders for tailoring your own challenge is something I'd love to see more games handle; from raw game speed to things like parry windows and simpler facets of enemy damage/health, it really does let you push yourself exceptionally far in terms of challenge.
