If a long lost arcade game from 1983 resurfaced today, it would be Donut Dodo - a classic 2D platformer from the golden era, tough as nails and challenging for the whole family! Ready to top the high score table?

They should make DLC where I have to put a real life quarter inside my PC every time I get a game over.
I absolutely love this game. I was late to the NES/Famicom, and enjoyed discovering the single screen Nintendo arcade conversions of the coin op cabinets like Donkey Kong Jr and Popeye, and this game captures that essential hardcore gameplay. The colours are bright but never intruding, the music is utterly brilliant and fits the game perfectly. I played this non stop on the flight to Gamescom last year (I have it on several devices). Well worth the 7 quid. I mean c'mon, that's the cost of a beer in a fancy bar! You'll get far more enjoyment from this game!
Welcome back to 1982! This game is a modern take on a classical game genre and delivers in spades. You wouldn't have been surprised to find this game in a cabinet inside of Aladdin's Castle or the local Pizza Hut. All of the hallmarks of classic arcade gaming are here (minus the need to keep feeding quarters into the game). The graphics, the music, the sound effects, the goofy enemies, the game mechanics that you would find in other classic games; all are here and executed brilliantly. This game will tickle the fancy of Gen X'ers that remember the taste of a cold Dr. Pepper and a slice of pepperoni pizza with Journey playing on the jukebox in the background. I have two thumbs but I am only allowed to give this game one enthusiastic thumb up.
Who remembers chuckie egg ? This is kind of the spiritual successor to one of the greatest 8-bit computer games ever made. Single player only but don't let that put you off, jump, climb and collect the smaller donuts, all while avoiding the enemies and the HUGE DODO of course. Manage to collect all of them without dying and its time to grab that BIG HUGE DONUT, watch out as the big dodo wont let you get it easily! This is super tough, I mean seriously hard as nails, the vinnie Jones of platformers, you will die, you will lose, you will restart , you will swear, you will swear some more, but one thing will always be certain, YOU WILL HAVE SO MUCH FUN! Unless of course you cant handle the difficulty, sadly this wont be for everyone but each to their own! Retro gamers, especially older retro gamers will lap this up, yes its insanely hard and it took me 20+ attempts or more just to finish the first level, I still haven't finished the easy levels yet, that's how tough this is. I would have liked some extra life options and a level select but sadly none of these are included. With its charming, colourful, retro graphics and a tune that will probably drive most people up the wall, Donut Dodo is a fiendishly hard, super fun, crazy retro arcade game, if you can handle the challenge, love retro games, grab it now and go collect your donuts! Truly excellent single-screen arcade platformer, that feels like spiritual successor to Locomalito's Darkula, or something like a marriage between Donkey Kong and Bomb Jack. Movement is extremely smooth, and the graphics have a very charming cartoon appeal, though the designs are maybe a bit too haphazard to warrant the highest marks. Some of the level gimmicks — especially the Donkey Kong Jr.-style rope climbing on level 4 — might also be a tad too complex for someting only used in a single level, but you'll get the hang of them all eventually. Really though, the only thing I don't quite like about it is the randomised item order. While it works to make runs less repetitive, some of the levels don't really seem like they were built for that kind of randomness, making some runs a lot harder than others, and occasionally bringing the game to a halt as you're left with little choice but to wait around for the next opening. While you you're not forced to collect the donuts in order, the donut combo really is the only way to earn big points, so I can't get around seeing it as a bit of a flaw.
I love this game! Super tight and charming,
Einfach genial, wirkt wie ein Klassiker der 80er Jahre ist aber ein neues Arcade Game und ich liebe es! Mit Portmaster kann man es übrigens auch auf dem Anbernic RG35XX Handheld unterwegs spielen
